Jack felt like a useless blob compared to Quinn who so easily swam. Well, at least it looked like she did. Jack couldn't do much, he couldn't easily move his tail. It was like learning to walk again. Except it should've been easier, since you were basically weightless. It wasn't easier.

Quinn's... tentacles... liked to move around on their own. It was hard to control them all at once. Having six more legs than normal made everything so hard. It was like her brain was connecting to even more, and it all got confusing.

Having many legs was one thing, having no legs was something completely different. Jack didn't have knees! Although, from his books he knew that Mers with tails like his had some sort of knee-type thing so they could move properly. It just wasn't as easy as having 2 fused legs. Although he could actually slightly move his tail, it wasn't enough to actually get going.

It was as if Fy and Kiache could see the problems Jack and Quinn were having. Bubbles escaped from their mouths even as they tried to hold back giggles. Suddenly, the biggest Mer the previous humans will ever see clapped a large hand on Kiaches shoulder. His palms were about the size of Kiaches head, and his hand seemed to swallow her up. Her eyes went wide, and she spun around into the embrace of her Pater.

Jack made a playfully grumpy face at the Mer's giggles but stopped as soon as he saw the huge Mer. He was not intimidated or surprised by the Mer. He'd researched enough to know that Mer ranged in size and this one, most likely Kiache's father, was also pretty old. Jack already respected the Mer, this was someone both like and unlike his own father.

The big Mer had a half circle fin that was a mix of dark purple and white, with a few black scales here and there. They were an imposing figure, with a shock of short white hair and a finely trimmed beard. Their face is squared off and much tougher than Kiache's, though they have the same teal eyes. Age showed with the Mer, for many of the pearls and shells inlaid in the face were gone. There were only a few left, being a few hard stones under the eyes, and two crab claws about the brows. The Mer cut a fierce figure, and many scars showed their prowess in the ocean. Without counting the fins, they would be 6'11. Like all Mer, they have marks that race up and down their arms, and instead of the cerulean blue that Kiache has, theirs are an almost black color. The skin is darker and roughed by the years in the currents. "Pater!" Tore out of Kiache's mind, not even bothering to create a personal conversation. The little Mer was swallowed in her Pater's arms. Yes, most of the time they hugged with their tails, but both Kiache and the old Mer wanted to just be together again.

Jack now truly felt like he was intruding on something. He had thought that it had been bad when Fy showed up but this was Kiache's true family. Someone Jack had no right to meet. After all, his family had kept her captive multiple years.

Kiache turned to her friends with a large smile, "This is my Pater," she introduced, flicking her fin. They smiled, large and wide, so alike win Kiache's. "Call me Pes." Somehow, even with mental communication, Pes seemed to rumble. Their powers were strong, so Pes was able to join in the conversation even if Quinn and Jack had not willed it.

Jack was slightly startled by Kiache's father, or Pes' voice. They were so powerful, he could feel it in his very bones. He doubted that any human could one on one take Pes down even if they were the strongest human. They hadn't been here for nearly as long as Pes had and would be outwitted undoubtedly. Humans were arrogant and horrible half the time, which made them easier to anger and easier to distract. Jack wasn't sure what exactly to do. Mers obviously had a complex social life that was rather unlike humans, which was the only thing Jack really knew. He felt as if he should bow or something but he didn't have legs. Which made him think that might not be how Mers greeted their higher-ups. The always logical Jack really didn't know what he should do in this situation. It was unfamiliar territory and Jack wasn't good with things he did not know.

Kiache introduced Quinn and Jack, "Pater, these are my friends, and the people who saved me from the Mors Ambulatis (What evil humans are known as in the ocean). This one is Jack, the first friend and kindest Terra Ambulatis (humans in general), and that is Quinn, the second friend, and fierce! Very brave." Pes's wise eyes bore into the two. He dipped his head slightly, and used his thumb to brush over his brow bone, "Thank you, kind ones, for bringing my child home."
