Grayson "Lorde" Brixton | Male | 15 | Rogue | Mentions: Marcus

Grayson writhed in Harmond's grip as he was patted down. It was a pointless attempt, he didn't carry anything. However Harmond seemed justified in being a bit too rough.

These two Rogues were part of something like a crew, but it wasn't a crew. It was simply just a group of rogues who replied to a higher person. Who? He didn't exactly know. That made them a bit more dangerous then a crew. Crews were accounted for in a database. Rogues? No one gives a crap about them.

Trey surveyed the other teenager with what could be considered confusion, respect, and a bit of a challenge. "So you're part of one of the big crews right? Where's your board? Don't you crews pride yourself with the symbols you carry?"

Trey's gaze landed on Lorde once more, but then swiftly moved back to King.
"Oh, him? It's actually quite a long story. Ending though, he promised us something, and then he bails. Claiming someone had a larger amount of points they were willing to auction off... So if you actually want him back, we can dump him somewhere a little bit later. It shouldn't take too long, although I can't exactly ensure he will be in 'good condition'."

Marcus Kingston | M | 19 | Lions' Blocker | Mentions: Grayson

"Nah, you're wrong. We pride ourselves on what we do, but mostly because we're better than everybody else." He returned sharply as the younger boarder mentioned his lack of a board. Practically everyone on the streets had one, and yet there was Marcus, who was obviously a boarder, strutting around on foot. Of course he'd point it out. Even if it wasn't exactly a direct sort of challenge, that didn't make it sting any less. His lip lifted in a sneer and he indicated Lorde with a nod, saying, "That's his fault, too. He was just about to get me my points and my board before you two came along."

What they were implying didn't make him feel guilty or anxious or worried for the kid's well-being in the slightest. It did, however, make him instantly protective of those points stashed away in the kid's bracelet. Those were his. He didn't care what sort of beef these two rogues had with Lorde, but he'd gotten to him first, and if they rendered him incapable of transferring points, he'd be completely useless. It would be a shame, a real waste of what he'd recently come to recognize as his personal bank.

"Yeah, actually, you're gonna need to get in line." Marcus gave a little scoff at the idea of being handed down the scraps from a couple of rogues. He had a track record of being unpredictable and volatile on a board, so it was perhaps not unexpected when he barrelled towards the kid holding Lorde for a blocker-style full body tackle. It would have been more effective if he'd been on a board, but he knew how to use his body weight to disarm even when he was grounded. He dearly missed the feeling of the pavement rushing underneath him, but he tried to squash those feelings as he struggled with the boarder to give Lorde an opening to bolt for freedom. All he needed was two seconds and a dash of luck to avoid the two rogues who would surely be after him before he could blink. His board was right there, waiting.

Trey didn't respond to the board less boarder. He didn't feel a need to at least to his first comment. Crew members always thought they were better than everyone else. He had made his notions clear and had expected to carry them out without a problem. Lorde was honestly too much work than what the little dude was worth.

"Lorde is a bulk of many problems... He knows how to pay up though!... Dude! What are you doing?!" He called out as 'King' raced towards Harmond and plowed him down.

Grayson now instantly freed stumbled away from Harmond. Taking his board underneath him he was off. Evading Trey wasn't in his agenda. Ramming the teen was. So he did, his board hit evenly off of the side and sent Trey careening backwards.

From the impact King had delivered Harmond's board slipped out from underneath his feet. "What the heck is wrong with you?" The boy stuttered out as he tried to push King away from him.

Grayson surveyed the situation, and this time while thinking darted to the side into the bulk of the traffic. Harmond and Trey weren't exactly great boarders. They'd lose him while blinking.

Marcus liked to think that, as he'd grown older, he'd also become less impulsive and a little better about thinking ahead. However, he was forced to re-evaluate his opinions as he found himself faced with two angry rogues and no board with which to flee. Most importantly, Lorde had vanished in about five seconds flat and abandoned him to deal with his problems like the cowardly rogue he'd already shown himself to be. Not that Marcus was above fighting the battles of others, he just preferred to set his own circumstances. Namely, having a board on hand that he could use to smash into people like an overly aggressive bumper car.

