Aesira

Meaning "brave, powerful fighter"

She was previously Hester, which has Greek origins and means "Star", she then renamed herself when she became a yearling to her current name and thought the meaning fit.

red-roan-overo-paint-horse-1-by-venomxbaby-d6drr4m-fullview.jpg

Age: Six years, almost seven

Gender: Mare / Female

Herd: Aesira was a part of the Crowstone herd

Rank: She was a foal in this herd before she went missing

One of the Missing?: Yes

Appearance:

stock (c) to https://www.deviantart.com/venomxbaby on DA

red-roan-overo-paint-horse-2-by-venomxbaby-d7ytvx8-fullview.jpg

This gorgeous mare's coat is a red roan overo paint. The majority of her is the red roan, and most of her white patches are from her flank and back. Though there is one large one that gives her a white face. The only other noticeable markings she has are the grey patch around her muzzle, her white sock on her back right leg, her white ankle on her right hoof, and the sock on her front left hoof. Aesira has a long reddish-brown mane, and her tail is a similar color though turns to a darker brown, almost black at the end of it. Her tail reaches almost all the way to the ground.

This mare's eyes are a dark brown, almost black, and even in the light, they stay that color. Her build is built for neither speed, nor strength, and she is equally as fast as she is strong, though that doesn't compare to the stallions. Aesira is a slightly taller mare, standing at 14.5 hh tall.

Personality:

Aesira had to grow up quickly, she was only 6 months old when she disappeared, during the first lightning strikes she had noticed one of the leads running off, and decided to follow, foolishly leaving her mother's side. She ran as far and as fast as her little legs could carry her before crashing from exhaustion. It was a miracle she made it through the night without being attacked by a predator, but so was the fact that she would return years later. Eventually, the little foal would wake up and realize how hopelessly lost she was and would spend the next hour or so wandering before coming across some of the other horses that had gone missing. If she hadn't found them or had spent any more amount of time looking for them in the opposite directions she would have died. Her survival was pure luck, and she realized that in the years to come.

This foal grew into a powerful mare, a force to be reckoned with, and was already quite mature in her earlier years, having grown up with no mother and only some other missing horses who had little influence in her life and were there to keep her safe. Aesira had already developed her own personality and opinions. The older she got, the angrier she grew at her mother, who was the lead and had never gone looking for them? At the time she didn't know her mother had continued her search but had stopped two years before she would return, making it seem as if she didn't even try to get her daughter back, and for that, there is strong resentment she holds against the lead mare. When she was a scared little filly is seemed no one had been there for her, and it had left her a shaken and frightful young horse, almost completely ruining a large part of her childhood. Eventually, she grew out of it and into the mare she is today, but it was rough going in order to get there.

Now she wants to return and claim her mother's spot as lead, Aesira believes she doesn't deserve it and could do a better job. Of course, there's the whole "herd chooses the leads" thing she has to deal with, but hopefully, with some convincing and earning their trust, the herd would change their minds. With a glance at this mare or a conversation with her, it would almost seem as if she is content with her position, but deep down she knows what she wants. Now it may seem like this mare holds grudges, she doesn't, and is more of a forgiven creature, she just holds this one against her mother for not doing more to find her. Aesira carries an "air of leadership" with her, she always tried to do her best to look out for the other missing as she grew up, and often suggested ideas to the group's leader, regardless if they decided to use them or not, and never pushed for power. She holds her head high and proud, nothing with knock her pride down.

While this mare doesn't lose her temper very often, or easily, in order to express her anger, this mare would rather use words than physical contact. This is because she can express her feelings and thoughts well, and won't have to physically show them for someone to understand. No matter how angry she is, Aesira would never physically lash out at her friends or family, yes she may argue but she could never hurt them. Now it's a different story if they make the first move and she feels the need to defend herself.

You may think this mare is a bit harsh and even mean to be around, but she is quite the opposite with the missing. She feels as if she is more understood with them, having grown up together. In fact, she cares more about them than she does for the current herd. Of course, sure she is happy to be home, but her loyalties still lay with the missing and if one is in need Aesira will do her part to help them. This mare is also quite social and would mind taking some time out of her day to have a friendly discussion with her friends. With the herd though, she is still dissent, having been gone for so long she doesn't feel as if she belongs anymore. Aesira does also have a soft spot for the missing young offspring as well and will be especially friendly around them.

At the mention of foals, with her own this mare would/will be protective and supportive. She doesn't want what happened to her to happen to her offspring and would make sure to stay with her young and keep a sharp eye on them during a crisis or hard time. If they were to go missing she would never forgive herself, and would even consider leaving the herd to find them if no one would go with her. Aesira would be a loving mother, checking up on her foals and allowing them the chance to make friends and make experiences without "suffocating" them.

