Steven's fur stood up in fury, "He barely knows how to hunt and the Alpha made him Beta!? That's rediculous" Steven growled, dropping his pace so he could slow beside Oak, he muttered an annoyed comment under his breath.

"Calm down. Its just for a day or two. And the alpha wanted someone who wasn't older or would make crazy decisions. Well, not too crazy. Personally, I just think that the alpha wants to boost Bekus confidence." Oak shook her head, curious and furious at the same time. She glanced at Steven and bumped his shoulder. "Buck up, its only a day. Besides, look at him. He is obviously liking it."

"Too much," Steven snarled, "It's like he's basking in his glory" Steven shot an angry glance over to him, then glanced back at Oak, forcing his fur to lie flat again.

Oak sighed, resting her chin on his neck for a moment. "I'll talk to him. I have a feeling this is somehow tied to his sister, though I'm not sure how. If she killed the beta . . . . " She trailed off, the menace in her voice obvious.

Steven felt his fur rise with shock, "She might have killed the Beta, knowing that he had the chance of becoming Beta," He paused, and growled, "He's not even ready." he snarled. Edited at March 18, 2021 02:10 PM by Howls Of Thunder

"What! I'm am sure that is not what happened. And besides, that wolf would have told us if the alpha was dead! He just said the beta was killed, not the alpha died then the beta became alpha," Oak sighed. "And I know he isn't ready. I will speak with him now, if it would make you feel better." She said, the trotted forward to match Beukus pace. "I heard you are beta now." He nodded, smiling. "Yes, thats true. Well, not exactly, I'm just acting beta until the alpha chooses an official beta." His head and tail drooped slightly and Oak nodded. "Do you have any idea how the beta was killed?" He paused then slowly nodded his head. "My sister dragged him out of quicksand. I got there just as she freed him. He was already dead. I assumed he had died from not enough air or something, since he had to be pulled by his tail. I guessed he had gone in head first. I called the alpha and explained what I thought had happened. Genni said that she had seen him halfway in, and had tried to save him. By the time she got him out, he was dead. Shadow said to tell everyone he was killed by a wolf, not quicksand. He also spoke with Genni and has agreed that she can stay on the outskirts of camp for now. He will consider letting her in, but she must still prove she is worthy, willing, and loyal." Beku stopped talking, taking a deep breath. "Oh . . . " Oak muttered, as they walked into camp.

"How can you trust what Genni 'said' without any proof?" Steven growled, stopping Beku, "She isn't a member of this pack, and she probably never will be" he snarled, "Plus, I said to Oak she probably killed the Beta, knowing you'd get the posistion. Beku, this isn't smart of you, you hardly know how to hunt." He snorted.

Beku stopped and turned on Steven. "She is my sister. If your sister, Enara, had done the same thing, would you assume she had killed him so you would become beta? Listen, you may think you can order me around, but you do not have control over me. She did not know I would get to be beta! Its not even permanent! I don't care what you think, all you care about, is impressing others, like Oak." He snorted, turning away. "I've seen how you act around her. You like her, don't you." And with that he bounded off, to the alphas den. The other two wolves left to their business and Beku emerged a minute later, then went to the trainees den. Despite being acting beta, he still slept in the trainees den.

Steven growled, calling after him, "Sometimes, even I don't like my sister!" He snarled after Beku, angrier than he has ever been. He dragged his foot behind him, It's not like the Alpha would make me Beta, he thought, glancing down at his crippled hind leg.

Oak nudged him gently. "Its okay. Just calm down. He is angry." She sighed as she felt the tension between the two and the anger in Steven at Beku and his crippled leg.
