Garvin would probably end up saying something he doesn't actually mean, like- "Yeah, I know exactly who 'm talkin' to! The same fucker who thinks hair dye is a fuckin' need! 'M fuckin' serious 'ere! Don' even look at it!" And then proceed to check their bags whenever they get back to make sure that they stuck to what he thinks counts as a need. - Garvin and Ingall would end up in so many arguments, like- "I don' fuckin' care! Risk it! I've almost died plenty! What's a few more times! I ain't 'bout to 'ave all o' ya die 'cause ya don' wanna fix a fuckin' schedule!" - Garvin lowkey would be such a prick during it. He's over here panicking thinking he needs to get their spending as close to zero as possible without really thinking about how it'd be affecting anyone else. He's more concerned with the idea that if he doesn't then it won't even be able to affect anyone else. - It'd probably get to the point of even Akira getting worried once Garvin starts being like- "Hm? Oh, yeah, no. Jus' headin' to a bar. 'Bout to steal some shit from people." and "No worries, I know some people I can prob'bly go to to make some money. I'll hit up Sparky, 'm sure he'll have somethin' I can do." and just stuff along those lines.

Oof, yeah, Akira would be so ready to throw hands at that comment- Though they'd probably restain themself just because they fully understand where he's coming from... and would also totally start utilizing nicknames at this point too, lmao "Well, I'll fuckin' steal the stuff that you assume isn't necessary then. No money waisted. I got it, not lettin' us end up on the streets again, Vinny." - Ohhhh boyyy Yeah. I wouldn't consider that an argument. That would be Ingall having a full blown panic attack breakdown. Like, my guy would be suffering He genuinely spent so much time saving up money and keeping backup supplies stocked so that something like this wouldn't happen... Again- Let's just say... Um, well... The last time he "broke ritual" it was in order to find someplace else for him and Maya to stay that way actually affordable (the money he'd taken from Amar was running low and May had practically nothing) and so they could get farther away from Amar and some other less-than-nice people and, well That didn't end well. He has a cloth ribbon as proof of that So, yeahhh Not a good situation. - Oh, for sure. Akira would be panicking too, but their first priority is always to make sure everyone else is protected, and, though Garvin's actions are perfectly understandable in their eyes, it's pretty obvious that not everyone is feeling safe and protective right now. So Kira's focus is shifting from "how do we get more money and still have adequate supplies" to "how do we prove to Garvin that we're not going to lose everything again which, in turn, calms everyone else down" And that would undoubtedly lead to "Revan, let me see the fuckin' funds. I need a number of how much we have. A solid fuckin' number that I can see."

Garvin wouldn't even blink at the nicknames at that point, he's just way to focused on making sure no money that doesn't need (in his opinion) to be spent isn't. He'd just be like- "Yeah, sure, do that 'quila. Better not be anythin' that takes anythin' to fuckin' use though. An' steal some o' the shit we do need while ya at it." - Oof, yeahhh, Garvin would not be a big help there at all. Very likely that he'd end up making it worse because he would not compromise. Literally the only thing on his mind is cutting spending as close to zero as possible and selling as much as he can to justify whatever is above zero. - Meanwhile you have Revan watching all of this in the background trying to figure out how to fix what he accidentally caused because so far each attempt has been met with Garvin not even letting him finish what he was saying because he thought he was worried about the money being spent. Garvin has such an intense poverty mindset. Which. Fair. But definitely not good for anyone. Literally anyone that tries to say that he needs to calm down get trauma dumped on in him trying to make a point and also get demoted down to last name status so fucking quickly. And it's not said nicely or anything, he'll say their last names like they're poison. Literally the only way to get him out would end up being Revan admitting that he'd been trying to make a joke and had 100% expected it to go up by the two dollars it went up by. At which point you'd get Garvin fucking manic laughing. Like- Full on, collapse to the ground, coughing fit inducing laughter. Because it's either manic laughter or panic attack crying because suddenly everything he'd been doing wasn't actually justified and damn they must hate him for everything and he should probably just go ahead and leave. So... Small mental breakdown, basically. And Garvin much prefers manic laughter to panic attack crying because it might actually do something unlike panicking or crying which always do absolutely nothing. -- Also. Garvin's part is almost done. I don't wanna have to think about shoe sizes though lmao ;-; Edited at April 10, 2024 10:35 AM by Overthink101