He uttered a incoherent noise of frustration and whirled on the boarder who'd been holding Lorde, the one who'd made the mistake of confronting him physically. Marcus shoved back, hard, utterly blind to whatever the other boarder was doing. He was pretty sure he'd seen the kid go sprawling when Lorde zipped by. For all he knew he was still on the ground, or chasing after his quarry. He couldn't worry about both, but he was more than happy to focus his anger on Harmond as he backed the rogue against the wall.

"His punk ass is mine. You can find him again after I'm done. That's what you're good at, right? Picking up the scraps from crews." He growled. His eyes flicked down to give the rogue's hoverboard a quick appraisal. It looked like complete garbage from his brief glance, and it probably was, but he was sick to death of walking around this broken city. There wasn't even the slightest pause as he gave him another shove and demanded, "Your board looks like trash, but it's still too nice for crew-less trash like you. Hand it over."

Grayson hefted himself into traffic without really hesitating. It was slow moving and by the time Trey and Harmond left, they wouldn't be able to find him. Marcus though? He wasn't sure. He hadn't actually seen the other boy on a board that would suggest his talent. Although, him being a Lion could say otherwise.

Harmond was one of those tough guys that really needed a partner. Actually, he was Trey's sidekick, so him being alone wasn't good. Upon the other teens demand he hesitantly grasped his own board. He didn't want to, but he would anyways. Trey was fumbling on the ground not far from where they were. He didn't exactly remember all that had happened to the other boy, but he knew one thing. Trey wasn't watching.

With a grumble he handed the board to the older teen. "Please just don't destroy it?"

Grayson hadn't gone far, and he was filled with relief over the passing minute. No one had emerged from the side where he left. That was considered good news. He almost felt thankful when Marcus basically, well Literally saved him. The fun part was though... Marcus probably was doing it for self interest. Trey and Harmond would have took all he had on him if they had taken him. It was just how they rolled. He could count multiple Rogues who'd wake up with a concussion, missing all the points they had.

"Yeah, sure." He shot back vaguely as he snatched the board out of his hands. He would make no promises, but he might make the effort to leave it somewhere it could be reclaimed if he was feeling kind. Otherwise, he'd strip it down and sell it for parts as soon as he got his hoverboard back. He bent and quickly synced the new board to his bracelet and then hopped on and zipped away from the two rogues.

The difference was instantaneous and entirely unwelcome. This board was clumsy; unfamiliar and slow to respond to his movements, but it was fast. Faster than being on foot, at least. He wobbled a bit as he made his way out into the traffic of the city, struggling for the first few moments while he got his footing and tried to get a feel for the new board. By five minutes in he was more comfortable, but hadn't spotted the kid yet. He couldn't have gone that far, right? Not in the middle of rush hour.

He slowed the board and scanned the crowds for any sight of Lorde. Being small and slight made it frustratingly easy for the kid to slip away. Maybe he'd made the wrong decision in helping him fly free. If he'd been smarter about it, he could have just tagged along and waited for the two rogues to finish, and then taken his points from there. But his bullheaded, impulsive nature had won out, helped along by a healthy dose of pride. He exhaled, a grumbling, irritated sound. "Shit."

Grayson "Lorde" Brixton | Male | 15 | Rogue | Mentions:

Grayson sifted through the traffic slowly, almost everyone had a board these days, and it was evident. Kids about 5 years old came past with their mothers. They could soon too be wrapped up in a crew life. Or a Rogue, whichever one came first. It was odd to never have been a rogue. There probably were people out there though who had that strange instance.

His bracelet binged once more in this past hour.
'Collector is on 5th Avenue. You're late'.

Good thing 5th Avenue was right at the opening of the main traffic. The bulk of traffic would turn right leaving him to go straight. That road lead to the backstreets which was where most Crews and Rogues hung out or raced.

He noticed his normal 'collector' a girl dressed rather skimpily and of short stature. She gave him a raised eyebrow and gestured for his wrist. Quickly he set up the transfer of 2000.
"They want 5000 for the trouble... And the status?" She asked with a smile.
"Fine then. Oh yeah, the crew's disbanded... Tell her I don't want to do this type of job again. If she wants it done get someone else."

The exchange was over then, and he was left with 3000. Not bad, considering he had expected to be dry by now. Leaning against the wall the girl had just departed from he browsed through a list of crews subtly.

To his great displeasure, Marcus had lost track of Lorde soon after he'd fled, but the hours that had passed since then hadn't been a complete waste. Before coming down to the Track, he'd managed to land a meal - gratis, of course, he still didn't have two points to rub together - and a snack, also courtesy of the five finger discount. He was still spitting seed hulls as he guided his board over to a girl who was maybe a year or two younger than him.

