Night Hawk Night Hawk looked up as Stargazer said this before flattening his ears. The Panshea was dead which means they would have to pick a new one and then an apprentince. That would get in the way of things except for hunting.
Burning Flame
Burning Flame flicked her ears, half surprised of this news. She was also sad, she liked the last Panshea. And to be killed in her own den, that was sick. She looked around at the others before saying quietly, "What about more patrols? With more of those and a night watch, we could protect the camp better." She looked at Crooked Teak before looking up at Stargazer.

Hawk's Nest Hawk's nest was actually really close to the Stargazer when she started howling. The fact that she woke him up annoyed him a bit, but seeing the chaos of the camp, and that it was Stargazer who called, makes him keep his mouth shut. He looks straight to her to find out what is happening, sitting up as best he can with his bad hip. Hawk's Nest's eyes darken at Stargazer's news. "Killed in her own den? What kind of dishonorable creature would do this?! We need to have tighter border patrols so no more intruders can get in and do this!!" In his rage, Hawk's Nest stands straight up, then lets out a sharp yelp as the joints in his hip grind against each other. He still won't sit back down, however.

Crooked Teak Crooked Teak immediately puffed himself up as Stargazer began talking, but his ears flattened as she mentioned the murder of the Panshea. Unlike the others, he kept his outburst to himself, but he was equally as astonished. He was tempted to snap at everyone not to panic, to handle things in an orderly fashion, but Stargazer had already moved on to asking for advice. Crooked Teak was very proud to see Burning Flame and Hawk's Nest be the first two to offer up their ideas, pushing through the shock to be of service to their pack. "Increased border patrol and watches sound like an excellent idea," said Crooked Teak, looking out over them to make sure they were listening and then turning to Stargazer. "And I believe what we also need is every wolf accounted for and someone near them at all times. Our Panshea was killed, and nobody knew until now. Had somebody been nearby, this tragedy might have been prevented. That means no more wolves going off on their own," here he glanced at Raven Shadow, "for hunting or other purposes. If they have nothing to do, they should be on patrol or joining a hunt with others." Was it a bit much? Well, yes, of course it was, but that was typical of Crooked Teak. He didn't seem aware that he might have hurt Raven Shadow's feelings by singling her out, nor did he seem to have been angry when he mentioned her. He was quiet now, half waiting for Stargazer to respond and half waiting for some idiot to protest his advice. Edited at May 12, 2021 11:02 AM by Freedom

Stargazer Stargazer listened to everyone, nodding to Crooked Teak before nodding to Flame. "Here is what we is going to happen. We will send double the patrols to check the borders and the forest out. Hunting patrols will be as normal but they must wait until after the patrols have come back. Yes, you may hunt by yourself still but you must be back by sun high and then before dusk. We will assign night watches and this duty will rotate."
She looked each one of them in the eye before continuing, "While we are all here, I would like to announce that I will be picking the new Panshea and announcing it tonight at dusk. Everyone please be here by that time to congratulate your new Panshea." Dipping her head, she said, "Patrols will be organized and sent out now. Running Dawn and Burning Flame, please pick 1-2 wolves to go on patrol with you. Hunting parties can go out after the patrols make it back."
Done with her speech, she stood there a moment longer before jumping off the rock. She looked around as the pack dispersed before saying, "Crooked Teak to my den please." She needed to speak with him of who to make the new Panshea. She padded over to her den where she sat down to wait for Crooked Teak to join her.

Silent water
Killed and found in her den.
Silent water's eyes widened in shock. The panshea, dead? Silent's eyes looked around, as if this was all a prank and she was still alive, hiding and ready to jump out and scare them. But there was nobody other then the gathered group Silent sat with. This is now the entirety of the pack, Silent thought, letting it sink in. Everyone. (A little short, apologies. )

Hawk's Nest Hawk's Nest gets himself up again and walks over to Running Dawn and Burning Flame. "I'll go on patrol with you." Although he is limping, it's not as bad as it usually is. Still, he probably shouldn't be heading out with the patrol. He'll be hard to convince though.

Crooked Teak Crooked Teak listened attentively as Stargazer detailed what changes were going to be made to protect the pack. He nodded along almost unconsciously, agreeing with everything Stargazer said even when she turned down his suggestion. He raised his head as Stargazer looked around at all of them. He knew the extreme importance of the Panshea in the pack, and knew that whoever was chosen would have quite a lot of responsibility - which meant it needed to be someone responsible. If Crooked Teak weren't already beta, he certainly would have been hoping for the position. Running Dawn and Burning Flame were chosen to lead patrols - the two best wolves for the job, Crooked Teak thought, pleased with Stargazer's choice. Even if Running Dawn needs some work. Crooked Teak was pleased to see Hawk's Nest volunteer eagerly. He had high hopes for that boy. Hearing Stargazer summoning him, Crooked Teak strode after her towards her den, trusting that Burning Flame would take care of it if any arguments broke out. He sat as soon as he came in, still looking down on Stargazer slightly because of his height. Out of respect, he waited for her to be the first to speak, his undivided attention on her.

Stargazer Stargazer watched the pack mingle, seeing Hawk's Nest volunteer eagerly. She also watched Crooked Teak come in, looking at her waiting for her to speak. She flicked her ears before saying, "We need to pick a new Panshea. There are several wolves that could fill the spot but we must narrow it down. Any suggestions?" She turned to Crooked Teak, her eyes focusing on him only. She respected him and he knew the pack just as well as she did.
Burning Flame
Burning Flame nodded to Stargazer as she told her and Running Dawn to be head of patrols. Hawk's Nest came up and volunteered and she said, "You can go to the North with Running Dawn. I will take another wolf to the south. We each can go in a half circle through the perimeter of the territory to cover more ground." Flame looked around before calling out, "Waning Moon, you can come on patrol with me." She turned back, catching a glimpse of Crooked Teak disappearing into Stargazer's den before she nodded to Running Dawn. Walking over to Waning Moon, she waited for her before starting to walk towards the south side of the clearing.

Hawk's Nest Hawk's Nest nods and looks to Running Dawn, waiting for the signal to go. While he waits, he does his first smart thing in a while and sits down, resting his bad leg so that it won't hurt as much during the patrol. "I'm ready to go anytime."
