Ronin
Female | 7 Years | Eastern Sentry | Mentions: Orion, Koa, The Pack

Ronin was quite possibly one of the worst wolves for the pup to be stuck with at a time like this. Not because she wouldn't keep him safe, she just didn't have the mental capacity to handle his emotions, to comfort him and offer him some sort of empathy. Ronin just wasn't good at that kind of thing, not for a soft little pup.

She nodded gently at him when he spoke of Koa and the fact that he could run, acknowledging them both at once. She chose to avoid any sort of mention of his mother, not sure quite how to handle that.

"Good," she murmured and began a steady lope forward, shoulder muscle rippling with ear step. "And yes, he does need help. Which is why we are heading to the pack, so I and the others can go and assist him before it's too late," she explained, trying to keep calm even though her facial features were laced with worry. Koa and her were trained for this task, but it didn't make her worry about him any less.

"Which is why we must hurr-" the female's words and steps were cut off when she heard a yelp from behind her. She paused and looked over her shoulder, face creasing further. It was an odd yelp, somewhere caught between a howl and yelp. It carried like a howl, but didn't have the intensity. It concerned her tenfold to know Koa had let out such a sound.

Flicking her ears forward, her eyes followed suit, and then her body. She transitioned back into a steady lope, her ears pinning back as her features set into determination. "We must hurry, little one," she stated finally.

Large paws thudded against the ground as she moved, the sound doing little to settle the female's nerves. It was times like this that she hated that they had such a vast territory. It wouldn't take long for her to reach the den site on her own at a full run, but loping along side a pup? It would take her far longer to reach the pack than she would like. Far too long.

Aridam

Male | 5 Years | Western Border Sentry| Mentions: Breksta ; Leviathan + Others Indirect

Ari more so sensed rather than heard the encroachment of his partner, Breksta. While it was true the pair had grown up together; done everything together, the dame had always managed to have an edge of silence. Had the large male not grown used to, fond of even, the ways of the equally dark she-wolf, he never would’ve known she was there until she was upon him. Despite years of training, while the male certainly wasn’t cumbersome or clunky, it was unreasonable to think a wolf his size could be as silent or light-footed as a Sentry such as Breksta.

Alas, Aridam gave his tail, or rather more so what remained of it, a partial wag in lieu of a greeting. He diligently brought himself, and therefore his peaceful stroll about camp, to a halt, his head held high as if he were subjecting himself to the inspection he was given by the obsidian dame. There was a look of mirth across his face, a glimmer of mild amusement to his amber eyes. “It takes work to look as good as I do, Breksta. Do you think I just look like this all the time? I need my beauty sleep- you could probably use some yourself.” The tease was easy coming from the wolf’s mouth, a wolffish grin curling his lips briefly. Ari liked to think that he was absolutely hilarious, so the stifled snicker that followed his words was expected, as cliche and ridiculous as it were. “And don’t get mad at me when you’re falling asleep at your post.”

It was easy to tell whenever the she-wolf was in a mood anything other than content; you could practically feel it in the air when she was sour or agitated. Especially after spending as much time as Aridam did with her, you learned to get used to it- so the male was confident she’d be out of the mood rut soon enough. It wasn’t like the dark wolf didn’t understand where she was coming from- he did. As much as he loved coming back to camp, as refreshing as it was to see familiar faces ice more, he almost preferred ‘living’ at the Western Border. Perhaps because he did spend so much of his life out there it was a large majority of what he knew, just he and Breksta, but it was a life he enjoyed. It came with its downsides, naturally, such as missing out on pack milestones or joyous occasions, but in all honesty that was a sacrifice the hulking male was willing to make. The solitude was gratifying, and it was a rewarding experience to feel as if you were contributing to the betterment of the park. Plus, as a Sentry, more often than not you missed out on the meager squabbles and disagreements, petty arguments, and all those waste of time.

Had Aridam been feeling himself anymore, he likely would’ve returned the nudge with a playful nip to the dame’s ear, but he was beginning to feel restless already so he settled for a brief nudge back with his nose before he started forwards again. He likely would’ve appreciated a few more mere moments of rest, but now that he was up he was more than ready to return to the endless forests. Even so, he kept his strides leisure, even a bit slower-paced than normal if only to poke dome annoyance at Breksta. The slight breeze about the woods felt glorious against his coat, so the male didn't mind taking his time even if Breksta would.