Affiliations: Open to a bestie :D and other relationships with the missing

Crush: Open, must be one of the missing

Mate: Open, must be one of the missing

Offspring(s): To be determined

Other: Aesira is the lead mare's missing foal, now returned as a fully grown mare. Her mother is Spell's lead, and her father is deceased.

Agar

[ Ay-gar ] meaning, "A stranger, one that fears"

black-white-tovero-2-by-venomxbaby-d52iisn-fullview.jpg

Age: Five years

Gender: Mare / Female

Herd: None

Rank: Survivor

Desired Rank: Herd mare

Appearance:

stock (c) to https://www.deviantart.com/venomxbaby on DA

black-white-tovero-1-by-venomxbaby-d4wm7nd-fullview.jpg

This mare is a creature of shorter stature, standing right at 13.5 hh. Her legs are powerful, she is built for speed over strength and once she gets going, she can keep it up for a considerable time before needing to stop. Agar's coat is short and sleek, feeling soft to the touch. The color is a gorgeous black and white tovero paint, a combo of tobiano and overo. The majority of her coat is white, and her black spots mostly cluster around her chest, face, stomach, and around her hips on both sides.

This mare's eyes appear black, though once the light hits them they turn to a darker brown, and grow lighter as it nears the pupil. It also carries small amber flecks and is framed by long black lashes. She has two black markings around both of her eyes.

Agar's mane is quite long, and starts out as a white color and turns more yellow-ish at the end. At the very top, there are some black strands, as well as a few light brown. Her tail is similar though it lacks the brown and black strands and comes down a little bit past her hock. Agar has no large scars from her time at the barn and no other markings worth mentioning.

Any Injuries: She has a deep scratch along her left flank, she was caught in something as she was fleeing and thrashed around in it to get free. It's not fatal but it will hurt and take a while to heal. Agar has a few minor scratches from the storm as well, but none big enough to mention.

Personality:

This mare enjoyed a leisurely life before the tornado, her days were spent with her head bent to the ground grazing over the lush grass and not a care in the world. In fact, she did it so much Agar was once confused for an escaped prized cattle, she was a shorter horse and had nearly the same coloring as it, and a ranch hand mistook her for it. It didn't take long to sort out the issue and there had just been a miss count of the cattle, but it was enough to knock some of the mares pride down. Not that she had much to start with, she already felt as if she had let her parents down with her large fears of the stable hands. Ever since she was a foal, she had been a bit fearful of people, and that carried on into the years that she became a mare. She literally lived up to her name "one that fears", and refers to her unease around humans as healthy fear, it's really not.

Agar was obviously not raised a wild mustang, nor does she have mustang blood, so once she is on her own she had no idea what to expect. She only hopes she comes across some other horses and heard rumors about a herd of them living around here. This mare knows nothing on defense, so if she were attacked by a predator she would most likely die.

This mare was actually quite social with the other horses, her fear only stretched to the humans, so she would want a chance to join the herd and get to know the other survivors better. Agar was being sold anyways, and was skittish around her humans so why go back? The only thing that is holding her back is her love obsession with pumpkin treats, which she will have to learn to live without, but that's only a major minor problem.

Agar can be quite defensive, she doesn't particularly like it when others judge her by her height, she can take care of herself....for the most part, and how tall she is shouldn't determine that. She'll learn how to do a well-placed kick, eventually. This mare will have a lot of adjusting to do in order to live with the mustangs, but she is willing to give it a try, even if they have a weird diet and the water sometimes tastes like mud.

Backstory: This mare's dam had been considered genetically superior and when she had Agar. But her friendly personality didn't carry over to her daughter. Agar was a fearful horse from the start, she was always a bit of a skittish mare around the stable hands and just wary of people in general. These traits weren't desirable and she was actually just about to be sold to a smaller ranch, less well known than Ard na Gréine, but then the tornado hit and she had to flee.

Affiliations: Will fill in once there are more survivors

Crush: Open

Mate: None

Offspring: One adult mare that was sold a few years ago.

Other: :)

Maeve

[may-veh] Old Irish origin, meaning "the intoxicating one” or “she who rules.”

Age: 2 years

Gender: Female / Mare

Role: Herd

Rank: Yearling

Appearance:

silver-grulla-mare-1-by-venomxbaby-d4wvfvi-fullview.jpg

This mare stands at about 15.5 hh tall, her weight is average. Her coat is a gorgeous silver Grulla, though a bit lighter in coloration and grows darker on her legs. Maeve's coat is short and sleek looking, feeling a bit soft to the touch. Her figure is leaner and less muscular, though as she grows that will change.

