Ase watched the forest as she walked, humming a slight melody under her breath. The shadows seemed to move. The naive part of her told her it was just a woodland creature. But, to be frank, she'd never really listened to her naive self. It seemed contradictory of her station and achievements. The woman pulled a dagger out of her boot and held the hilt in her palm, the blade pressed up against her arm to conceal the weapon. It was small, the blade just barely making the three-inch mark. She continued on, narrowed eyes set on the trees around her. It was dark. Dark enough to hinder the half-fae's normally reasonably good darkvision. She could see maybe....fifteen feet in front of her. Ase's eyes followed a small, laser-like beam of moonlight that was angled towards a certain tree. Hmm...nothing there, it looks like. She paused for a moment and listened, trying to catch any sign of life. |

Kalen stayed behind the tree, breathing slowly to avoid whoever it was from hearing he was there. He knew it certainly wasn’t going to be any of his guards from his camp. They all knew well enough by know that if he walked off in a huff; to just leave him the fuck alone. None of them would have the guts to come out here to find him, to bother him. Whoever the figure belonged to, it definitely wasn’t going to be a friend of his. He knew if it came down to a fight, he wasn’t going to like how it ended. What had happened this morning hadn’t even counted as a fight, but it had still managed to piss him off enough to know that this time, they both wouldn’t be walking away from it. Kalen needed to avoid this fight, trying to pinpoint the direction of which the person was coming from, he stepped out from behind the tree, hopefully in the opposite direction, the leaves crunching under his shoes as he did so. Ase heard..something. It was slightly muffled, but she could still make it out. It echoed her own steps, the swift, dry crackle of leaves being tromped over. They seemed to be coming from...actually, she couldn't tell. If she had a clear presence of mind, she might've been able to disern the direction. But alas, her mind was muddled by thoughts of...whatever had happened today in the clearing. The woman sighed a bit, resigning herself to the possibility of a fight. She flipped the dagger into a useable position and took a breath. "Hey!" She called, her voice seemingly more flat and hushed than her normal tone. The singular word echoed dully through the area. Ase listened to her voice reach back to her ears and almost cringed. Had she really sounded like that? Oh, how awkward it was to hear your own voice outside of your head... The half-fae pulled herself from her thoughts and took a step towards the sound that had first triggered her reaction. She squinted her eyes to try to make out a figure. Ah...there they are! She caught the faint outline of a tall, slender figure. In her mind, she sighed. It couldn't be Kalen...could it? |

Kalen heard the voice and cursed, rather loudly. He knew exactly the person that voice belonged to, and at this point in time, he would have preferred it to have been one of his guards or friends bothering him. Ase was the last person he wanted to see and he sure as hell wasn’t in the mood to be around her, again. There was only so much of her a person could take in a day, and they’d exceeded that limit hours ago. Turning around, he looked at her, stepping just far enough for the light streaming through the trees to hit his face, knowing that now, for sure, he wasn’t able to hide his identity. Kalen glared at her with a look overflowing with his hatred. “What the fuck are you doing here? If you don’t leave the second, I swear to god I will kill you” |

Ase blinked a few times, trying to get her eyes adjusted to the dim light shining upon Kalen's face. This lighting made him look ethereal. She locked eyes with him and almost cringed at the look she was given. It was the most hateful look she'd ever seen..and that was a hard feat to accomplish. She sighed inwardly and put her hands up in a sort of surrender. "I don't want trouble. Not right now, at least." She averted her eyes and looked back towards the forest. She listened to their words echo back, merely a whisper. "It's not like I followed you." She took a step back, sheathing her dagger into her boot again. |

Kalen watched her with a glare, not bothering to hide his annoyance from her. There was no point in trying to preserve her feelings when they try to kill each other at least three times a week. It wasn't the best of situations but at least this, he could deal with. He frowned as he watched her sheathing her dagger, but leaned against the tree he had been previously standing behind. His jaw clenching as he listened to her. "Fun story, still, if you don't leave I will kill you" |

Ase clenched her jaw. This man was a world-class annoyance. An absolute ass. She thought on that for a moment. Yes, they were at war. Yes, they've been conditioned since the start of their lives to loathe the mere existence of the other. But, was he never taught manners? She inwardly sighed once more. In the words of...someone..maybe, "If one is an annoyance, take care to make yourself one as well." Using this (probably flawed) logic, the woman reasoned out her next actions. With a heavy sigh, she plopped down on the ground, crossing her legs and resting her elbows on her knees. "Oh, but that wouldn't be any fun, would it?" She smiled up at him, a glint of malice in her eyes. |