“Am I ready to go? Please, I’ve been waiting for you all morning.” Again, the tease was light-hearted, Ari evidently pleased with himself if the way he bobbed his head was anything to go by. A look around the camp, or what could be seen of it anyways, gave hint that it probably was a keen idea for them to leave now. There was a multitude of wolves mulling about, namely clustered around the boulder upon which held the new Alpha, Leviathan. It wasn’t really a secret or surprise how the large dark male felt about the exchange of power into different paws. Aridam was a creature of intense loyalty, as long as whoever was in charge took care and consideration he could care less. Of course, he found the whole situation rather odd- he was more so bound to tradition and had expected the previous Betas Vilho and Maeve to take command. Ari rather liked the pair; he had no qualms with them and they had always gotten along the few times they interacted. He knew what to expect from them.

Leviathan was another story. A new player in the game. He hadn’t been raised to hold a position of leadership, and so far it was likely to say the brown-hued male had made more bad impressions than good, more enemies than friends, but Ari was willing to give the kid a chance. It couldn’t be easy suddenly becoming Alpha of a pack, containing wolves who had less than polite ideas about you. Tensions had admittedly been high for the last week, as far as Aridam would tell anyways, and the Sentry, while admittedly curious to see how things would unfold, had begun to feel a budding bulb of anxiety deep in his chest. He’d just hope the tensions would subside before emotions escalated.

If the light breeze hadn't suddenly winded down, and if Aridam hadn't always been paranoid over every slight sound he heard, the male likely would be missed the extremely faint, clipped noise that funneled through his ears. He was pulled out of his pensive thoughts immediately, his large head shooting up from where it had hung comfortably. Aridam’s immediate reaction was to snap his head to the side, fixing Breksta with a serious yet confused glance. “Did you hear that?” His ears were on full alert, erect forwards as he took a second to see if anyone else present in camp heard the faint, howl-like noise. Ari had excellent auditory capabilities, yes, but the last thing he wanted to do was cause alarm and panic for no valid reason.

Vilho
Male | 8 Years | Demoted Beta | Mentions: Maeve (Others Indirectly)

The large male couldn't help the disgust that curled itself in his stomach whenever he looked at either of his daughters. How had they turned out in such a way, when their son had become such a lovely, powerful wolf? Their son remained loyal, enjoying their company and listening to them the way a child should listen to his parents. It was a shame that he wasn't at camp much, even if Vilho was immensely proud to have a son become a Sentry. Cadmus' traits of bravery, loyalty and intelligence only grew in his position as a Sentry, and Vilho often had lingering thoughts of satisfaction when he interacted with his son.

The dark male made a soft noise when he noticed his mate, Maeve, coming towards him, reaching up and into the contact that she offered. His ears flicked forward to catch her words, and he grunted in irritation at them. Eira had run Cadmus off before she had gotten to speak to him. It was irritating how often that had been happening recently. Their palest daughter would get into an argument with their son, and he would leave the camp for the border before they'd get a chance to speak to him.

"Perhaps, my love," he began, voice low and rough, as it always had been. "Our good genetics skipped them. Evidently, they are in Cadmus. Perhaps they skipped our daughters, and will show in our grandpups." His chuckle was a deep, slow sound, chest vibrating with the noise as he leaned closer to his mate. "And grandpups will want to spend time with their grandparents. The more time we spend with any grandpups, the more likely they are to see how idiotic their mothers are. They'll see how successful Cadmus is, and see that he is loyal to us, and not like our unfaithful offspring."

Vilho ducked his head to nuzzle the side of his face against the side of Maeve's neck, glare icy when it cut across the camp to scan the wolves. Leviathan had yet to call the meeting that he so obviously planned, both of their deceitful daughters were talking with the retiree Cyre and the female Kyomi, and the male Akousa was nearby them.

