Athena gave a lazy yawn her tongue sticking out when she opened her mouth wide and entering her mouth when she closed it again. Her ears flickered as she listened to the goings on in the pack. She gave a groaned huff as she raised herself to her feet her old bones really making her feel her age today. Her eye lids drooped lazily as her amber eyes scanned the camp. Athena gave a shake to shake some of the dust out of her pelt.

Athena kinda had the markings of a gray wolf even though through her age it had lightened a great amount. She lowered her upper half and reached her paws out underneath her giving another lazy yawn as she stretched her upper half. Raising herself again she put her weight on her front paws as she stretched each hind leg allowing her body to stretch to its full length. Once she finished stretching she shook out her fur once again.

She gave another huff and a small grumble at the way her bones ached today. “Must be the weather. Rain, and other weather always causes my bones to ache like this.” She mumbled to herself. She stepped from the shadows of the trees and out into the warm sun. Her nose raising to the air and a smile coming upon her face as the sun soothed her bones and old muscles. She took a deep breath of the fresh air and opened her eyes again.

Her ear twitched as she heard the commotion and slowly made her way to investigate what was going on. Noticing it was a pup giving news about one of their sentries was in trouble. She watched as Levi gathered a group of wolves to help them. Knowing she wasn't one issued to look after the pup she still padded over to it and gave him a small nudge inspecting him, her maternal insticts being greater than one of the orders given by the alpha.

She meant no disrespect to the alpha and was still ever loyal to him, she just always has had a soft spot for pups even though she never had any of her own, which was why she was always so eager to watch over the pups and young ones while their parents were busy doing their duties.

Maikoh wasn't sure on how to feel about there alpha. She was neutral on the whole situation. Silently watching the pack from behind a bush or two. She watched as some calmly chatted and some argued. But she new for fact that she wanted to hunt she longed for it. The feeling of the chase after the wait was simply amazing.

But an adorable cream colored pup came into the camp rambled of some words and collapsed ruining her thoughts of hunting. "Well that's a new one." She whispered as shook dirt from rich creamy red pelt. Moving out from behind her hiding spot she looked directly at her new alpha. Watching to see what he would do in this situation and was actually kinda saddened that she wasn't invited to go with them. But none the less she knew her part here was just as important.

Her friend athena had quite the maternal instinct and she wasn't surprissed when she walked over to the pup. Simply she decided to do the same. Gently she brushed against her friend then looked down at the pup. He sure was an adorable pup then again maikoh has always had a thing for pups. "So what do you think of the pup?" Taking a deep breath she picked up that the pup was in pretty ruff shape. But his looks had already gave that away. "It would be nice to have a pup in the pack." She whispered not caring if anyone heard her.

The onyx dame shrugged her shoulders at the praise from Cyre, smile soft. Her parents not seeing her the way Cyre did, the way a mother should, wasn't something new. Her parents had never really been parents to her. They'd expected too much, and were often disappointed.

Looking back at Akousa, the black female paused, brain lagging in what to say. She knew she couldn't accept, legs shuffling beneath her awkwardly in the few moments that her mind searched for a reason to refuse. It wasn't that she disliked Akousa, not like Eira did, more that the male made her uncomfortable. She had, sometimes, spotted the way he looked at Kyomi, and noted how he had transferred his attention to her. Was it the same level of infatuation? She didn't know, but she didn't want to be alone with him.

"Oh, uh-" She started, smile warm, turning her head to catch the grin that the male, Casek, gave her upon his arrival. "Casek and I made plans to eat together." Her face framed one of an apologetic nature, nodding towards a male that wasn't quite a 'close' friend, but certainly a friend nonetheless. "Sorry, Akousa."

Takara's head snapped up at the sound of a howl, and she instantly rose to her paws. The howl came from the east, and the sentries from that direction, Ronin and Koa, weren't at camp. If anything, the deep, almost panicked noise seemed similar to a noise she would imagine coming from Koa. Had Koa howled?

No sooner than those thoughts had entered her brain, a pup burst into the camp. She remained still, but her eyes locked onto the pups pale figure.

