...
Yeah.
Song; This Is Love by Air Traffic Controller.
Characters; Andi and Garvin.
Context;
Just… Giving you some information about Andi. Fair warning, this is going to be a mixture of both types of song lyric things. I’ll explain what the lines refer to in some places, and give context with characters actually saying lines at other times. I also won’t be giving you approximate ages since I want to keep that bit a little more vague. I feel like that works better for this. So… Prepare for that.
*~*~*~*
*Starting off strong, we have Garvin taunting Andi. Because of course he does that. He knows that Andi won’t kill him until he screams or begs, so he’s just going to be a taunting, grinning little brat instead.*
Garvin; “You're no good, you're no good. You could kill me and you should.”

I'm an idiot for thinking
This was anything but blood
On the wall, on the couch
On the corner of my mouth
These lines refer to how Garvin hadn’t realized that he was in danger when he’d first met Andi. It also references some of what happened in the almost two years he spent. The third line there, in specific, the ‘on the couch’ part hints at Andi’s system changed a bit and Garvin had actually been moved upstairs a few times, not much and never with free reign but it had happened.
*Switch it up a bit, Andi has a lot of emotional tactics with his victims. This goes over one such tactic a bit.*
Andi; “You must like being the victim, you've done nothing to get out.”

Of this pattern of pain
Washed away by the rain
This hints at a bit of what happened. Again, there’s a tub in the basement, Andi knows Garvin can’t swim, and he also technically would know about the related fear. Do with that information as you may.
You'll forgive me if I promise
And do nothing but the same
Again, hints at some tactics of Andi’s, and how effective they are. But it also hints a bit at how Garvin managed to go almost two years in the situation without breaking.
This is life until death
Could be my last dying breath
These lines hint at quite a bit, actually. For one, how effective Andi’s tactics are. For two, some of Garvin’s thoughts during the situation. For three, a bit of how Garvin managed to go almost two years without breaking, surprisingly. And plenty of other stuff is hinted at too here but those are the main three.
*Again, we have Andi who truly does believe that this is love. It also hints a bit at his tactics.*
Andi; “But this is love, love, shut up, this is love.”
*Now we are really switching things up! This is more so when they first met. Garvin is someone who reads people and figures out what they want to hear and then rolls with that, unbothering to think of consequences. Andi had been no different at first, and with them both at least slightly under the influence, Garvin hadn’t really thought much about how off the situation was. That being said, Andi was also someone quick at reading people and guessing where someone was going with something came easy. Which made their conversation flow much smoother.*
Garvin; “Forget everything you used to know.”
Andi, taking a guess at the conversation; “I think you better tell your friends to go?”
Garvin, grinning; “Stick around cause I'm about to show you, the beginning is the end.”
Garvin, further into the conversation; “Yeah, I know wrong, I know right.. But I just love to pick a fight.”

I can sleep with one eye open
If there's any sleep at night
These lines hint a bit more of how Garvin survived not just during the almost two years, but also before and after the almost two years.
I got my knife, got my gun
Let's see how fast you can run
These lines literally just hint at the fact that Andi is a sick, twisted serial killer. That’s all. That is all these two lines do. Hint at the fact that Andi is terrible.
You might think that you can hurt me
But the damage has been done
These two lines, however, hint at Garvin and how he manages to survive the almost two years. Hinting at his taunting, his reactions to trauma, and just how he survives everything in his life.
It's pathetic, I know
A jealous fool who won't let go
If I was sorry for my actions
Would I ever stoop so low
Hinting at a bit of Andi’s tactics, the fact that he‘s doing what he’s doing, and hinting at the fact that he’s still trying to find and take Garvin back.
Got no reason to live
and I've got nothing left to give you
But my love, love, fuck it, this is love
And this… These lines… Hint at a few different things. For one, how Garvin responds to trauma. For two, some of Garvin’s overall trauma. For three, how he survived for almost two years in that situation. And for four, just how effective Andi’s tactics can be. And other stuff too, but those are the major things at least.
*Switching things up to that conversation when they first met again, this time a bit more of Andi’s perspective and some more additions to the conversation.*
Garvin; “Forget everything you used to know.”
Andi, taking a guess at the conversation; “I think you better tell your friends to go?”
Garvin, grinning; “Stick around cause I'm about to show you, the beginning is the end.”
Andi, further into the conversation, seeing how much he can hint at: “Oh I was hit as a kid, I was good but then I quit. Everyone that tried to fix me knows that I can't change a bit.”
Garvin, matching the tone of the conversation with ease as one does: “I've got no shame, got no pride.”
Garvin and Andi, falling into an easy flow for conversation: “Only skeletons to hide.”

And if you try to talk to someone
Well then someone has to die
Hinting a bit at the only thing that could get Andi to kill someone before finishing a victim. Also hinting at the lengths Andi would go to take Garvin back.
Once you chase me down the hole
Yeah once you think you're in control
Garvin had been in for the long haul. On some level, he’d been planning a way to get out the entire time. Which probably helped a bit in the whole not breaking department.
You'll believe that we are partners
And you'll feel uncomfortable
Oh then the darkness rolls in
And you'll forget who I have been
Hinting at Andi’s tactics again, how effective they are, and a few other things I haven’t actually told you about yet. Like how when Andi gave food, he’d give an alcoholic drink with it instead of water. Usually, it was also laced with something.
*Again, Andi who truly does believe that this is love. Also hinting at a bit of his tactics, specifically where his ability ‘Passion’ is used.*
Andi: “But you'll love, love, love it, this is love.”
*Again, switch back to the first conversation they had. Partly because it’s part of the song. Also because now you can look at it with all the information you now have.*
Garvin; “Forget everything you used to know.”
Andi, taking a guess at the conversation; “I think you better tell your friends to go?”
Garvin, grinning; “Stick around cause I'm about to show you, the beginning is the end.”

The simple love that your grandparents had
This kind of love will only make you mad, honey
Hinting at the fact that Andi truly does at least slightly think of what he’s doing as love. A sick, twisted form of love. And he has no regrets, shame, or remorse for his actions.
It hurts at first but it ain't that bad
You gotta wonder what it meant
Hinting at how Garvin responds/reacts to trauma, how he managed to survive for almost two years in that situation, and just how effective some of Andi’s tactics are.
This is love
Hints at how Andi truly believes it to be love, how he uses ‘Passion’, a bit of his tactics during this, how effective some of the tactics are, and a bit of how Garvin managed to survive for almost two years there.