Just as Vilho saw the male Western Sentry, Aridam, jerk to alertness, the dark male registered a rather odd noise. Something between a howl and a yelp. He lifted his head, looking in the direction it came from, frowning in both confusion and concern. "Did you hear that, love?" He muttered, not yet moving from her side. "Perhaps the Eastern Sentries are having a squabble with the other pack."

Cyre || 16 || Female || Elder || M : Takara, Eira, Kyomi, Akousa, Maeve and Vilho (Ind)

"Oh, pup, I truly am sorry that they do not quite see in you what I do. You and Eire are brilliant creatures. Young, smart, beautiful,... Honestly, it is a shame no male around here has the balls to speak with you," Cyre told Takara, raising her voice slightly for the last sentence. As Eire and Kyomi made their entrance, the ancient wolf gave them a grin and scooched to the side to allow more spaces in the dappled sunlight. "I am doing well! And how are you ladies today?"

As Eira added her last question, Cyre released a chuckle of a snort and replied, "Well obviously my puppies are here because I am the life of the party."

She turned her head to watch Akousa saunter towards Takara and smugly narrowed her eyes, releasing a quiet heeheeheeee under her breath that increased in pitch every syllable. Ah, infatuation. Cyre wasn't quite sure if either wolf felt love for each other -- that took time, and the brute had barely stopped pursuing the lovely Kyomi.

"Welcome to the congregation, handsome," Cyre said sweetly, eyeing Akousa similar to the way she would observe her next meal. In a good way, of course. She didn't mean to look scary or evil or anything of that nature. No, it was just instinctive to try and put a little fear into younger wolves.

Eira
Female || 5 years || Pack Member || Mentions: Kyomi, Takara, Cyre, Leviathan, Enigma, Akousa
Indirectly Mentions: Maeve

The dame had stood, eyes switching from wolf to wolf as she awaited an answer. At last, they landed upon Enigma. As the other female informed her of what was to happen, Eira nodded. "A hunt would be good," was her response. She knew that she wouldn't attend. Her pelt was too light in colouration, and thus, she'd be seen too easily. No, winter was her prime season. Her white fur was almost invisible among the snow. Although it was a hassle running through the snow, Eira still enjoyed the season to an extent.

"I suppose we'll all know who does what soon, isn't that right?" Speaking to both Enigma and Leviathan, Eira only assumed everything would be known during the meeting. Well, she supposed she'd be on den duty. What else was there to do for one with such a light pelt? The point was to not be seen, and frankly, Eira could be seen quite well at this time of year.

Her attention shifted from the hunt and onto Kyomi. Her sister (not blood, but close enough) remained close to her. Without speaking, Eira shifted so that her own body blocked any of Kyomi's revealing stomach. Knowing some within the pack, they'd say something disrespectful revolving around her, like her mother had. So if Eira could prevent the attention from going onto her for one moment, she would.

"I'm quite well, Cyre," she spoke, an instant smile flashing across her face when addressing the older female. "Oh, I think you're quite wrong about being the life of the party. You're moreso the party itself. Wherever you go, it simply follows." Eira showed kindness to Cyre, and why wouldn't she? Growing up, her mother and father weren't there, but Cyre was. She respected the older female. She was her family, and she would have said more, too, if not for Takara's next words about their mother. "I'm close to being disowned, Takara, you just watch. She asked about Cadmus, and I simply gave her the truth. I asked if he broke away from his leash. You know how they always have him on one." Now that she thought about it, perhaps it was wiser to stay silent in front of her mother. "And the things she said about Kyomi. You'd think there'd be an ounce of kindness left in her."

Oh, there once was, Eira remembered that. She had small memories when she was a pup. Maeve was there, and she was actually kind to her. She showed the traits a mother should. The mere idea looking back often caused disbelief to form on Eira's face, as if she had imagined it. Who knows, maybe she had. For all she knew, it could all be a dream. That would be more believable.

Prepared to release a small rant, Eira swallowed her words as a puzzled look crossed her face. Both Takara and Cyre were looking at something-

"So, Takara, I was thinking..."