Her mane is not as long as some, though still holds a decent length. At the roots, it is almost a silver color, but that quickly fades into more of a yellowish-white. Her tail is opposite, starting with a white but slowly adding to a dark brown and at full length, it just reaches past her hock. This mare doesn't have any out-of-the-ordinary markings, other than maybe a darker grey face, with a slightly darker and wider grey blaze that runs down to her muzzle. She doesn't have many scars, Maeve hasn't lived long enough to have some of the encounters that may cause such markings.

These mare's eyes are framed by long dark lashes, that are quite visible. Around her eyes there seemed to be a darker grey outline around her darker brown orbs, which even appear to be black in some places. Her walk is smooth and graceful and she holds her head up in a way that helps show it.

foal-stock-100-by-bundy-stock-d3kncdo-pre.jpg

Personality:

Keanu still has a big imagination, he often pretends the herd is his when no one else will play with him, and rename it to be *The Dusty Herd* after the lack of water recently. Of course, he is the lead stallion, and any other foals are willing to join in and fill the other ranks because it's no fun if you're playing by yourself. This foal's attention span is a decent length, so he might get a little exasperated if another foal quits on him from boredom when he still wants to play. But he'll forget about it in a few minutes and suggest something else to do instead. He hates being left out, so if someone leaves his game Keanu will want to go with them.

Despite the circumstances, he does his best to keep his spirits up and tries not to worry his mom, he somewhat understands the situation but doesn't understand how bad it is, and doesn't wish to make it worse. He is quite observant that way, though that doesn't mean he won't accidentally get into trouble on the occasion. After all, he is still a foal, no matter how hard he wishes he were three. If he was, he could run away and live the bachelor life until he was ready to come back and take over the herd! With him being that observant, it also leads to him being able to pick up on some other emotions that the herd gives off a bit quicker than the other foals.

On the subject of relationships, Keanu is a little flirt. Eyeing up the younger mares and sometimes rattling off little compliments in their direction. I mean, if he's going to be a Lead stallion, shouldn't he get to know them and make sure they like him? He also tends to ask a lot of questions, nothing too prying or anything like that, often just surface-level conversations.

When he gets a chance to talk to them, he does his best to sound grown-up and likes to share his goals for the future herd. He often puffs his chest, holds his head high, and does his best to keep that annoying squeak out of his speech while also holding his serious face. His "serious" face:

d41i70k-9ee175d9-4403-43c0-ab58-b1c024471021.png

As are most colts, Keanu is rambunctious, leaping and running around his mother, still quite full of energy until the heat hits harder, he tends to quiet up then. He's also a bit of a goofball and loves hearing jokes. He absolutely loves rolling around in the grass and cant wait until the fluffy green stuff grows back in. It was one of his favorite things to do, and will still occasionally do it, though it's not the same on the dry ground.

Keanu

Rank: Foal Lead stallion *Of the Dusty herd*

Desired Rank: Lead Stallion

Appearance:

all stock (c) to Bundy-Stock on DA

d3eobxn-570b3fe2-2e55-469e-8ff9-4943bf36adb9.png

This little colt has a fluffy little bay coat, which is a little spiky looking, with patches from his attempts at grooming himself, and from the rolling around on the ground. The color darkens on his upper body from his shoulders and through his neck and to his face. This darker color circles his big brown eyes, which are framed by long black lashes. This same color also coats his muzzle, though he has a lighter, white-ish patch on the left side of it. Keanu's mane is a short, floofy thing, the black whisps stick straight up on his neck and when you look at him straight on it is even more visible. His tail is similar, it's a short stubby one that has a bit of wave to it, it is also colored black.

Keanu has a few other noticeable marks, for one, the small white star on the upper left side of his head. Another being his white stocking above his back left hoof, and the white sock above his back right hoof. On his front legs, Keanu has similar markings that are more faded, he has a partial white fetlock on his left and a more grey-ish stocking on his right.

This foal has a sturdy build, though his strong little foal muscles will weaken as the drought goes on. With the lack of nutrients, he is taking in, he won't be able to exercise those long legs of his as much, and the heat was weakening already. As of now, you cannot see his ribs.

foal-stock-52-by-bundy-stock-d3eoeh3-pre.jpg

Despite the circumstances, he does his best to keep his spirits up and tries not to worry his mom, he doesn't understand the situation at all, and only remembers the lack of water and plants since he was born. Keanu does know that he should be on his best behavior though, he is quite observant that way. Though that doesn't mean he won't accidentally get into trouble on the occasion. After all, he is still a young foal, no matter how hard he wishes he was older. If he was, he could run away and live the bachelor life until he was ready to come back. Then while he was away, he could find more water and upon his arrival, the herd would make him the lead stallion!

