Noise was different underwater, Quinn had found. It was muffled, like when the world is covered in snow, yet undenyable loud. There wasn't a silent moment in the water. It also wasn't that she heard things rather, she felt them. So, with the feeling that something was getting closer, and the push of the water, Quinn was watching the door carefully when Ripley came in. Her eyes narrowed for a moment, and allowed her tentacles to relax from the stiff position they had been in when Ripley entered, "It is fine. Are you looking for Kiache?"

Ripley's black eyes narrowed in on Quinn before they realized it was just Quinn. It wasn't really their fault that they were suspicious of Quinn. After all, they regularly fought people who looked very similar to her. "Yes, I am, and I realize staring is rude. I am sorry, I am not used to people like you here. As in your lower half. I am still on edge from earlier today, my apologies." Ripley gestured to their patched up arm that was tinged with pink. The bleeding was being annoying and returning. Hopefully they didn't attract any sharks.

Quinn didn't blame Ripley for not trusting them, especially since she looked like the enemy. Yeah, Quinn knew all about that. "It doesn't bother me," Ripley seemed awkward, almost, like they didn't want to be offensive while also telling the truth. Quinn hummed, which was muffled in the water, when Ripley pointed to the bandage, "What happened?"

Quinn had gotten Ripley right, while Ripley themselves did not know a single thing Quinn was thinking. The new Mer was just plain confusing to Ripley who was used to no contact with strangers, unless they were fighting them of course. Emotions and thoughts were just not Ripley's thing. "I was training with my mentor when we were attacked by the other Mer. It was an easy fight while my mentor got out intact I was a little injured. It is not bad, at least that is what my mentor says. I am not exactly allowed to look at it." It was all a part of the training, Ripley was not allowed to look at any injuries they may obtain. Even if it stung, it was just how Ripley would gain endurance and pain tolerance.

Quinn stared at the wound, her mind turning, "If you are not allowed to look at it, then how will you patch yourself up when you are hurt?" There may not always being someone around. Quinn unconciously rubbed along her arm, where her human shirt still remained. Quinn was not nearly as bold as the Mer who were used to this, and Jack, who was a male. It seemed like an odd thing to do, but it was Mer culture. Humans did things that Mer would find odd or stupid (mostly stupid) as well.

(Well even Jack's not taking off his bloody shirt lol) Ripley shrugged, their eyes flicking between Quinn and their injured arm. "Well I suppose it may be a problem in the future but I'm not allowed to look at it. I mean, I want to, but I shouldn't. My mentor would be upset with me. They say that the best warriors learn to ignore their pain and just fight through it." The conflicting emotions in Ripley's eyes told that they weren't exactly sure if they themselves believed it.

"It is not my business anyways," Quinn's gaze was blank, "You were looking for Kiache." It was not a question, "She went out, saying something around the lines of just wanted to be free. She headed.." Quinn thought about the direction, "East, I believe." After Kiache had been gone for a few minutes, Quinn had asked the guards which direction she went in, and they had pointed off to the east.

Ripley nodded, the corners of their mouth lifting into an almost smile before an almost curious expression appeared on their face. "Thank you, oh and I have a question. Not to be rude or anything but I was just curious. Humans have to different genders right? Make and female, like sharks or dolphins, and that's why you call Kiache a 'she' and Jack a he.'" Ripley still couldn't believe that humans had two different genders, it was such an odd thing. It wasn't unheard of in the animal kingdom but Mer were far more advanced than all that basic stuff. They didn't need genders.

Quinn nodded, "Yes. Gender is quite stupid, and a few people are more free formed, like the Mer. After a while of being labeled, it becomes apart of who you are. I am a She, Jack is a He, and Kiache, because of her physical appearance, was labeled as a She. I am assuming that after years of being called 'She" it is what Kiache became used to." Even when they weren't technically talking, it still wore Quinn out to conversate this much. She didn't like being social.

Ripley nodded, and finally figured out that they were probably being annoying. "Ah, sorry, I have intruded on your private time for much to long. I'll leave no, thank you for helping me. See you around," Ripley flashes their sharp teeth in an awkward smile before darting away, their scales flashing from one place to another. These new Mer were so odd, so different. Ripley didn't mind it though, they supposed it was a nice experience. Though the male, Jack, he was so cold. Not mean or anything, but generally cold. Like they got cold when around him. It scared Ripley a little to be honest. Ripley didn't know how this was all going to work out, but for now they would remain with routine and visit Kiache.
