Enigma

Female - Pack Member - 4 years - Mentions: Leviathan, Larkspur

Enigma sat down. That's good… She thought. At least he has some plans. She didn't feel like responding to his statement despite how blunt it was. The energy to speak was absent and it made her depressed. Ugh. She sighed. "Well…", was all she managed to say. She didn't care for the Alpha's tone of voice.

Enigma's attention shifted to Larkspur. She liked her. Seemed pretty naive, but never the less, maybe this wolf could prove otherwise unknowingly to Enigma. She was always cautious around her pack members. Everyone seemed to always have some agenda to fulfill. However, Larkspur seemed to have other things to worry about besides her own plans. Concerned about something, that's for sure.

After listening to Larkspur's comment, slight energy to talk returned to Enigma's tired bones. "I would be delighted to join the hunt." She stated this rather sarcastically, but she couldn't help it. She didn't want to hunt. The black wolf was a lousy hunter, but she would attempt anyways. Maybe to potentially prove herself.

"You're a little too enthusiastic about this Larkspur." Enigma stated bluntly as she scratched her neck with her back paw. It came without a warning or even a simple, 'Good afternoon, Larkspur' before she said what she said. Enigma had a habit of never sugar coating or feeling the need to fill the air with useless small talk. "Also, you seemed concerned about something…" She looked up at the sky, then at Lev, then back at Larkspur. "Everything alright?" She asked in a sympathetic tone.

Takara
Female | 4 Years | Pack Member | Metnions: Leviathan, Enigma, Larkspur, Cyre
Indirect Mentions: Eira, Kyomi, Maeve, Vilho, Cadmus

There hardly seemed to be a day when Takara and her siblings were not affected by their parents. Eira had opened her eyes and seen how untrustworthy the two wolves were, had seen their cruel, manipulative ways and had stepped away from the family bond that had held her captive. Takara had seen wisps of their cruel nature for a long time, but them ordering her to stop supporting Leviathan or lose them brought it completely into the light.

She'd been disowned.

It didn't bother her. At least, not as much as it should have. She'd been detached from her parents for a while. It was, really, only Cadmus that answered to their every beck and call. She and Eira had long-ago stopped being their little servants. And perhaps she should have been bothered by her parents being such horrible creatures, that her brother still offered them his undying loyalty, but she couldn't bring herself to be.

Takara had given up on changing Cadmus' views a long time ago. It was exhausting, draining to the point of stupidity. She only hoped that Eira gave up trying to change their brothers views before it began affecting her more than it already did. You couldn't help someone who didn't wish to be helped, and Cadmus most definitely didn't wish to be helped.

Spotting Leviathan jump up onto the boulder, Takara rose to her paws and began the slow walk over. She kept her gaze on the boulder and the two wolves that had gathered beneath it, catching the tail end of their conversation.

What on earth was Enigma talking about? Going out on the hunt? "It's autumn," she said when she arrived, pointedly gazing at the other black wolf. "Black and white wolves don't leave the camp during autumn. We don't blend in enough," everyone knows this went unsaid, but the ending words were prominent in how she said her sentence. Everyone knew how their pack worked, they'd grown up with that being the way things work.

Rather than linger on Enigma's lapse of memory, the black female looked up at their new leader. "Good luck on the hunt, Alpha," was all she offered, making sure to add the honorifics that his new position demanded, if only because she briefly spotted Vilho watching and listening to her.

She could have reveled in the disgust that flashed across the aging males face whilst at the same time feeling that revulsion in her heart, felt it searing her core with a burning hatred that no parent should have for their offspring. Instead, she turned away and spotted an elder in the pack, Cyre. The retired sentry was a joy to be around, and the calm that the elder offered was something she craved in her very soul, desiring to wash the dirty look of her father off of her pelt.

"Hello, Cyre," she offered as she grew closer, face set in a warm, welcoming and friendly expression. "How are you?"

