The Fairies of Edenhale Edenhale. The home of the fairies, one of the fairest and kindest races known to the land of Lethendor. The kingdom is vast and prosperous, the buildings made out of living trees and towering high in the sky. Here, nature is a friend and is a permanent resident to the kingdom. The fairies have little enemies and many allies, even the toughest people have been won over by their charm and grace. Their strongest ally are the elves, of which they share much of their ancestry with. However, humans and fairies are often butting heads with humans wanting to cut down forests for land and fairies fighting back to keep the trees from crying out in pain. Some humans even look for fairies to cut off their precious and priceless wings! Due to this, the fairies stay close to home and keep their home safe within the natural barrier of the forest. However, the humans are notoriously stubborn. They won’t take no for an answer. They search for Edenhale, to take the fairies’ riches for their own and their wings. They will only find stone, wood and dirt. The fairies have no need for valuables such as gold and jewels. With the humans even bringing in human mages to burn down the forest to find the hidden kingdom of Edenhale, the fairy queen has to decide. Will she evacuate the kingdom and take her people to their ancestral home underneath the elven city of Valendell, or will they sit and hope that the humans do not find their beloved home? The Fairy Race The Basics Fairies are often short, shorter than humans. The average height is around 5’ (152 centimeters), with females being slightly shorter. Males have no facial hair or body hair, only the hair on their heads. The average physique for a fairy is light and airy and they normally weigh 100 pounds (45 kg) with males being somewhat heavier. Fairies have pointed ears and often long hair and colorful appearances. Their eye colors range from any color of the rainbow other than white and black. Their hair is many different colors as well but the color usually matches a fairy’s eye color, just a few shades darker. So, a red eyed fairy would have dark red hair. Fairies are immortal. As long as the earth around them is healthy, they stay alive. They can die due to injury and extreme emotions, such as grief, however. When a fairy dies, their soul returns to the Mother Tree and they are able to live forever with their passed ancestors and loved ones, though they may choose to be reborn as any of the sentient races of Lethendor. Fairies do reproduce though not in the way that you’d expect. They do and can do it the traditional way but nothing will come out of it. Instead, fairies who are deeply in love will both find a healthy tree and copulate underneath the branches. If their love is pure, a seed will sprout from the ground and they will be able to plant it in the fairy nursery where they will live for six months to watch over their seed and water it. The seed will then grow to a large and beautiful flower, from which a baby will be born when the flower blooms. The new parents can then take their newborn back home. Fairies do not need to eat. They get their food from the sunlight and the life energies around them. They do have to drink water and sleep just like any other race, though. They can eat if they wish just for the taste and pleasure of it. Fairies age differently than humans. A fairy is considered fully grown at their 100th year but does not reach full adulthood until they are 200. At their 150th year, puberty starts and they are able to reproduce. When fairies reach 1000 and onward, they start showing signs of slight aging, mostly in their hair due to the melanin fading. When they reach 5000 and onward, fairies start showing wrinkles and have their mobility slowed. Around the time of 6000 and upwards, fairies start considering rejoining the Mother Tree and being reborn. Wings Fairy wings are delicate and require maintenance. However, the different type of wing determines the integrity and the rate of maintenance. Every fairy wing is different, like a fingerprint, though family members tend to have similar patterns. Clear and butterfly wings cannot get wet under any circumstances, or else a fairy will be grounded until they dry. Clear Clear wings are the most fragile and the wing that requires the most maintenance, though they aren’t easily broken. They have the same integrity of a tree trunk. Clear wings come in many shapes and sizes and are often the most diverse in the patterns and formations. They often are iridescent and the color is usually the same as the fairy’s eye color. Fairies with these wings fly the fastest but have low stamina. Butterfly Butterfly wings are the second most fragile with less amount of maintenance. They have the integrity of stone. Butterfly wings come in the different shapes, sizes and colors of butterflies and moths. They aren’t nearly as diverse but are not any less beautiful. The rarer the butterfly or moth, the rarer the wing. Fairies with luna moth wings are often uncommon. Fairies with these wings have balanced speed and stamina. Feathered Feathered wings are the toughest wings out there and require little maintenance, only during molting will they require constant maintenance. They have the same integrity as bone. They come in many shapes, sizes and colors. Common patterns can be that of birds or just solid colors. Feathered wings are large and somewhat heavy and thus, fairies with these wings are often bulkier, often used for guards. They fly the slowest but have the best stamina. |