The female's eyes landed upon Akousa, and immediate dislike towards him formed within her. Why was he looking at her? Was he truly that bored? Rather than speaking, Eira allowed her amber gaze to settle about Akousa, scanning him in a slow once-over. Her gaze remained cool, chilly, icy. She wouldn't be shy with expressing her deep-rooted dislike towards him. The way he acted often irked the female. He was a bundle of emotions put into one. It would be a game for her guessing how he would act that day. And that wasn't even the thing she disliked most. No, it was how he looked at Takara and Kyomi. She would have any male with them, anyone but Akousa, that is. She didn't trust him was the short side of the story, for he didn't give her any reason to.

"May I help you?" Was her final answer after several seconds of silence as she observed him. Indeed, her gaze remained cold, her tone hardened and unwelcoming, until it shot to Takara. Why are you being nice to him? She wanted to ask, a glimpse of distaste flashing throughout her body before turning back to Akousa. "Are you going to finish your sentence, or simply sit there listening in to ours?" A conversation I don't remember inviting you to, she dared add on, but remained silent, interrogating him.

Orion
Male || 5 Months || Pup || Mentions: Ronin
Indirectly Mentions: Koa

He could run. He could run fast. He still had energy left in him, and if he ran out, he'd have no choice but to make some more, however that worked. Orion was always fast. Granted, his legs were long and made him trip a lot, but he always managed to pick himself back up. This was different though. He wasn't running for his own life, but somebody else's. That, for some odd reason, made him more motivated. He could save someone by running fast.

"Is it much farther?" He asked, already beginning to break out into a run. He knew this female was worried. He knew that it was the same feeling that he had earlier when he watched his mother fight. This dame must feel awful. Orion couldn't be the cause of another death, he refused to be. So when he heard a yelp that he wasn't prepared for, panic struck him again. "Hurry? I can hurry," he finally squeaked, breaking out into a quicker run.

Orion ran. He sprinted. He moved as quickly as his legs and body allowed him to, and yet he was still too slow. He knew he was holding back the female. The only way he managed to get ahead of the enemies was by diving and running through parts of the forest only available to a creature of his size. He ran through bushes, under tree roots, through cracks of a boulder. But now? He couldn't keep up, and he wouldn't hold her back. "Tell me the way to your camp, and you go ahead," he offered. "I'll be behind you. I'll keep up from a distance. I'm very good with directions." That was all he could offer.

Orion couldn't be carried, nor could he keep up. It was either let the female go ahead, or, "I can also hide. I'm a good hider." Granted, he was found out last time he hid, but that was because he had no time. Now, he did. He could cozy his way into a tree, or settle in a hole. "You can come back for me," he added on. Even if the female didn't, he'd be safe. He was sure that he could manage alone, couldn't he? Sure, he didn't know how to hunt, but maybe he could learn. He was a quick learner as well.

Orion continued running, glimpsing at the female to let him know the best choice.

Akousa

Male||Four||Pack Member||Mentions:Cyre ,Eira, Kyomi, Takara

A few moments before, he had watched how she interacted with Enigma; polite and friendly with a hint of a smile here and there. And then of course Cyre and Takara got her full force of welcome, her stony features, or at least that's the face he was always shown, lighting up with slight heaves of laughter shaking her chest. Akousa had frowned then, wondering why he could never seem to catch her favour whenever he offered her curt but polite greetings when passing, eagerly flicking his gaze over his shoulder to perhaps catch a glimpse of approval on her face. But it never swayed, in fact her tail might twitch irritably as she leisurely walks away in turn. That's when it got him angry..frustrated even

Did she know his true motives? Is that why he always got the same reaction? Did she catch his quick stares sent her sister's way after he’d swiftly offer her a moment of kindness? Well everyone knows how close she and Takara are...How else could he get on the black female's good side if not by trying to befriend Eira? But all of his efforts were futile and he was a fool to ever think that would change so easily. He remembers sloppily falling to the ground, a fit of dust briefly pluming around him as he’d critically try to figure out the source of the light dame’s dislike for him. And now, sitting close to Takara but with keen eyes on Eira, he felt like he was close to the truth.