Ronin
Female | 7 Years | Sentry | Mentions: Koa, Orion, NPC Rivals

Ronin had been resting, a bit lazily actually, beside Koa as they watched. Normally she was an incredibly vigilant wolf, but she was enjoying the few quiet moments of peace they rarely got.

Her head was resting on his back, softly nestled into his fur, her eyes heavily lidded. Her ears twitched at his words and she peeked at him, the faintest of smirks lining her muzzle. "Very," she murmured, her voice thick and soft, like velvet. But his words garnered her attention, and she found her eyes reopening fully, scanning the border with opaque eyes.

Ronin wasn't sure what caught her attention first: the shouts or the fact that Koa had pushed to his feet, effectively sliding her head off him. Grunting she rose immediately after, following his movements so that she stood at the border with him, muscle tense.

Of all the things it could have been, a pup was not what she was expecting. What on-- At his words her muzzle wrinkled into a snarl, a low vibrating growl rumbling deep within her chest. Her tail flicked and she glanced to Koa, nodding at his words. She did not enjoy the idea of leaving him behind to deal with the coming wolves, but she wasn't about to argue with him yet. This was their duty, their responsibility to the pack. She needed to warn Leviathan and the pack of what is happening so reinforcements could be sent in response, and so the pup could be taken care of.

With the pup being older, Ronin knew she couldn't carry him for long, but she held onto him until they were a safe distance away from Koa and set him down with a slight pant. "You are safe, young one," she murmured, pausing look behind her to where she had left Koa. Her ears flicked back, and she let out the barest of whines, but focused back on her path, paws moving forward. "Are you okay to run? Or do you need to go slower?" She wasn't sure how long the pup had been running, but he seemed tired, and it was obvious he had seen things that would likely mentally exhaust him too.

Akousa

Male||Four||Pack Member||Mentions:Leviathan, Enigma, Larkspur(ind)Kyomi, Eira, Takara, others..

Bright hazel eyes glowed between two thick tussocks of grass, the spindly stems quivering with every whispering breeze that blew past at a frustrating pace. Everytime it drifted by he’d wish it’d sift through his fur once more, an aching yearn which disturbed him each time he’d try to dutifully close his eyes, something long overdue. For the past few days he’s been waking early, skipping around the groomed clearing and tending to his work with vigilant eyes; often prettily hunched near the dens to wish those who exited a goodmorning. And each and every time he’d twitch an eager ear for a welcoming response. Raising his head, Akousa would blink almost blearily at the lively bodies shifting about feet before him, and for a moment he allowed his frosty gaze to lock onto Kyomi’s figure, gliding smoothly towards her favorite pack mate. Or well her newly favorite.

It felt like only an hour ago Kyomi was just cuddling up to some other brute. Or at least thats what he had gathered from his latest discovery. The heartbreak still felt fresh, but of course she didn’t notice that. Did she ever notice him at all? All the extra attention he had given her? You didn't even notice she had such a relationship in the pack. -Pushing his intrusive thoughts away, he’d emit a small sigh, slowly letting his chin fall back to his paws like a leaf. It was true. He hadn’t noticed at all. He barely notices anyone unless he wants to. Perhaps that's why it had hit him so hard. With his vision trailing the semi slender frame of the she wolf, it’d soften, glistening with regret and disappointment...momentarily that is. Seconds later the soft glint would harden and his lips would lift for a deep frustrated growl to pass through with ease.

Pups! Is that all she cares about? He had caught mumblings of their conversation, his ears pricked with a keen sense as he drank in every word. “Are they giving you any trouble yet?”

“Ooh Auntie E would be just perfect!”

He snorted irritably, the dramatically altered words mocked throughout his head. She’s not even that far along..With that said, his eyes would flick simultaneously towards her gradually swelling stomach and he’d eye it with reproach before swiftly lifting to his paws and skirting off out of view. Shrugging his shoulders rather casually, Akousa swept his tail against the partial leaf strewn floor, taking a seat where eavesdropping on Leviathan's conversation was plausible. He had Takara now, a female who seemed to have a good head on her shoulders. While he truly liked Kyomi for her sweet and somewhat passive nature, there was just something about Takara that made her alpha quality. Of course there's more than that; a pretty face for one.