It was busy, swarmed with kids - most of them younger, but some a little older. Loud music of varying genres battled it out in the background while kids battled it out in the backstreets, racing for points or simply pride. Lights flashed. Boarders showed off their gear. Some sold parts on the side. He loved this atmosphere. It was tense, sharp, familiar. Half the entertainment was watching people break into fights.

The girl was dressed in a loose green ringer tee and a snapback, her black hair buzzed short on the sides. She appraised Marcus as he pulled up and gave him a little nod of greeting.

"Hey Liv, I'm looking for some kid who goes by Lorde? Ran into him earlier, said he used to be a Spartan. You know who I'm talking about?" He asked as he crumpled the empty package of seeds into a ball.

Liv shrugged, her eyes on the action as a pair of boarders zipped by, swiftly followed by three more moving in a pack, "I've heard that name before. I thought the Spartans disbanded a while back."

Marcus frowned. He didn't have much of an answer for that one. He'd thought the same thing up until he bumped into that smart mouthed kid. He was too distracted to watch the racing. Instead, his eyes wandered, scanning the crowd as he muttered in return, "Yeah, well, the Spartan leftovers spend their free time harassing crews, getting their boards lifted, and sucking up to cops."

But then, with a little jolt, he saw Lorde. Granted, he wasn't the only kid in a grubby pair of sweatpants and a tee shirt on the block, but Marcus was sure that he'd seen enough of him to recognize him anywhere. He'd been locked up in the back of a cruiser with him, for pete's sake. He nudged Liv and pointed the kid out, then rolled slowly over to him, shouldering boarders aside to get through the energetic crowd.

"Gotta say, I was expecting at least a 'thank you' message after I stuck my neck out for you. Or did you forget that manners existed when your crew got busted?"

Grayson "Lorde" Brixton | Male | 15 | Rogue | Mentions: Marcus

He had raced twice since getting to the backstreets. Both were successful but weak in point pay. Of course he was more interested in placement racing. Keeping his spot up at the top. Rogue's had a different network then crews did. It showed placing, worth, and sometimes how often you could find each racer.

Grayson hadn't been really up to socializing. He had recently changed into black joggers with a similar shirt, but it was much cleaner, and didn't make him seem as much like he had just came out of the Underground portion of the city.

He didn't expect Marcus to be here. He had figured he would have been going to his crew and possibly trying to get points. Of course he didn't know how liable that idea was. Turning while swaying on his board he didn't look as smug as he had before. Or aggressive. Just... content.

"See, I did think about coming back, because honestly that was a little unexpected. If anything I thought you'd help them out. The reason I didn't come back... I'm pretty sure you weren't concerned about my well being. The only interest you have is what I can offer. But, if you wanted an act of gratefulness... Thank you."

Marcus Kingston | M | 19 | Lions' Blocker | Mentions: Grayson

The environment of the Backstreets, chaotic and inflammatory as it was, actually seemed to have the opposite effect on the usually tense Marcus. He was relaxed, or about as relaxed as he was likely to get. Maybe it was knowing that he was surrounded by enough adrenaline and aggression to match his own, or maybe it was the several hours he'd had to chill out, but for once, he didn't come across as spoiling for a fight.

A real genius, this one. Of course he didn't care about some rogue getting his ass handed to him. It was more the principle of the thing. It would have done serious damage to Marcus' self image if he'd backed down and let a couple of scruffy rogues take what was his, what he'd already worked and suffered for - or so he told himself.

"You're welcome." Marcus sounded remarkably genuine as he said this, without a trace of sarcasm or hostility in his voice. There was something about the kid. He didn't care about him or his well-being, hell no it wasn't anything like that. Lorde was rude and obnoxious and talked too much for his own good. He was also plenty reckless and had already shown himself to have incredibly poor judgement. But even when the kid started stalling and rambling and making excuses, Marcus' urge to punch him in the face was at a low point. Subdued, for the moment.

There was no guarantee of how long that would last, however. With Marcus, it only took a scratch or two at the surface to draw blood. He crushed the plastic packaging in his fist and tossed it aside, somewhere off into the crowd, the added with a touch of a humor, "I also accept tips. 340 points worth of tips."