Fairy Powers Fairy powers are often nature-based, like water and earth, though some may have more mental powers like telepathy and empath. All fairies can speak to animals and feel the life energies of those around them and heal others. Thus, they are great trackers and healers. All fairies can connect to other races and species using an ancient fairy spell known as Minroth. This spell allows them to share memories, thoughts and feelings, though it takes many years to master. The spell must be practiced or the spell will backfire and unintended memories and emotions will be passed through, which is fairly unpleasant, as well as a headache afterwards. All fairies can show and hide their wings at will. They can also transform into tiny versions of themselves, about the size of a postage stamp. This is very helpful for hiding from humans or travelling long distances. As such, many fairy homes have hidden nooks and crannies. All fairies have some semblance of tree-shaping, an ancient art used to build their homes. This magical art speeds up the growth of trees and living things astronomically and they can be shaped in the right direction by the magic. Do it wrong, though, and the plant may die or grow out of control. Both of these can be fixed by an experienced tree-shaper and healer but it is quite a hassle to remove fallen leaves out of a new home. |

She has fairly tanned skin, and a more muscular build, but still rather thin. Her hair and eyes blend fairly well with her skin tone, both being dark green. Xena's eyes are moss green, and her hair is hunter green, only a few shades darker than her eyes. Xena prefers to wear darker green clothing when on the job but will branch out to other colors when not working. Personality: Don't let Xena's dark preference fool you. Sure, she is a very serious fairy, but only when she is working. While on break, Xena has been known to joke around, perhaps even pull a lighthearted prank. Just, don't bug her while she's on duty. Wing Type: Feathered. Wings of a Violet-green Swallow. Specific Power (water, earth, etc.): She can blend into the shadows, so long as she is wearing dark clothing. Family?: PM me Backstory: Xena's parents were also guards, and prepared her for the role ever since she could fly. She is kind to everyone she sees and isn't afraid to start up a conversation with a stranger. Oftentimes, one can find Nic sunbathing or playing in a creek or stream. The only time Nic gets defensive is when someone tries to touch her wings. Just, don't do that. No one likes an upset Nic. Wing Type: Butterfly. Limenitis arthemis wings. Lost this thread for a while and had to hunt it down- XD Let me know if there's anything I need to change. Also, my favorite color is red. ^-^ Name: Raven Firecloud Race: Fairy Age: 23 (Or the fairy equivalent of that age, rather) Gender: Male Sexuality: Straight Role: Fairy Council Appearance: Long, pitch-black hair, usually styled into a braid with bits of copper lace woven into it, very pale complexion with thin lips, a small nose, and piercing, upturned pink eyes. He usually dresses very formally and can be very off-putting or intimidating at first sight due to his dour expression. He's a bit thin for a feathered fae, but not girlish. (Honestly, he looks more like a pissed-off elf than a fairy. Maybe he's a half-breed, I don't know- XD) Personality: Stern and strict, but surprisingly caring. He's much sweeter to those who know him and treat him with respect than he is to new people. Also something of a Mother Hen character. Wing Type: Feathered, his wings are white, but the ends have suffered some burn damage. Specific Power (water, earth, etc.): Telepathy Family?: A brother who is another feathered fairy, but has fire manipulation powers rather than the usual telepathy or empath powers of his ancestors. Neither sibling really knows where their parents are. (If not enough people apply and I'm allowed to, I may add Raven's brother in.) Backstory: Raven and Draco kind of popped up out of thin air. One day a sprout was found in the nursery with a note that said they belonged to the Firecloud family, who hadn't been heard from in a few centuries. However, their parents were nowhere to be found. Despite rarely, if ever, being watered, the hardy plant eventually just barely bloomed. Inside were two little winged fae, both boys. Since no one could find their parents, they were raised by a family that was willing to foster them until they were old enough to take over their old family home. (If this sounds really weird for fae, it's because these two are an alteration of two OCs I already have that are a couple of science experiments come to life, which I figured would make even less sense.) Other: Raven is a bit of a tall boy for a fairy (5'4), but his brother is actually even taller than him (5'7)! Also, if you can't tell, the burns on Raven's wings are his brother's doing. |
