It would be darker if this happens once Epiling visits and he tried to threaten Simon back into a relationship and when Simon doesn't comply he convinces Mergen to run away with him

Mergen actually just runs away of their own accord. They get fed up with everything going on (Aka Simon and Aeron moving on) and runs off. I have it plotted that Simon calls Philip and Philip is very much the type of person who says 'Just wait it out, I'm sure it'll all be okay'. Which isn't exactly a good way to handle this. And then Ghazi catches wind somehow and ends up just tracking them down because he's much more confrontational than the other two.

So if Epiling was back by then, it'd probably be something where it's a race between Ghazi and Epiling to find them first, basically.

Ooooo that would be really interesting to have Ghazi and Epiling trying to both find Mergen

It definitely would be, yeah. Imagine if the two ended up fighting if they both found Mergen at the same time-

Epiling beginning to manipulate Mergen and getting real close to them so Ghazi won't try anything

Mergen is very emotionally conflicted on both of these adults and is probably yelling at them both to go away. And might even be dipping into their magic on accident, because control is definitely something they lack due to theirs developing later and all.

Meanwhile Ghazi is just a powerhouse of strength and control when it comes to magic. And he has a surprising amount of willpower too. He'd be very careful to avoid hurting Mergen, obviously, but he'd also be rather confident in his ability to not hurt Mergen.

I don't know why but I'm surprised he'd yell at Epiling too for some reason- this is all very useful to know for later though

Well Epiling abandoned them too! Of course Mergen's yelling at him! Mergen's very conflicted on the both of them. They don't like either of those two.