Akira just nodding along and grabbing Nico so they can leave and go get shit before Nico starts trying to get Garvin to talk about his emotions again XD - Yeahhh, well, the worst part is Nico and Akira probably wouldn't actually be helpful here either because- Nico would be too focused on trying to help Garvin because he assumes that if they take care of Garvin, everything else will be fixed And Akira would be fighting themself over whether or not it's actually a good idea to scold Garvin in this state and, therefore, would be too busy also also kind of assuming that fixing the Garvin situation will fix everything else I mean, they aren't necessarily wrong, but that also means Ingall's gonna have to sit in the corner too panicked to even move the second that his schedule is first thrown off either until Revan decides to try to help or... until the Garvin situation is fixed which would probably take a while- - Oof Fair, but also definitely bad. Ingall just quietly walking over to hug Garvin because, well, his rituals were already fucked up and, obviously, Garvin was just trying to help, so he may as well give him a hug to let him know he's forgiven before he finally goes to take a five-hour shower in order to feel functional again, lmao - Oh, yeah, don't worry about it, I'm literally just gonna say "after everyone gave their shoe sizes" or something in my next post, so you can just say Garvin mentioned his or something XD

Yeah, Nico trying to talk to Garvin about emotions at that point wouldn't work very well at all. He's not paying attention to emotions. Period. He's just thinking about money, haha- - Oooh boy. Yeah. Fixing the Garvin situation there is definitely a top priority for the majority of them. This dude has almost starved death way too many times to not be going off the rails. The fact that it was Revan that complained definitely doesn't help. Like- How bad does it have to be that the rich guy, who has lived comfortably (financially) his whole life, to be worried?? Garvin is immediately assuming the worst. Which, I mean, probably doesn't make too much sense to Revan himself since he would've thought the first assumption is 'Oh, going from rich to middle class, haha, funny, imagine complaining about that' and that isn't even what's happening. The dude is not going from rich to middle class. They're literally just fine. But that would've been the extent Revan expected it to be taken. Instead, you have Garvin who takes in the opposite direction of 'Oh shit, the guy that's supposed to be financially stable is suddenly not' and then it gets amplified into a huge problem. Literally if it happened while they were eating, Garvin would stop eating and immediately start packing food up to save it for the next day. He immediately starts the spiral. Immediately starts looking for stuff he can sell. Immediately starts trying to figure out what can be cut down on. Immediately starts turning off lights and opening windows instead. Meanwhile the rest of the table is just watching in varying levels of confusion and concern (and probably understanding from Akira) since he's doing all this in like, complete fucking silence. - Garvin would be so confused. And probably laugh even harder. He'd probably still be a bit avoidant on spending for a bit after, and definitely lost a lot of progress the group made on getting him to buy things he wants. But he'd also be super apologetic and trying to figure out how to make it up to them all. Especially for anything he said (i.e. the comments about hair dye and Ingall's schedule) -- Might just leave it at that last sentence. I feel like that might work as a smooth transition better... Hm