On the subject of relationships, Keanu is a little flirt. Or rather, he tries. Despite his younger age, he has sparked an interest in the mares already and likes to stand by them and try to get their attention sometimes.

He often puffs his chest, holds his head high, and does his best to keep that little squeak out of his voice while also holding his serious face. His "serious" face:

As are most colts, Keanu is rambunctious, leaping and running around his mother, still quite full of energy until the heat hits harder, he tends to quiet up then. Becoming more tired and sore and thirsty, he may start to try and lean onto another horse just for the comfort of knowing he has another walking buddy. When he becomes exhausted like this he does talk less.

He can also be a bit of a goofball and loves hearing jokes. He absolutely loves rolling around in the grass and cant wait until the fluffy green stuff grows back in again. -Since he was born during part of the drought, he did still have some grass to roll in, though not much because of how long the drought had been going for.- It was one of his favorite things to do, and will still occasionally do it, though it's not the same on the dry ground.

This foal has an adventurous spirit and does love the idea of leaving his old home, which he never really lived in long enough to call home, behind. The idea of seeing new places at such a young age excites him and sparks lots of curiosity in the young colt.

Crush: Hmm.

Mate: Bleh

Sena

Greek Origin, meaning 'the moon'

Age: 1.5 years

Gender: Female / Mare

Herd: Valley herd

Rank: Yearling

Desired Rank: Unsure

Appearance:

stock (c) to https://www.deviantart.com/venomxbaby on DA

bay-horse-walking-1-by-venomxbaby-d6c3cly-fullview.jpg

This mare took fully after her mother as far as coloration. Her coat is short and sleek, being a slightly darker bay. She has a few black markings, including those around her muzzle, a patch of black right over the back of her hock, and a black sock on her front right hoof. Sena does have one white marking, it's a white sock on her back left leg. This yearlings mane is mostly black, though the tips of it turn brown. It could be considered a long mane and is quite thick. Her tail is quite similar but also has brown at the base of it and reaches almost to the ground.

Sena has her father's eyes, they are dark brown, almost black and when the light hits them they turn to an amber color, with lighter gold flecks around the pupil. Her large eyes are framed by long black lashes. This yearling shares another thing with her father, her build, being on the lean side versus more of a stocky build like her mother. Her long strong legs are built more for speed, and hold her to a height of almost 15 hh, making her just shorter than her father.

Personality:

While Sena had never met her father, she takes after him in some aspects of her personality. To start off, her independence. While she is a part of the herd, this yearling does tend to stay away from the larger groups, the chattering is a bit much for her, and Sena does dislike those mile-a-minute talkers. On the occasion, it's nice to have someone to talk to, and she is slowly starting to come out of her shell, but not too quickly. A part of her still fears some sort of rejection by the herd, with her father being a bachelor and having no loyalties to the herd, and then her mother died, right at the beginning of the drought. Because of her death would Sena be considered weak? And would that make her a liability to the herd and get her kicked out? It's not like she had any family in the herd, and she never made many close friendships. With those questions hanging over her head and constantly at the back of her mind, she can never really get past that mental barrier and try to deeper her connections with the other horses.

Speaking of the herd, Sena only ended up here when her mother had a falling out with her father. It was while she was pregnant and her stubborn mother left to join the herd, Sena was never told the reason why, she just knew that she was born and grew up inside the herd. A part of her mother always seemed distant, the older mare was always watching for bachelors and wandering from her when she was a foal. When her mother was more present she talked of her father, almost as if she regretted leaving, but never spoke of his name. A part of her wants to figure out who he is.

Her mother had been one of the first few horses to die, and since her death, Sena has started to isolate herself a little more, her mother was generally friendly and she would tag along sometimes when she would talk with the other horses. It was difficult for the young mare to have her mother pass away, and since she no longer had family in the herd to look after her, she might allow someone to check up on her so she is not left to her own devices. It's nice to be wanted sometimes.

With her independence comes heightened senses, while she never leaves the herd, she may wander close to the edges, and with the increase in predators, she has to be alert. She keeps a constant eye on the land around her but if something were to happen Sena would most likely watch out for herself. As selfish as that sounds that's what she had been doing since her mother died a month prior. Though if it ever came down to a foal in trouble, that's the only time when she would intervene, who would want to see such a young life cut short?

Her conversations are most often short and to the point, if Sena is trying to discuss something with another horse, why find an excuse to delay the news? When trying to convince this young mare of something, she is often more on the stubborn side, though can be swayed by those she trusts, and that count has been declining since the drought hit.