Akousa planned on taking Takara as Alpha female once he progressed...and just thinking about the exciting adventures ahead of them got his paws prickling with eagerness. --Midnight runs with only the moons glow guiding their paw steps, brilliant hunts side by side, rushing through bubbling waters while bathed in beautiful twilight…

He had faith that she was different. As long as she doesn’t betray him, he’ll guarantee her that marvelous rank, but of course he’d have to get to it first.. The multi-colored male would stroll forward only moments after Takara’s exit, flicking an ear at Enigma and Larkspur as to acknowledge their presence. “If only my coat weren’t so pale I would have risen to the challenge myself.” Flicking his gaze briefly over Leviathan's figure, he’d add. “Of course winter is almost here. By then I could fulfill such wishes, but for now, I suggest Larkspur. She’s strong and capable.”

“Like Takara said, Enigma would probably be out of place in a season like this.” He spoke whilst curtly eyeing the darker female. “But I'm sure you already knew that.” Even if he was stepping over boundaries about now, which he wasn't, the large Alpha would certainly tarnish his image even further if he were rude to such a friendly, innocent wolf

Dipping his head, he’d step back, fighting the urge to keep his tail from streaking upwards in a surge of confidence.

Leviathan
Male | 5 Years | Alpha | Mentions: Enigma, Larkspur, Takara, Akousa

Leviathan was paying little mind to the female who had originally approached him, letting the attitude she was giving pass over him like the wind. He was used to sour receptions at this point, fully aware he had not gained everyone's approval.

Truthfully, Lev didn't fully care if he gained everyone's approval or not, he was the previous Alpha male's son, he had every intention of leading the pack into the future. Obviously the more approved of he was, the longer he would likely be able to do it and the more he could do. So he was careful to never lose his temper, but he did narrow his eyes a bit at Enigma's attitude.

When Larkspur joined the conversation he allowed his head ot turn, offering a gentle nod in greeting before taking what she said into consideration. She was one of the few he was considering for leading the hunt today, since only the brown colored wolves could go.

"I appreciate that, Larkspur, I will take what you've said into consideration," he nodded his head, though his ears perked when yet another wolf entered the scene. Takara was one of the demoted beta's other pups, one of the two who had abandoned their parents to support him over them. She was a sharp wolf, something he figured she had inherited from her parents. He might not have liked the previous betas much, but they were cunning and resourceful creatures.

He flicked his ears and nodded gently. "Takara is correct, Enigma, you wouldn't be going on this hunt today. Perhaps if there is one during the night though, maybe you could go on that one since your so eager," he stood up as he spoke, giving his dark brown coat a shake. He knew he would call for the meeting here soon, he just wanted a little bit longer...

A more masculine voice cut through any thoughts he was about to have, pulling his attention to the male wolf now joining them. The male seemed harmless enough, but Lev had spent enough time in the background to be wary of others. There was something about Akousa that set him on edge, though he knew not what it was. But it could have just been his general wariness of others too. It would just take time.

"I have taken the season into consideration, Akousa. Even so, I don't think you're too light in color to go. I'm sure everyone would agree you would be an asset to have on the hunt," he responded lightly to the male, and focused forward. His ears twitching as thoughts fled through his mind about the hunt. He had an idea of what he wanted to do, he didn't think his plan would be loved, but that hadn't stopped him yet.

Settling back down on the rock, Lev laid his head down on his paws. He would call for the meeting soon. He just wanted to let the pack have a few minutes before giving out tasks.

Enigma

Female - Pack Member - 4 years - Mentions: Leviathan, Takara, Akousa

Well, well, well. This pack likes tradition. "You do know there's this thing called nighttime." Enigma stated sarcastically. She wanted to say it through her teeth, but she couldn't. Again, there was a lack of energy on her part to even speak at all. What's all the fuss about? Why is this pack so set on traditional hunting rights depending on the season? Enigma had always thought it was stupid. However, the risks of exposing one's self to the rival packs had flown over her head.

