Jack decided to look through some old photos. He had nothing else better to do. The photos appeared around him. The videos playing as well. He clicked one where he actually looked somewhat happy, and actual smile on his face. It had been when his only goal in life was to please his father. Tapping the image, it raced forwards and soon his whole vision was of the 360 degrees picture. It was of the Winter Formal. Which Jack had proudly decorated himself when he was only a freshman. Before he dropped out. The ballroom had delicate blue walls and a soft layer of snow covering the floor. Snow drifted down from the ceiling and a small ice rink in the corner. A large table in the corner held the buffet and the dancefloor was the only area not covered in snow. It was beautiful in its own way. Jack himself looked healthier. Though his lips were purple, he wore a nice black tuxedo and a white shirt underneath. His eyes were almost as white as his sclera and his pupils were the only dark thing about him. A pretty girl, Allie, stood next to him. She was a tomboy and was gifted with the power of growing plants, which was why white and blue live flowers filled the room. She wore A grey skater dress with off the shoulder sleeves. Her dark green eyes and lilac colored hair matching the dress perfectly. Louise stood on the other side of jack with a mischievous smile. His ability to control emotions not coming through in this photo. His brown hair and eyes normal and mischievous. Those were Jack's old friends, well, before the Death happened. Jack realized he was crying and forced the photo out of his brain. Silent sobs shaking his body. Edited at August 17, 2018 11:50 AM by Soaring Free

The Merfolk memory was impeccable. They could recall every detail of their lives into sharp focus, and examine every inch of the memories frame by frame. Some memories were in the back, of unimportant parts, such as eating and sleeping and school. More prominent memories hovered around the edges, of fights, friends, family and interesting tidbits of a Mer's life. Then there were the memories that were always in their minds, of either amazing or horrible times.
Memories in Kiache's brain, the ones always on her mind, were ones of being captured, or her first kiss, of Fy. If one did not train themselves, those memories would constantly replay, over and over. If done correctly, they would only appear if called upon. Not that Kiache would ever need to re-see her capture. She knew it my heart without reliving it.

Jack stopped crying as soon as possible, making sure his face was completely dry before he stopped wiping his face. Tears could freeze on his very face, it was a miracle that they hadn't froze as soon as they rolled down his cheeks. He looked at the necklace Kiache had given him, perhaps it really was helping him? He didn't really know. Though he desperately hoped it was. Looking down at the bracelet, the time appeared. He had about 5 minutes before he was free to roam about the city. Five minutes to figure out if he wanted to get out of this city and explore The Outskirts.

As she looked upon the room, Kiache sighed. She could not see a future where she was free, and the notion made her sick. Even as she examined herself, Kiache could see the differences. She used to be muscular, and at a healthy weight. Now, she was underweight and weak. Her eyes no longer sparkled, and each movement held the promise of pain.

Time ticked away slowly but surely as Jack made his final decision. He would visit Kiache for a bit before leaving to The Outskirts followed by The Unknown. The noise of wind chimes filled Jack's small room as his alarm rang through the warm air. Allowing himself to stand up, Jack grabbed his headphones and pulled them on. A beautiful wave of sound entering his ears and mind. The music soothed him and he made his way to the secret room on light feet. Avoiding the servants, both man and robot filed through the halls regularly. The limitations and rules of their jobs always on their minds since a single smudge on the floor could mean punishment. That was not Jack's choice though. It was Liam's. Finally, Jack opened the door to the room and silently closed the door behind him. His headphones dropping down to his neck automatically.

Kiache flicked her fins, the water rushing around her as she pumped her tail. Up, up, up she went, her keen hearing picking up on footsteps. No matter who it was, even if it was the awful Master, they could not be ignored, least she be punished. Her head breaking the surface, Kiaches face lifted from its sullen glare to a happier look. It was Jack. The one person she could stand in this hellhole.

The corners of Jack's lips upturned slightly at the sight of Kiache but the almost smile quickly disappeared. Replaced by a subtly happy look that made up for his never smiling face. "Hey Kiache," Jack's normally worn out voice was smooth and gentle, "would you like something to eat?" His hand automatically gestures towards the freezer which held Kiache's food. "It must get boring, eating basically the same thing everyday." Jack thought with a sigh, he wished Kiache had better living conditions.

"Not thank you. Ate recent, I did, so I am full." A small lie, but the horrid food made her want to puke each time. Kiaches wet hair pressed against her head, and as she pulled herself up onto the rock, viciously shook her head to fling away the heavy water."However did you get away from Owner?" Kiache questioned, rubbing her hand where she sliced herself earlier. With her fin, she flicked away the offending piece of coral.

Jack nodded when she said she didn't need any food then sat on the floor, still a bit away from the tank. Just in case. "Well I have free time today so j decided to spend most of it with you then get out of here for a bit so I can visit The Unknown. I'm sorry I can't get you out of here." A bit of sadness reached his gaze when he said this. Kiache didn't deserve this small tank for the rest of her life. No merfolk did, they deserved the ocean. They had done nothing wrong.

"It's okay, I understand. It takes more than one kelp to tie up a shark." The ghost of a smile crossed her face, but disappeared soon after. "If I were to be free, I should hope to show you my home." Kiache lightly touched the pearls imbedded in her face, and touched one hollow space along her eyebrow. "Do you know what decides how long a Mer lives? Royal Mer live longer, because of how many jewels they have. Non royals have less jewels. The jewels in our faces can be taken out and used, but once used can never be put back. When all of our jewels are gone, we die. That's how natural death works. Of course, we can always be killed by humans or other creatures. Or by lack of food or water."
