Crooked Teak

Crooked Teak was gratified to see Hawk's Nest spring into action, and quite surprised to find the young wolf faster than he was. He knew, of course, that Hawk's Nest was full of energy, but his leg problem hardly seemed like an issue now. He checked behind him for Silent Water and Night Hawk and found neither one of them there. Come to think of it, had Silent Water even been with them this whole time? Growling under his breath, Crooked Teak watched Hawk's Nest look after Raven Shadow.

Silent Water showed up out of nowhere, and Crooked Teak glowered at him as he helped Hawk's Nest tend to the wounds. He had a certain innate knowledge of herbs, yes, but his lack of dedication to his pack was showing more than ever. Raven Shadow explained what had happened to her, sounding rather embarrased, and then laid down to let Silent Water tend to her. Glancing around once more for Night Hawk, Crooked Teak spotted him with a pheasant in his jaws, which meant he had stopped to hunt.

"You," Crooked Teak snarled at Raven Shadow, not bothering to be as nice as he often was with Raven Shadow, "You're allowed to go hunting alone, but at the very least show some intelligence and look for easier prey instead of trying to climb a tree. When we allow you to hunt alone, we trust that you can look after yourself." Crooked Teak turned to Silent Water. "And you. Where have you been? I told you to come hunting with us. If you can't contribute to your pack, at the very least pretend you care!" Crooked Teak now turned his angry gaze to Night Hawk. "You have done nothing but disobey me on this hunting trip. Next time one of your packmates is in danger, I expect you to value their life over a mouthful of meat, understood? This pack works as a unit, like it or not, and you need to learn to work with others."

Crooked Teak was obviously about to lose his temper with them. Had he really just suggested Silent Water and Night Hawk as Panshea? He doubted now that either of them would ever amount to anything. "You did very well, Hawk's Nest," he added as an afterhtought, still sounding rather irritable. "Now," he said. "Silent Water can apply the herbs to Raven Shadow's wounds, and if she can walk-" he hardly looked like he'd accept it if she couldn't "-we'll take her back to camp to be looked after, at which point we will all go out hunting, Silent Water included, and I will give the orders. Any questions?" Crooked Teak glared at them, looking from Raven Shadow to Silent Water to Night Hawk.

Hawk's Nest
Hawk's Nest grins at all the praise he's getting... and then his leg finally catches up to him. Although he doesn't even let out a squeak, you can see the blatant look of agony on his face. However, he simply bears with it and nods at Crooked Teak's words. He then tries to nudge Raven Shadow onto her feet and get her to lean against him so they can walk back to the pack's camp. As inconsiderate as he can be sometimes, Hawk's Nest does still care about his pack. "Alright, chamomile. Chamomile it is." He stops to think. "Should help You relax too, Raven Shadow." He turns to Silent Water. "Do you know how to find any?"

Night Hawk
Night Hawk rolled his eyes at the beta. Hunting trips were hunting trips. The ranks didn't really count when all you needed to do was catch something. Night Hawk would rather hunt with Burning Flame and deal with her talking that Crooked Teak. At least she knew when it was best to split up. Night Hawk glared back at Crooked Teak as he glared at them.

Honestly, Night Hawk didn't care about what the beta said at this point. The pack law was to bring prey back with you on a hunting party. And what was the point of 4 wolves bringing back one? It was a terrible plan and one that they would have to explain to Stargazer. Night Hawk was thankful he got the pheasant then. Night Hawk got up shaking his pelt out, unfazed by the beta. His face was in his neutral state, other than his annoyed twitch of his ear. He stalked out of the clearing towards camp before coming in to find Flame talking to Running Dawn. No, let's rephrase that-Flame annoying Running Dawn.

Night Hawk dropped his pheasant on the pile before going over to her. "Maybe instead of talking Running Dawn's ear off, you could come hunting with us?" Night Hawk asked, sitting down. Burning Flame looked over at him before saying, "Sure! I need to stretch my legs anyway. Where is the rest of your hunting party?" Night Hawk flicked his ears, "Helping Raven Shadow get back. She fell out of a tree." Burning Flame flicked her ears back, "The poor dear, what was she doing in a tree? Wolves don't climb trees for those reasons. Maybe after we get back and she is better, I can teach her how to hunt birds." Burning Flame went off, talking as usual. Night Hawk listened half the time, mostly because it was better than listening to Crooked Teak.

Hawk's Nest
(I'm gonna eventually have to go back and fix his name in my posts)

Hawk's Nest is appalled that Night Hawk would dare to abandon a packmate. He almost goes after Night Hawk to give the wolf a piece of his mind, but he remembers Raven Shadow being here and holds himself back. That doesn't stop him from growling loudly as Night Hawk leaves, though. That old fox is going to get hell whenever Hawk's Nest gets back.

Raven Shadow
Raven Shadow quickly stood up not showing any signs of pain."I can walk just fine..."She built up the self-confedence to say to the beta. The short line of what she said was very out of character for her.Raven Shadow looked at all the others before setting off at a slow but steady pace back to camp her bushy tail swishes effortlessy behind her."I don't want to be or feel like a burden to them..."She thought to herself as she stopped to see if they were behind her.

Silent water

"And you. Where have you been? I told you to come hunting with us. If you can't contribute to your pack, at the very least pretend you care!"

Though Crooked Teak's frustration wasn't unnatural, Silent water was slightly taken aback. What was the use of pretending to be dedicated, when he was already deeply devoted?

Of course I'm dedicated to the pack.
I have nothing else to be dedicated to anyways.