Enigma hated the ways both Takara and Akousa spoke to her, especially Akousa. She rolled her eyes at him. They spoke to her like she was a pup. "So then, let me understand how that program works. Just this once. Black wolves can go hunting in the spring and summer at night, but not in autumn and winter at night when it's exactly the same. Night doesn't change you know." Enigma honestly had forgotten this, but still felt the need to defend her position. "Wouldn't that make black wolves more useful than the rest of the pack?" She eyed Lev and Akousa expecting an answer from them, but she didn't really care what they thought.

All of the sudden, however, the need to make an argument for why she thought what she thought ceased. Why argue with these closed minded fleabags anyway? Enigma constantly thought very negatively of the pack and nothing out there was going to change her mind. She stood straight and shook her black pelt as if to show it off. She then glared at Takara. She didn't like her the same way she despised Akousa. By golly, this is going to be an interesting year. She chuckled out loud at her thought.

Lev's suggestion to go "since you are so eager" did raise Enigma's ears. "Well, glad you see it my way." She muttered under her breath.

Eira
Female || 5 years || Pack Member || Mentions: Kyomi, Maeve
Indirectly Mentions: Leviathan, Enigma, Akousa, Takara

The camp had begun to grow busy, Eira could hear it. Her ears were on a constant motion as they twirled around, picking up sounds here and there. She picked up little hints of conversation while speaking to Kyomi. Enigma had approached Leviathan, her words regarding something to do with a hunt. Her eyes had briefly swept onto Leviathan himself. She preferred him over her parents as leaders anytime. And why not? He was the heir. One would think that him demoting her parents would spur a hatred in Eira, but her parents being demoted was a blessing. They had less power, therefore, less ways to control others. In fact, Eira should be thanking Leviathan.

"Huh?" Was suddenly spoken as Eira snapped away from a stranger's conversation and focused on her own. Her eyes trailed back onto Kyomi, who was lifting her paw to reveal her stomach. As if programmed, Eira immediately leaned in, bending her head down to inspect her friend's stomach. "They're coming along," was all she said, nodding her head when Kyomi said that she was alright. "Good. Are you getting enough rest? Enough to eat?" Her mouth opened, prepared to interrogate more before closing it. Kyomi knew enough to take care of herself, so why bother annoying her with unnecessary questions?

Mimicking her friend and sitting down, Eira allowed her gaze to travel once more, this time, landing upon Akousa. She didn't like that male, that part was clear. Something about him was off to her, and she didn't like the way he watched Kyomi, or more recently, Takara. If it were up to her, she would prevent him from exchanging any words with her sister permanently. "I never liked him," she mumbled, both to herself and Kyomi before shifting her gaze away. However, her eyes constantly lingered, watching to see if he conversed with Takara at all.

"Good grief," she then said, tuning into the conversation once more, "Auntie Ear? Perhaps it's better to introduce me when they can say a few words," she teased lightly, a smile dancing around her features. "You know, if you ever need anything, you could always come to-" Eira stiffened, cutting herself off. Her eyes trailed behind Kyomi, landing on another.

She recognized that figure, that scent, that aura.

"Mother."

Her own tone matched her mother's, though with hints of unwelcome hidden. She remained silent, even when a small insult was sent towards Kyomi. Eira had long ago learned that it was no use to argue. It was a waste of her words and breath, especially on somebody that wouldn't listen. "Oh, did Cadmus escape his leash again?" It was a small blow, spoken in monotone. She eyed her mother for a few moments, taking in her face and figure before speaking once more: "I believe he's on his way back to the border." Eira was tense in the presence of her mother. Not from fear, but from uncomfort. It had hurt when she realized who her parents truly were, and she no longer wanted part in it. She would speak to them, but it would never be more than a few sentences. And she would most definitly not support them.

Shifting, Eira broke contact with her mother. Now would certainly be a perfect time for Leviathan to call a meeting.