Twitching an ear as a raspy and yet warming voice disturbed his concentration, Akousa would shortly turn his head, a moments annoyance clouding his features until he met the eyes of the elder Cyre. He’d sweeten his gaze but then quickly prick his ears forward, feeling a soft chill trickle down his spine and eyes scissoring into his fur. The male shifted his stare back to Eira, though this time the female was looking right back at him, disgust, annoyance, anger, all of it, sparking within her amber gaze. “May I help you?” A phrase normally concocted with a welcoming, friendly undertone was laced with a stiffened annoyance, and if spoken words were visible, he believed there’d even be icicles attached at the bottom.

He winced once she shot her glare towards Takara, perhaps already making some type of signal that would suggest he’s truly a nuisance, swaying the darker dame to possibly see him out. That wouldn’t do would it? Parting his jaws to speak, whatever words he was about to emit were ultimately drowned out by her next set of frosty words, arousing a waver of his ears; partially folding backwards with false uncertainty. He wanted to allow his classic frightened, gloomy expression to settle in but it never made it, rather instead an awkward smirk, slightly annoyed, took over instead; eyes flickering around the bodies of each wolf. Why was she so loud?

Welcome to the congregation, handsome.”

Hearing Cyre speak once more, he allowed his stiffened limbs to relax, flashing a thankful stare towards the older dame. “Thank you Cyre. At least someone gave me a greeting.” Noticing the subtle look in her warm gaze, he had to stifle a gentle shiver, aware of the females antics and yet still unable to completely deter the reactions of a pup whenever meeting such purposeful eyes. He liked Cyre. As far as he knew, everyone liked Cyre. Who wouldn’t? Shifting his attention towards Eira, Akousa would finally speak.

“Takara, I was thinking, no, wondering if you would be willing to share a meal with me after I return from todays hunt” Finishing with a hopeful stare returned to the other sister, Akousa would gently sway his tail, a soft smile caressing his features while his sunkissed paws pricked with acute nervousness. Whilst awaiting for a response, the male would avert his vision towards a small figure huddled beside Eira, and he’d give Kyomi a swift nod of acknowledgement unlike the bubbling wave of emotions nestled inside of him. He didn’t know what he was doing, calling her name like that earlier. What would he have even said? I hate you and your brats? Well he didn’t hate her, not even close. Perhaps he just wanted another chance to talk to her.. How silly of him.

With watchful eyes fixed on the pale figure of Eira for the fourth time, he’d sweep his gaze over her with half closed vision. Having obtained the real reason of her behavior towards him, he felt like he saw her in a whole new light.

Flicking his tail around as he listened to Choctaw's voice, he chuckled "Don't worry, my friend, I wouldn't say a word.. Its not my job to tell her, It's yours.." he spoke, laying his ears back. He then turned his cranium toward Cadmus, flicking one ear up toward his words. "Ah, I've been up attempting to find something to eat.." he spoke. "Haven't exactly slept." he finished before flicking his ears. He then turned back to Choctaw "If you were to ask me, Just be yourself, Females like that." he told the other male.

Hopefully im not intruding to bad.. He thought to himself before standing up. "I'm sorry if im disturbing, by the way, just overheard some stuff and thought I could help.." he spoke softly, flicking his tail before sitting back down "Have you guys spotted any disturbances?" he questions, being genuinely curious.

Casek
Male | 4.5 Years | Pack Member | Mentions: Kallik, Pack

A brawny, reddish tan colored wolf was resting on his belly, front paws stretching out awkwardly in front of him while his head rest inbetween. It wasn't the most comfortable position for some, but for Casek it was natural, something he had been doing since he was a pup.

Wide head lifting from it's spot, Case directing his golden orbs around to observe the gathering pack near the meeting rock. Leviathan, the new alpha, was seated upon it, but he hadn't heard him call a meeting yet. Was the pack that eager? Or had he just not been paying attention.

"Kallik," baritone vocals rumbled out, raspy from the lack of use in the morning, "did I miss a meeting being called?" He doubted it even as he asked, noticing that while the wolves were gathered, they were more so talking amonst themselves rather than Leviathan actually addressing them. His head cocked to the side, short ears pushing forward to try and catch whispers of the conversations from where he sat to see if they were anything important.

