Rom's brown eyes followed Storm as he went around him, giving him a cold glare. As Sky moved to pass him, he muttered to her. "I'd watch the company you keep..." He tossed his head and snorted, galloping past the two and taking to the skies once again. He climbed as high as his lungs would allow as fast as he could go, again to blow off steam. He wasn't allowed to fight other stallions as a guard without cause, so he had to keep his emotions in check. He levelled out, and exhaled, trying to calm himself.

Shadow watched the interaction, eyes narrowed slightly. Night had already gone ahead, keeping up easily with Luna from the skies. Flicking his ears, he trotted forward before lifting his wings up. Flapping down, he powered himself up, gliding like Raven had been. He was close to the herd but way above them, just enough to see them. Tilting his wings slightly, he came up beside Rom, keeping pace with him easily.

He stayed there in silence, allowing the guard to calm down before saying, "The breeze feels good up here, does it not?" He wouldn't ask what had just happened, it wasn't his personality. He was just being the quiet self he had always been, diverting problems even if they didn't know it.

Raven swooped above the herd's head, relishing in the wind. He loved flying and he loved the herd. Sure, they could get annoying and chaotic sometimes, but there were more pros than cons. Gliding above their heads, far enough above to not spook them, he listened to the conversations below.

Novak narrowed his eyes and lifted off into the air. He shook out his mane and sighed in relaxation, the feeling of wind blowing through his mane cooling him down. He looked down at the herd that was now small beneath him. He flicked an ear and tilted his head towards the trees, seeing something moving. He decided to swoop down and check it out. He landed with a neigh.

Lickit spun around, eyes wide. Novak pressed against her from behind and she reared, her hooves hitting his chest.
"JESUS. You scared me Novak!" She brayed angrily, her head swerving away as Novak grabbed her mane. She neighed and bucked, but he continued to drag her back to the herd.

Primrose was just trotting along with everyone else. Sometimes, she bent down her head to grab some grass and gnaw on something. Her tail flicked back and forth and she decided to look around at what everyone else was doing. She saw someone flying above her so she looked up, noticing that it was Rom. She reared in greeting, her hooves shining in the moonlight as she then shook out her mane, eyes half closed.


Ahadi followed the herd. His eyes examined the ground before he heard a whisper. He looked back and saw Primrose behind him. She was talking to herself so he decided that he would just continue on with his night. He trotted in place, impatient. He rolled his eyes before starting to gallop around, then he took off into the sky.

Romulous acknowladged Shadow as he flew beside him with a nod of his head. "It is..." he repied thoughtfully, casting his brown eyes to the siloutte of the stallion as his side. He relaxed his ears, grateful for the companionship. It really was peaceful up here, coasting on the high breezes; the world seemed so much smaller. He decided to voice the thought.

"It all seems so small from up here, like most of the things that may be troublesome seem so miniscule." He turned his head to make eye contact with Shadow, his face gentle and neutral.

Shadow listened to Romulous, enjoying the breeze in his feathers. He nodded slightly as Rom said, "It all seems so small from up here, like most of the things that may be troublesome seem so miniscule." It was very true and Shadow liked it. Shadow kept the eye contact with the guard in a respectful way before saying, "Up here, all the troubles seem to go away. And you are left with the peace in the air." This was one of his favorite sayings, not that he had anyone to talk to with it. Then again, he was too quiet to actually try and start a conversation on the ground.

Rom smiled at the stallion, a genuine smile. "That is unforntuatley a luxury I cannot afford as a guard. I'm responsible for everyone's saftey, for the balance and harmony within the herd. If something does happen to wrong, it's on me correct it." He furrowed his brow, facing forward once again, closing his eyes and inhaling deeply. He gestured with a motion of his head towards the herd below. "Being a guard means that you must keep constant and consistant vigilance, to be the eye in the sky or the weapon on foot." He glanced back over at Shadow. There was a dull fire in his eyes, the fire of a soldier, a leader, a protector. It was both gentle and fierce, the way a father looks at his son.

Luna listened to the herd around her, hearing where they all were as her ears flicked. The white mare turned to see the moon at it's peak, a small fog rolling in thick around their hooves, causing all the lighter coated herd members to look almost ghost like. She gave a small sigh as she remembered first appearing in a fog to others, scaring them accidentally. It was one of the downfalls to being pure white, but then again, when she was alone, she was able to fly under the moonlight with no issues, flying up high enough to not be spotted by humans. How she missed the days of being carefree, but she wouldnt trade it in when she had her herd behind her. *Maybe it is time for me to start looking for a mate. I cant stay the lead mare forever without a mate* she thought. While she had for this long, she got somewhat lonely leading without one.

Shadow blinked at the guard, understanding his words to a point. He understood the guard job, but he did not understand the look in his eyes. "Yes, the job of the guard is hard but comes with your benefits. Like the knowledge that the herd is safe under your watch and that you have others watching your back." Shadow said, flapping slightly to keep his glide under control. His eyes had flashed for a brief moment of sadness but was quickly replaced with his normal calm state.

Romulous nodded, agreeing with him. "To an extent, yes." He replied. "But I'm always wondering; what can see us that I cannot?"

Shadow flicked his ears, "Always a good question to keep in mind." He said before turning his head slightly as a slightly stronger breeze came through. Shadow blinked before asking, "Do you believe that we will ever be. . .home? Somewhere where we are never moving around." His whole life had been on the move, living with the herd reminded him of his life as a regular horse. Moving around every couple of days, there was never a permanent home.