Cadmus
Male || 5 Years || Sentry || Mentions: Chocktaw
Indirectly Mentions: Takara, Maeve, Vilho, Leviathan

He walked a quickened, stiff pace. Cadmus wanted nothing more but to get as far away from camp as possible. Eira's little outburst earlier had practically made him see red. How could someone disrespect their parents that much? Did she not see what they had sacrificed for them? And to be so rude when they were recently demoted? Did she have no kindness? No compassion? She was just like Takara. Cold, cruel, and heartless. They complained about their parents so much, that Eira and Takara didn't see how similar they were to them.

It was pathetic.

Cadmus walked the path that he always took, making his way to the southern border. He had left Chocktaw there briefly, wishing to check in with the camp and hopefully see his parents. However, all he received was an earful from Eira. He should have stayed put. Eira thought that just because she was the oldest she had more say. "Well, jokes on her," he spoke, muttering to himself before shaking his head. See? The whole family was driving him to insanity, so much so, that he now conversed with himself.

At least he could rant to Chocktaw about this entire ordeal.

That partner of his was a close friend, perhaps even a brother. In fact, Cadmus wished he were a true brother. Chocktaw understood him. Understood Maeve and Vilho. He wasn't like Takara or Eira in that sense, which is why he enjoyed the male's presence so much. So, as he took the twisty path back to the meadow, he increased his gait, hoping to arrive sooner. It was both a long and short walk, and within a good few minutes, Cadmus had arrived.

Now, all he had to do was find where he left Chocktaw. As far as he was concerned, he should be right over..

"I'm back," he spoke, plopping himself alongside of his partner, who was hidden. Laying down, his black fur blended into the darkness of the shadows as he glanced at Chocktaw, already yearning to speak. "You should have seen Eira today. I take one step into camp, one, and there she is already. You would think a simple 'goodmorning, Cadmus' would do, but no, she begins telling me about our parents again, and that causes an argument, and then she has the audacity to walk away before I get the chance to." Muzzle curled up, Cadmus released a deep huff.

Whenever he went into camp, he made sure to inform Chocktaw of everything that happened. Cadmus was surprisingly a gossiper, always spreading information to Chocktaw like a spy. "Leviathan is going to form a hunt later on as well. Besides that, everything is boring." He made sure to curle his lips at the mention of Leviathan.

Leviathan, the male who had hurt his parents and demoted them. That wolf had no sense of leadership anywhere in his small brain. Why Eira supported him was beyond him, but then again, she'd support a deer if it meant their parents would remain out of power. Pausing, he rid his mind of thoughts and focused on Chocktaw. Turning, a grin forming. "I saw Kyomi earlier." Cadmus knew of his partner's feelings towards Kyomi. It would be a difficult situation, given Eira's annoyance to anybody that set foot towards Kyomi or Takara, but Cadmus had a way for Chocktaw to win over his sister's trust. If he proved himself to Eira, it was basically all set. Bloody Eira, always in the middle of everything. Why couldn't she mind her own business and focus on herself instead of everybody else?

"Listen, you go to camp later, I'll stay here. It'll give you a chance to talk to Kyomi. Remember, try to catch her when Eira isn't around. That female is like a parasite. Once she sees you she'll latch on until you leave." Frowning for a moment, he turned back to Chocktaw. "Give me updates as well." Oh, if only they could both leave their positions. He'd distract Eira and give Chocktaw a chance to speak, but that wasn't possible. They simply had to work in shifts for this to work.

Orion
Male || 5 Months || Pup || Mentions: Koa, Ronin

He was going to die. Orion could almost see his life flashing before his eyes. His tiny, meaningless life. What had he done in it? Nothing. He hadn't accomplished anything. Hadn't made any friends. He hadn't grown up and had a family like his mother. He hadn't even gone on a hunt. Now, it was all over before it had even begun. Well, maybe he'd have another shot one day. Maybe then he'd be luckier.

He could see one of the wolves he had hoped would help running towards him. They were going to kill him, weren't they? Orion had no choice but to trust them. Behind him were wolves, and now in front of him as well. He needed to trust them. Needed to hope that they had a heart. Just when the wolf came closer and Orion believed that he was being lunged at, the wolf jumped over him. "Thank you," he managed to squeak out, his words taken over by heavy breathes at having run so much.

