As for answers of my own...

1) Garvin deals with chronic pain. For sure. Easily. And probably chronic fatigue too. Vigge deals with some fatigue, not nearly as much. And then Revan and Aries both also deal with some chronic pain and fatigue, but not nearly as much as Garvin. With Garvin, on days where it flares up bad, like even more than a usual flare up, he can barely stand. It sucks. His method of dealing with it tends to be his ability, where he basically just hikes up his adrenaline until he's 'fine'. Irfam probably would too, except for the fact that he turned off his pain receptors and all.

2) Garvin has both the best and worst sick days and there is never any telling which it's going to be. Sometimes when he's sick, it's just a cough and sneeze here and there. Other times, it's constant nausea, constant shivering, flare ups in pain, constant sweating, coughing fits, and just overall not having a good time. I'm actually working on the Sweat prompt right now (which was supposed to be Revan but has been changed to Garvin) and that will be a sick day.

BB;

Bernard: A bad day with Bernard is honestly pretty rare, and he’s such a good kid, he doesn’t try to hide it most of the time. Chances are, he’ll tell you outright that he’s not feeling too great.

Vigge: Vigge’s already super bitter and sour, so really it’s hard to tell. He just gets worse, basically. More sour, more bitter. More upset. More likely to lash out and hit where it hurts.

Helge: She lashes out. Fun. Yay. This girl is usually super composed, but a bad day means she loses her shit. Basically. More or less.

Lysander: This dum dum child on a bad day just gets a little quieter, if anything. He’s a pro at hiding bad days for the most part though. And they’re quick at bouncing back too.

Keijo: Bad day Keijo basically just means more awkwardness and anxiety. He’s a ball of nerves, haha.

Garvin: As of the start of BB, Garvin isn’t as good at hiding it yet as compared to AFCS. He gets quieter, less of an appetite, more dissociation- Like, so much more dissociation. He has very few coping mechanisms/skills. Dissociation is the best he’s got. Surprisingly, not as much lashing out, but definitely still happens. Will say, bad days or weeks (or a month) is much more common than just one bad day.

AFCS;

Revan: Lashing out, overworking, self-isolating, and just overall diving headfirst into everything he already does.

Mergen: Lots of sleeping or lots of screaming- It honestly depends on if they’re manic or depressed at the moment. But it’s usually pretty easy to tell.

Simon: Good luck being able to tell. Simon is very good at hiding a bad day. If anything, he may just seem a little… Off. Like his vibe may just be off. He’s very good at hiding it though and not even Anna can really read him all too well.

Aries: Silence, shallow breathing, far off gaze… I mean, really, he’s pretty easy to tell whether or not he’s having a bad day, I think. When he starts healing and growing out his hair again, him cutting his hair will be another big tell.

Irfam: Hallucinations get worse, or more disturbing. Same for manic and depressed episodes. And paranoid episodes. Yeah. That’s honestly about it though. It really depends on the episode, if he’s having one. And if he isn’t, he probably will be.

Garvin: Oh man. Uh. Big tells of a bad day with AFCS Garvin? I mean, less of an appetite, for sure. Dissociation for sure. Dude still has very few coping strategies other than dissociation. Drugs, alcohol, and smoking though. Definitely gets worse when he’s having a bad day. Will say, bad days or weeks (or a month) is much more common than just one bad day. Of course, lashing out too. Being quieter. But, I mean, honestly- Dude is pretty good at masking. Usually, you won’t see any of the tells of a bad day until it’s already too late.

I love all that!

The Harper household sounds like it'll be chaotic fun. I mean, anything with Bernard, Kage, and Alecia around each other is chaos in itself XD

I should mention. Lysander, Vigge, and Helge are all besties. Kind of toxic besties. Uhm. Oops. Garvin's definitely getting dragged into their group for a bit.

Also! Fun little tidbit! Garvin already knows the sketchy gang/mafia group in BB. Doesn't know Devery yet though. Yet. You'll get to see this, hehe.