Ronin sent me! Ronin and Koa! They need help!

So it had been Koa's howl, and their eastern sentries were in trouble. Had Ronin been transporting the pup home, leaving Koa at the border as their training demanded, and turned back to help him? Had they both been fighting and directed the pup on how to get to their camp? No, both of the sentries were too responsible for that.

The onyx female listened closely to Leviathan's words, already surging forward when his commands left her and two others in charge of the pup. Before she got there, though, the elder Athena and the pack member Maikoh got there. Irritation flared within her at the blatant disrespect they held for their leader, disobeying his orders in such a way.

"Hey!" Her tone was loud and, honestly, rasher harsh. She was quickly upon them, using her shoulder to gently scoot the two wolves back, doing a quick, tight circle around the pup. "Leviathan told us to get the pup to a den, not you. He'll be perfectly fine with Kyomi, Cyre and I. Join the others on lookout." It might not have been her place to give such orders, but someone had to take a commanding role whilst Leviathan was out of the camp, and she refused to let her parents rise to that position.

She might not have been the most muscular wolf, but the dame could lift the pup for a short time. Long enough to make it to her den, at least, given that hers wasn't far from the middle of the camp. She settled the passed out juvenile within it, quickly returning to the outside world, eyes darting across to Kyomi and Cyre.

"He's in my den," she called, as if they might not have seen, before looking at the three wolves Leviathan had left on guard duty. "Can you three please do a quick perimeter check? We can be fairly sure that the pup wasn't followed, but I'd like to be sure before any of us get anywhere near settled."

And now, they waited.

Ever since that odd, unsettling sound had reached the Sentry’s ears, the large male had gone ramrod stiff. He could’ve sworn he had just imagined it as the rest of the pack seemed to lack a reaction to it. It wasn’t like the noise he had heard was anything special. It wasn’t a howl, but then again it wasn’t a noise that resonated well within his brain. His attention was divided; one of his ears angled sharply towards the Eastern woods while the other twitched to funnel in the sounds of the bustling pack behind him.

Aridam had been ready to forget the noise, after all they were in the middle of the depths of the forest. Bizarre sounds and odd occurrences happened on occasion. The black wolf’s posture slacked minutely, his short tail giving an irritated flick as he tried to focus his attention on something else. Ari’s senses felt fried and the boding sense of dread that drenched his fur made his stomach curl. But it wasn’t as if anything was wrong, right?

That train of thought had quickly been rapidly extinguished at the piercing howl- Ari was sure even the deaf would’ve been able to hear it. Not that it was particularly loud, but the Sentry couldn’t remember the last time he’s heard a howl. The pack just didn’t howl, at this point it felt wrong to even hear the echoing decibels. But the fact that there was in fact a howl just made things infinitely worse. Aridam was familiar with the other Sentry pairs- even if he hadn’t been aware of the fact that the noise came from the East, he would’ve known it to be Koa.

The unsuspected noise had the large male jerking back slightly, his ears pressed flat against his skull as his eyes automatically went to scan the surrounding forest line. A howl meant danger to the highest degree. And when the Sentry saw the foliage twitch with oncoming movement, he was more than prepared to fling himself into a brawl.

But it wasn’t what Ari might’ve been expecting, hearing a howl of that magnitude. It wasn’t a bear- hell Aridam wouldn’t really even say it was a wolf. It was a pup. Exhausted and mussed beyond all belief. This reveal didn’t have his hackles smoothing, however.

The male was not a fan of pups, yes. That perhaps played a factor into it all, but Aridam was not dumb. The least suspecting can, and tend, to do the most damage. And the fact that Leviathan treated the pup as such just gave him more reason to keep his guard high and his senses aware.

It was only after Leviathan deemed the pup to be of minimal risk, or no risk at all- likely because the clump of fur had collapsed- did the Alpha began divvying out orders. Aridam heard the command directed at him loud and clear, his large head giving a strong nod as he barked out a low, gravelly “Yes Alpha!”