Silent water had an urge to snap back at Crooked and spout out a couple "wisecracks", though he knew it'd only tick him off more, and Silent wasn't looking for an argument. He accepted his faults with a subtle nod.

After he finished applying the crushed cloves, Raven Shadow stood up, apparently trying to ignore the pain.

"I- I can walk just fine," she muttered, and started to walk away.

"Are you sure everything's okay now?
At least sit down or something, you'll shake off all the herbs. And I still haven't added the chamomile!" Silent said quickly. "Well, I'm going to go fetch it anyway. Don't wander too far..."

Silent stood up and padded away from the clearing, towards the place he'd spotted the chamomile patch.

Burning Flame
Burning Flame got up to stretch. She looked around before walking towards the entrance, "Might as well catch up to them now, shall we?" She said back at Night Hawk. Night Hawk shrugged before following her.

Burning Flame made her way down before spotting Raven Shadow who looked to be trying to ignore pain. Shaking her head, she headed down before guiding Raven Shadow to a nook in a tree. "You can stay here and rest until we have someone to look at you. No ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to see those scratches looked at so they don't get infected." Flame said, settling Raven Shadow down at the tree.

Burning Flame went back to the path, finding Night Hawk waiting for her. They started out again before finding Silent Water picking up chamomile. Burning Flame cocked her head curious before seeing Night Hawk go help him a little bit. Once Night Hawk and gotten a little chamomile, he placed it next to Silent Water before sitting down next to Burning Flame.

Burning Flame looked around before asking Silent Water, "Is that for Raven Shadow? She is in a nook of a tree not too far from here if so. And where is Crooked Teak?" She also sat down, awaiting his answer while taking in the sounds of the forest.

Crooked Teak

Crooked Teak saw a look of pain flash across Hawk's Nest, but chose to ignore it. If Hawk's Nest truly needed hhelp, he could ask for it. Otherwise Crooked Teak trusted him to grow from the pain and not let it get the best of him. Crooked Teak didn't offer to let Raven Shadow lean up against him - again, he assumed she'd ask for hlep if she needed it - but wasn't surprised to see Hawk's Nest do so. His main focus right now, though, was Night Hawk, whose disrespect at this moment was threatening to send Crooked Teak into a yelling rage. Crooked Teak suppressed the urge, less because he didn't want to yell at Night Hawk and more because he didn't want to scare the nearby prey away.

Night Hawk took off without everyone, and Crooked Teak sat still for a second before turning sharply to Raven Shadow. He looked for a moment as though he were going to snap at her, but his voice was surprisingly calm as he said, "Fine, go ahead." Silent Water called after her in concern and offered to get her some chamomile. Knowing that Raven Shadow was going to be fine, Crooked Teak would have chosen to keep hunting. Unfortunately, the only wolf left now was Hawk's Nest, as everyone else had left.

"We'll wait on the others to return," Crooked Teak instructed him, still was some bite to his voice. He wasn't entirely sure they would return. For all he knew, Night Hawk had decided to hunt alone and Silent Water had wandered off again. Why oh why had Stargazer told him to hunt with Night Hawk? He didn't doubt her judgement, of course - or so he told himself. But Night Hawk drove him nearly as crazy as Waning Moon. "You handled yourself very well, Hawk's Nest," said Crooked Teak, sighing. "And what can we learn from this experience?" At this very least, this might be a good lesson on how to not be an insufferable ass.

Stargazer
Stargazer watched the hunting patrol and walked out of her den to sit down close to the middle of the clearing. She looked around watching the peaceful camp for a bit before allowing herself to lay down. Not sooner than she did, Night Hawk came back with an annoyed expression on his face.

Stargazer sat back up, watching as he laid a pheasant onto the prey pile before stalking over to Burning Flame. She flicked her ears, knowing that Night Hawk must be in a bad mood if he's allowing Burning Flame to talk his ears off. Isn't he supposed to be with Crooked Teak? She thought to herself before flicking her ears.

The beta and hunter needed to learn to get along and know how to help each other to grow. True, Crooked Teak didn't have to grow in much other than patience but that's one of the reasons why she sent him with Night Hawk. You needed a lot of patience to get along with the male. Stargazer snapped out of her thoughts as Burning Flame and Night Hawk walked out of camp, most likely catching up with the hunting party.

Stargazer's thoughts wandered back to who she should pick for Panshea. Even though Crooked Teak had said Night Hawk, she already knew that he wouldn't suit the job. He was devoted to his pack, yes but he had no knowledge of herbs nor was he interested. Silent Water, on the other hand, had experience with herbs but Stargazer didn't know if he would be interested. He had been sortof close with the last Panshea too though.

Stargazer finally shook her pelt. She had decided. She knew who she was going to choose. Now to wait for dusk. There was still work to do though, including moving the dead Panshea out of her den, burying her and cleaning up the mess. She would have to gather a few strong stomach wolves to do that. Maybe when Burning Flame and Crooked Teak came back. Sighing, she walked back to her den where she laid down to watch the little activity there was down below.

Hawk's Nest
Hawk's Nest waits for Crooked Teak to finish talking, ignoring most of the chaos around him at the moment. "No matter what your task is, you can't ignore another packmate that's hurt." He glances around to see if Night Hawk is nearby. "And you certainly don't sit around arguing with someone who knows better than you instead of being useful." He growls softly, still more than a bit annoyed.
With Raven Shadow safely tucked into some tree roots, Hawk's Nest finally lets himself sit down, exausted and burning with pain. He lets out a small whine from the pain of his joints shifting, but not much else. Though, that's not much of a surprise for him.