Garvin's already had most everything under the sun before too, his immune system just likes to beat him up sometimes, basically. It sucks.

Also. Some timeline stuff so that the short story makes some more sense.

Garvin was kicked out of the orphanage when he was 5. When he was 7, somebody took him off the streets for the first time. When he was 9, they kicked him out. When he was 11, the modern day pirates tooks him in. When he was 12, they kicked him out. When he was 14/almost 15, he met the sketchy gang/mafia. When he was a week away from the July that marks 16, he met Devery. When he was 16, he met the trio. A little while before he was 17, he left the trio. When he was 19, he met the repetition gang. When he was almost 20, he left Beast/GiGi. When he was 22, he met Andi. When he was almost 24, he escaped. And now at 25, a few months off from 26, he's in the rebellion.

In the sickfic, he's younger than 10. That's all you get to know though, haha.

I love all of that. And, yeah, a lot of the tells depend on what kind of bad day it is for my characters too.

Especially characters like Garvin, who dissociation starts with stress. Literally put any kind of stress onto this guy and he will start dissociating. He has zero good coping skills. But things likes no appetite and being quieter and basically shutting down depend way more on exacts.

Aries too is very hard to tell between bad and good days as of right now. Also because of conditioning. Most of his tells are for when he's healthier only, haha...

Sick Day

Characters; Garvin.

Prompt; Whumpril Day 2 - Sweat

Word Count; 1,141.

TWs; Vomit/nausea, uh, sickness/illness. Does it count as dissociation if he’s sick? I have no clue. Super unpleasant sensory experience. Some mild suicidal ideation but like… Not? Uh. Yeah. Maybe more? Oops.

Notes; Hey, it’s a sickfic? That’s crazy. Fair warning, I have no experience with sickfics. Anyways. Happens years before the main AFCS storyline. And I should probably mention that Garvin does not remember this. Like, at all. Did happen though. I need you all to know that this is the fifth one I wrote. I wrote Day 3, then I wrote Day 27, then I wrote Day 15, then I wrote Day 1, and now I write Day 2. Yeah.

This had not been how he’d planned to spend the day, put simply. Then again, he wasn’t too sure what he had had planned for the day at this point. But he was fairly sure that this wasn’t it. He was fairly sure no one would plan for this to be how they spent their day. He had things to do, didn’t he? He’d been supposed to… To do something. He didn’t know. But whatever he was supposed to do, he wasn’t doing it because instead of, well, doing it… He was stuck, curled and shivering against a wall trying to make himself smaller.

Which. Didn’t make sense. The shivering didn’t at least. Not really. He was sweating, he shouldn’t be cold. Someone wouldn't sweat if they were cold. But he was shivering, and he was cold. And the wall was rough, and he could feel where it rubbed against him every time he coughed or shook or moved at all, and he could feel the sweat covering him, running down or building up or both or whatever it was doing. He couldn’t really tell. He didn’t really want to be able to tell. Dealing with it happening at all was enough.

He was hungry. Somehow though, the thought only made him nauseous. He shifted, trying to curl up more, and tried not to wince with the movement. He didn’t want to be moving. He didn’t want to be awake either, not while it hurt to breathe and move and think and… And everything. A breath got caught in his throat and he coughed to try and free it, hoping for a slight moment that it wouldn’t turn into a fit. It did, of course, because why wouldn’t it. He’d really ought to just stop for a little while. That’d be a nice change, wouldn’t it?

…He was tired. And, really, just about everything hurt. He couldn’t tell if there was anything that didn’t. Each breath felt like glass in his lungs, each cough felt like it was tearing through his throat, each shift and shiver, each and every slight bit of movement was just… Too much. Each rolling of his stomach, each sound from the nearby street, each tensing and twitch. Each breeze that reminded him of how much he was sweating, of how cold he somehow was, of how gross everything felt against him.