This mare coat is classic champagne, which is a color that mustangs can have, it’s just quite uncommon. Part of that coat's gene includes freckled skin, which is harder to see through her coat but is more visible along her back legs and sides. For the most part, her coat color is even, until it reaches her neck, from where it starts to darken up to her face. Colette does have one larger marking on her pelt, though most of the time it is hidden under her mane. It’s a white spot that is longer than it is wide and is on the right side of her neck. Her other markings include two white high socks on her back legs, two white socks on her front legs, and one irregular star. It’s white and sits higher up on her forehead near the base of her mane, in between her ears, and goes down on an angle towards her right eye though it stops a few inches before it.

This mare’s eyes are hazel colored, with little amber flecks towards the center, and dark lashes framing her bright orbs. She has no other markings around her eyes. Colette’s mane was quite interesting, with a small top piece being a creamy white and then a large middle chunk starting dark brown at the roots and then fading to white. The last of her mane is also that creamy white, overall her mane is thick and could be considered long. Her tail is similar, with a white base and then towards the middle, it turns brown and then fades to white.

Colette stands at about 14 hh and weighs around 800 pounds, which varies of course by her seasonal food intake. As for her build, she is neither lean nor bulky, and lands in between the two. She can run at a decent pace and keep it up, and as for her fighting she is still not as strong as a stallion, but with some motivation, Colette can hold her own for a short period of time.

Any Injuries: This mare has an assortment of nicks and scratches from the flying debree, but managed not to twist or break anything.

Personality:

Colette is a motherly mare, raising her foals to be the best that they could possibly be, with all the support she can give them. Each one she has she grows quite protective of but does have the sense not to be a constant helicopter parent. She wants to allow them some space to let them explore, learn about the herd, their surroundings, and their current situation, so they can develop their own personalities and opinions. Though still under some supervision to keep them safe.

If her young are ever in the wrong she expects them to own up to it and learn from their mistakes. Though if they aren't, or someone says something she doesn't particularly like about one of her foals, you can expect Colette to find you and give you a chance to explain yourself. This mare has a very little temper, and she barely ever uses physical contact as a means to get her point across, but she is not afraid to use it. This mare is also rarely stubborn, she is open to any horse's perspective, but when it comes to the safety of her offspring, this mare will have her way. Colette has never, and will never leave her foal behind, if it meant leaving the herd to keep it safe she would, and if it meant laying her life down to save it she would.

This mare is a social creature, as long as she has someone with her, she is content. It worries her to be away from the herd, being a lone mare was never something she wanted, and it scares her to be alone for so long. Colette doesn't have the strength of a stallion to fight off predators, though has the intelligence to keep away from some spots where they may lurk, which may save her a few times but not enough to keep her alive if she never finds the herd. She still relies on the herd stallions for protection and now that she is separated(unless one decided to go with her) Colette wouldn't know where to start if she had to defend herself.

This mare hates to beat around the bush, if there is something that is important then why find an excuse to delay the news? The only time she may try to soften the blow is with a very fragile topic, or trying to explain a tragedy to a foal. Colette values trust, if you give her yours she will return it if she truly believes she can trust you. It's not something she will hand out freely, but it is a little easier to gain with this mare.

Crush: Open

Mate: Open

Offspring: Open to adult children, and foal

Other: Maybe I could handle seven characters, one of them could be a distressed mare that's afraid of leaving the barn because she would have to leave her pumpkin slices behind, (which are obviously the most wonderful tasting seasonal treat a mare could have).

This young mare is getting close to reaching her full height and currently stands around 12.5 hh, with her full height being achieved once she reaches 4 years and will stop growing at 14 hh. Her coat is similar to her father's, though lighter in color. She is a dapple grey, just like him, and inherited a pinkish patch on her muzzle, and her mother had a similar one. Her one marking is a white stripe on her face, Asami has no others. This yearling doesn't have any scars either, she hasn't been alive long enough to accumulate them, yes she had her few nicks and scratches here and there, but none ever turned into scars.

Asami's eyes are dark brown, and in the light, they turn to almost an amber color, with some gold flecks towards her pupil. Dark lashes frame her orbs and she has no scars/scrapes/markings around them. Her mane and tail are the same color, white, though the tips turn to more of a yellowish hue. Her build is more for speed than strength, though as she gets older it will start to even out.

Any Injuries: Her limbs are sore and it hurts to move, she has a few minor scratches but other than that she is fine.

somewhat independent, since she is the only yearling or bed there are very little yearlings to speak with,

though does like the company of others