When words did not meet his ears from the group, he snorted and pushed to his haunches, hind leg reaching up to scratch at his neck. "Wonder what all the hublub is about," he murmured, more to himself than his brother. A distant sound, like a weird little yowl, caused the large brute to pause, eyes snaking around to see it's source. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary though, so he just chalked it up to hearing things. He could blame his short ears for that.

Instinctively, almost as if terror was apart of his name, Casek reached over, teeth gripping his brothers ear and pulled on it gently, a playful gesture. He flashed his brother a bit of a grin and bounced out of his haunches and about a foot away. Case was one of those wolves that could, quite literally, bounce from serious to joking and back to serious in the span of mere moments. So this wasn't unusual for the stocky male.

"Imma go see what we're missing out on," he said, gesturing towards the group of gathered wolves with his head. Shaking out his dense coat, the male plodded forward, large paws creating dull thuds in the dirt.

Immediately he walked to the empty spot near Takara, one of the daughters of the demoted Betas, and plopped down beside her. He was familiar with the darker female, not necessarily friends, but he was comfortable enough in her presence to flash her a wide grin. The words of another were addressing for the moment, but that didn't keep him from speaking.

"Good Morning, Ladies. Or is it afternoon?" The brute paused, staring blankly at the ground as he contemplated if it was more morning or more afternoon. Shrugging, the answer not mattering very much, he turned his eyes back to the females he was now surrounded by, plus Akousa. "How are you beautiful creatures doing this fine day?" Casek wasn't trying to flirt or anything, this was just Casek. Friendly, social, and not above cheesing it up to make sure moods stayed lightened.

"Cyre," he spoke, turning amber eyes to the aging wolf, "you are looking particularly radiant today. If I didn't know any better I'd think you were born from the sun and the moon," the large wolf had a soft spot for the elder, reaching out he gently touched his nose to her paw, his smile transitioning from grin to genuine, heartfelt adoration. "I hope you are the most well," he murmured quieter, and while it was definitely adubile for others to hear, it was directed solely towards the elderly female.

The dark-colored male lay idly on his right side next to his brother, a few feet from his den. The area surrounding his den seemed to be pressed deeper into the earth compared to the others, and he had chosen an area that was quite dense and slightly farther from the pack so he could slip away to get moments of peace in the quieter woods. While he did enjoy socializing quite a lot, it was always nice to come back to “his own little space”. A few small rays of light peaked through the branches above him, shifting back and forth, the light seemed to be dancing across his pelt as the leaves rustled in the wind. The light appeared in patches across his coat, warming Kal as he lay on the cool ground.

A daring bird let out a whistle as it darted overhead. As if it knew that Kal would not be able to reach it while he was lying down resting. The little bird landed on a branch a few trees over and he let out a snort, rolling to his stomach and startling the bird in the process. It quickly left the area and the forest turned silent again, Kal gave a slight shake to his pelt as he heard voices coming from the main part of the camp. He caught the word hunt, and immediately strained to hear if a party would be sent out to collect prey. With his coat coloring, Kal had hunted during summer and spring with his coat being mostly black but did occasionally help with the Autumn hunting because of the rest of him being a lighter brown.

The rustling of the leaves soon drowned out the conversation and Kal returned his head to his paws, shooting a glance at his brother he spoke, “Casek, did you hear the others strike up a conversation near the boulder? I wonder if it may concern hunting, I believe I heard someone mention it,” Kal muttered, referring to the boulder their alpha would stand upon to address the pack. If he could be of service to his pack in any way the male would, and he ever so much enjoyed hunting, especially being able to do it a large portion of the year.

But Kal had nearly cut him off as Casek voiced a similar question, directly after, before giving his ear a tug, which Kal quickly returned, not wanting to be outdone by his younger brother, “Actually, I was wondering the same thing-” He started, grinning in response. Then when his brother mentioned heading over there and going to see what was up, Kal gave him a nod and watched as he went off towards the others.

Since his den was among those scattered slightly further away, it was not always in his favor when a meeting was called, or the pack was socializing, as he couldn’t necessarily hear everything. Kal also enjoyed being near others most of the time, and it was a little far from what seemed to be part of the “main flow” of the pack. But of course, it also came with some perks. After all, he could still see most of them from where he was.