Yeahhh, Nico would be so adamant though, by guy thinks talking about emotions will fix everything. Meanwhile Akira's just trying to keep everything from falling apart more XD Nico: "So, Garvy, about-" Akira, grabbing Nico and dragging her to the door: "Nope. Nuh-uh. C'mon, Nico, we're leavin'. Let's go. We ain't doin' this right now." - Yeah, Aki would so understand and be on board with his plans to an extent. Like, the only buying stuff they need? Sure, that's great. Makes sense. But, remember, Garvin, emotional needs are a thing too! Not touching the thermostat? Sure, they can work with that. Selling stuff? Eh, depends on what, selling a few things is fine, as long as it doesn't affect anyone negatively. Forcing Ingall to change schedules though? No. That's not okay at all... as emphasized by their boyfriend physically paralyzed with fear and hyperventilating in the corner, lmao Nico would be so confused though. Like, they never lived super comfortably, his family has always been in poverty. Now, has she actually lived on the streets? No, but Nico's also the kind of person to be like "Well, what we do have is the important thing! We have each other, and we still have a house! We'll be okay, whatever happens, we can figure it out!" - Well, Nico would be very adamant about everything being fine, Garvin already apologized, so let's not worry about it anymore. Akira would be similar, and, again, very understanding with the whole situation. Ingall would be understanding and forgiving and all, but his attitude would probably be different for a while. I mean, he'd probably be a little quieter than usual for a while, but the main thing is that his actual schedule would have shifted. Weird considering his whole breakdown was about his schedule being messed up, but it's something that he does anytime something this drastic happens. It's basically a full psychological reset. You know, compensation for the break. Usually, this includes new compulsions forming, things that helped when he couldn't do what was helpful before the situation changed. Fun, definitely wouldn't cause any problems :) - Sure, that could work! Edited at April 10, 2024 02:06 PM by Lost Memories

Garvin just completely ignoring emotions as soon as the poverty mindset kicks in. So he'd definitely be completely confused if Nico started talking to him about that stuff. - Literally just about nothing is safe from Garvin during poverty mindset. His life was basically spent on the streets, and the few times he'd been off the streets weren't exactly good experiences that showed him what it was actually like to be off the streets. So. Yeah. He'd sell anything if he thought he needed to. Any gifts he'd been given would be first on the list. He doesn't need the gifts, so they've got to go. Especially if they cost money to have and/or use. Like a phone or a sewing machine. Those things would be first on the list to sell. Like literally that night, he'd be walking off in complete silence to go grab and then pawn off the sewing machine with plans to get rid of the fabric for it as soon as possible too. Literally the only thing Garvin even counts as a need is food and water. And even then, he's trying to spend as little as possible. He doesn't care if the food is expired, it is not being thrown away and they are not getting more food until everything is gone. Nothing is getting wasted. He does not care. He is not spending any money that isn't like, absolutely no way around it necessary to spend. The sensory subtotal would basically plummet all the way to 0 with how much he'd be masking it. He doesn't care as long as it's free. All money spent has to be justified ten times over. For every dollar spent, he's better got double it from pawning stuff off or he will be taking even more extreme measures. He gets so incredibly paranoid when it comes to money. - Oof, yeah, Garvin would basically walking on eggshells around Ingall for a while. Not exactly avoiding him but definitely also not wanting to add more stress or anything. He'd probably be having to remind himself that Revan had been trying to make a joke quite a bit. Definitely wouldn't be uncommon to see him still slipping into things like only eating one plate for the entire day or using daylight more than actual lights or having to stop himself from knocking whenever someone takes a 'long' shower or having to stop himself from telling people to put stuff back that he thinks they don't need or taking inventory of stuff he can sell or him avoiding things he likes because he cannot justify spending the money on it or pointing out cheaper options or just seeming more uncomfortable than happy/excited whenever anyone gives him things.

Sorry for the late response, I'm currently out of state for a choir trip, lmao The post was absolutely amazing! And I love that Simon loves cats to, adorable, lol - Oof, yeah, the gift thing definitely wouldn't cause any problems XD - Aw, poor guy. Yeah, Ingall would be doing his best to try to prove that he was fine and he forgave Garvin already while also actively struggling with new coping mechanisms, some in his head, others outward. My guy has some shitty compulsions- And he's actually not at rock bottom right now, so a situation like that with Garvin might actually bring back some old ones that he managed to work through.... Fun!