The words hadn’t really even finish leaving his muzzle before his body was sharply turning, and he was off in a blur of black fur towards the Western borders. It felt odd to be heading the opposite direction of the pack, after all Ari had the innate desire to help his packmates, but the Sentry knew his duties. He was needed elsewhere, and his fellow pack members were more than capable of looking after one another. He could only imagine the fury Ronin would possess.

The white female’s ears gave a twitch, she raised her head as a distant howl sounded. Her eyes widened and she pushed herself onto her paws. A surge of adrenaline rushed through her, there must be trouble at the border, and she noticed that some of her other pack mates heard it too. A strange pup then burst into the clearing, “Help!” he gasped, and Ro strained to hear his next words, "Ronin and Koa! They need help,” and then he collapsed.

Leviathan acted quickly and gave out instructions on what to do next. "Eira, Kallik, Enigma, and Akousa, you all come with me. Rojanae, Casek, Klaos you all stay here to protect the dens and the others.”

“Of course,” she nodded, before padding out towards the others, she had to admit, while she was still unsure of their new alpha, he seemed to handle the situation decently. With the pack at possible risk, she stayed hyper-aware of her surroundings. Eyes trained on Leviathan as he darted off to go assist the sentries. A few pack members approached the pup but were quickly told off by a pack member that had been appointed to take care of him.

Ro whipped around to look for the others that were supposed to be on guard with her and found Klaos a ways away, ears shoved forward and eyes trained on the forest just to the right of where the pup had come from. She was thinking about backtracking the scent to see if anyone had followed when a voice called out asking for a perimeter check. Ro recognized it as Takara, “Yes, I’ll track his scent back a little way, and then check the area around it, just to make sure that he actually was not followed,” she nodded, wanting to be extra cautious about the pup's arrival.

The female quickly got to work, her hearing was excellent so she immediately put her ears to work and nose near the ground. Trotting off towards the edge of camp where the pup had stumbled in. All she could hear was the dissent pounding of paws on the ground as Leviathan and the others left. The wind rustled the leaves and she inhaled deeply, the smell of rain was distant in the air, but the pup’s scent was strong.

Ro set off in that direction, as silent as she could be, not knowing if she would meet another wolf. The forest was dense so it was a bit harder to find clues on the direction that he came from, but Ro still had his scent. The white wolf did not stray too far from the camp, but after looking around his trail she was confident that he was not followed directly. She turned around and quickly ran back to camp. If he was followed, maybe the intruders had taken another direction and Ro itched to get back to the camp.

She arrived to find, Klaos still on high alert, and he had moved on to check the southern part of camp but didn’t seem to find anything over there. Ro let out a sigh of relief and continued her check before noticing Casek. She headed over in his direction and greeted him with a nod. “Did you notice anything strange?” she asked, knowing that he had also been put on guard, “I followed the pups trail back a little ways and didn’t scent another wolf,”

Maikoh wans't a big fan of some of her pack mates. But she understood what she needed to do. So with that she put her hunting skills to use. Walking a little bit away from the camp but not to far she started her mission. To make sure there were no strangers around, even though rojanae had already checked it was always good to have a second opinion. Right?

She listened intensely to her surrounding but not hearing much to worry about. Just the sound of leviathan and the others heading up to help there pack mate. Leaves rustled with the moving of the wind bringing her new scents. But no stranger scents which was good, she did a lap around there camp making sure to stay down wind. Then she headed back feeling a little more secure about there home.

Once she got back she decided to see how they were doing on food. It wasn't good but soon it would be and the pack could have full bellies. With full bellies maybe everyone will think a little more clearer. Things have been crazy lately and it seemed to get worse by the second. "I long for a time of calmness." She whispered and wagged her tail slightly at such a thought.

She was foolish that's for sure. Most didn't like her and she was actually kind a okay with that. She didn't really long for the company of others like most seem to. Some times it just better to be alone then it is to be with someone else. Having a clear mind instead of stressful mind was best. Wondering back over to the center of the camp she spotted the two females Nikki and Takara. And decided to keep a little bit of distance from the two.