A full body shudder went through him, leaving smaller shivers and shaky breaths in its wake. Squeezing his eyes shut in response and trying to ignore the way his eyes watered. He wasn’t about to cry because of this. He wasn’t. But everything hurt and he was hungry and tired and cold and sweating and nauseous and everything felt wrong and gross and bad and none of it made any sense to him and the wall was grainy and rough and sharp and there was no way it wasn’t tearing into his skin- Right? It had to be. It wouldn’t— It wouldn’t be this awful if it wasn’t.

He bit down a cry, curling more. He bit down a cough too, trying to keep from ending up in another coughing fit. He hated this. He really, really did. It shouldn’t— He shouldn’t be in this much pain, he shouldn’t be sweating and shivering at the same time, he shouldn’t be hungry and nauseous at the same time- He shouldn’t be. It didn’t make sense.

Nausea and pain flared and, for a moment, he curled more. As if that could keep everything at bay. As if that could keep him from having to deal with all of what was happening.

Of course, it actually couldn't, and he uncurled himself quickly when it became obvious that he was going to throw up. As quickly as he could, trying to ignore the pain that came with it and focus on just making sure not to add vomit to the list of feelings he was covered in. Sweat and dirt was enough. Was way more than enough.

-

All that came up, burning his throat as it did, was stomach acid and bile, and the feeling of it was enough to make him gag. Which turned into a coughing fit. Which turned into him heaving out more bile, eyes squeezed closed and trying to ignore the tears he hadn’t wanted to fall. Trying to ignore the fact that he was trembling, still shivering and sweating. He was tired and everything hurt and he wanted to scream. Wanted to throw a fit and scream and cry and— And something. The most he could manage though was a choked back whine cut off early by another long stream of coughing.

When he finally managed to get to a point where he wasn’t going back and forth between coughing fits and heaving, he wasn’t sure how much time had passed. He was, however, sure that he should move back to the wall before he was seen by anyone. So, shaking and dripping with sweat, he pushed himself back towards the wall. People weren’t nice and he’d rather not be dealing with them at the moment. He had enough to deal with. If he had even a small bit of luck, no one would see him and he could get through this on his own.

-

He curled up against the wall again, keeping his eyes tightly shut and trying to ignore everything going on around him. It was easier than dealing with it all. He hoped no one saw him, hoped that he’d just be left alone until he was feeling better. Or at least until he could remember what he was supposed to be doing. He wasn’t sure what he would be able to do if he wasn’t left alone. He wasn’t sure if there was anything he could do. He hated the feeling, the way it made his skin crawl under the sweat layering on him. He wasn’t even sure why it was crawling. He just… Didn’t want anyone near him. That was all. People just weren’t good.

-

So he focused on ignoring everything. From the smell of bile and stomach acid, to the aftertaste left from it, to the feeling of the wall against him, to the varying dryness of tears on his face, to the sounds of the street, to his shivering and shuddering, to the pain that just wouldn’t leave, to his nausea, to the fogginess of everything happening, to the way each breath felt to take, to everything he felt but couldn’t put a name on, to his trembling and twitching, to the sweat that just continued to build. All of it was just too much and ignoring it was easier than dealing with it.

He didn’t notice the footsteps that were getting closer though. He should’ve, with how in his face everything else was. But he didn’t.

Alecia and Kage are, according to Alecia, mortal enemies, and, according to Kage, they're just "working on it." Um. There'll be a ton of fighting between them, at least at first. Cue a mildly concerned, mildly annoyed Atlas, lol

Some fair warning. Vigge is gay and Helge is a lesbian, they were at one point dating, mostly as a show for the catholic school that Kalei, Lysander, Vigge, Helge, and Mergen all met at. At the start of BB, Vigge and Helge are going to be in a weird place. Not exactly dating but not exactly openly broken up either.

Love that for Kage and Alecia, definitely going to be fun haha