The pup glanced around from wolf-to-wolf, unsure of what to do. Unsure of where to go. Who was Leviathan? Were they part of a pack? Oh no, what if he led the wolves chasing him here, and now they were going to kill this pack like they killed his? Orion had hardly a moment to think before he was picked up by the scruff and carried. He was too old for this and too heavy. His own mother couldn't even lift him, though it made sense since she were thinner and small. These wolves looked powerful and strong.

"Get him," was all Orion heard from the enemies before being carried away.

His chests heaved in an attempt to catch his breath, and adrenaline rushed through him as he was being carried. And just like that, he was then set down. Blinking, he turned around eagerly. Was she sure that they were safe? This was like deja vu all over again. "I'm sorry," was all he managed to muster. He shouldn't have come. Now this female had left her partner, and he was probably getting attacked. What if Orion caused a death by coming here? But now he was safe. Didn't that matter more? If so, why didn't he feel better?

"I need to.. My mother," he began, staring blankly. "I need to help her! She was fighting and then she fell. She told me not to help her so I didn't. I shouldn't have listened, but she told me to stay hidden. I was always a good listener, but I shouldn't have done what she said in that moment. Do you think she's only sleeping? That's possible." Talking to himself slightly, Orion shook. He knew his mother wasn't sleeping, but he wanted to believe that she was. His siblings, too. They were sleeping as well. Yeah, that's what happened!

Snapping away from his collection of mumbles when the female spoke, Orion managed a nod. "I can run." Standing up, he ignored the ache in his legs or the pounding of his heart. Maybe he should dart. He could leave both wolves behind now that the enemies were occupied, but Orion couldn't bring himself to be that selfish. "He.. He needs help, doesn't he?" He asked the female regarding her partner. She must have heard the words spoken by the group. She must know that they were going to attack. "We should go. We should run. We should get help." Nodding, it was clear that Orion was in the midst of panic.

Why did he have to be so helpless?

Kyomi
Female | 4 Years | Pack Member | Mentions: Eira, Akousa, Maeve
The autumn colored she wolf stayed safely behind the paler form of the other she wolf, allowing herself to relax a bit knowing she didn't have to face Maeve's wrath. The female intimidated Kyomi, her confidence, poise, and the venom she spoke with set the female on edge. She couldn't understand how someone who could act so regal hold be so cruel.

While Eira was focused on her mother, Ky let her eyes wander to the other wolves. In particular the one she had mentioned earlier right when her mother had walked up. He was a male of similar coloring to her, though paler, and had a tall and lean stature to him. There was something feminine to him without making him seem less male. It gave him an odd innocence though she doubted anyone in the pack was innocent anymore.

"Huh," she breathed softly, her ears twitching as her eyes lingered. She knew of the male, barely, but didn't really know him all that well herself. "I hadn't really ever noticed him," she stated and then shrugged her eyes shifting back to Maeve as the female curled her lip at the pair, disgust evident on her face. Vile woman.

"Jealousy isn't a good color on you Eira. You shouldn't treat Cadmus poorly just because his value comes from himself, and not through breeding," her words were cruel, laced with a poison she hoped would sink into Eira's pores. Which is when her eyes drifted to Kyomi, "though what you depends a lot on what company you keep. And we already know what garbage you decide to surround yourself with." The female clicked her teeth together as she spied Kyomi's ears flatten.

"Oh well, pity me, I'll have to catch my dearest son another time. Maybe then you won't ruin his stay here with your inflammatory delusions," the older wolf turned and began to saunter aware, a prideful pep in her elegant step.

Kyomi grumbled and sat down a bit behind Eira, her eyes trained forward. "Sometimes I forget how vile that female is," the quiet wolf whispered, voice barely audible. It wasn't until after she had gotten pregnant that she had really seen the pairs ways, especially Maeve's. She tried not to let it bother her, but it was hard not to sometimes.
