Song: Ghost by Confetti.
(With some slight adjustments to the lyrics to avoid as much repeating and make it more accurate to characters in certain places)
Characters:
Garvin.
Context:
So, uh, Garvin has this habit that when he gets attached to someone, like actually attached to someone, he leaves. Because once he actually cares, leaving on his own is easier than being told to leave. This can cause quite a bit of drama with people he’s crashed with in the past, especially ones where there were other feelings involved. Such as with Melzar or Felix. Both of whom you don’t know because, again, you know an overview of Garvin trauma but almost nothing that’s actually specific.
I’ll give you approximate ages, as per usual. When I give you Garvin’s age, keep in mind that he doesn’t actually know what his age is.

*For a bit, Garvin had been crashing with Melzar. Garvin, at best, saw it as a friends with benefits kind of thing. At best. Melzar thought they were together. As one could expect, that lack of communication comes back the worst way possible. Especially when Garvin starts to more consistently consider them to be actual friends, not just the surface level, fake friends that he’s comfortable with having.*
Garvin (18), to Melzar (20), more or less an overview of their last conversation; “Look, I don't wanna fight you. You got to know that I meant it when I said that I liked you… Or maybe just the idea? I bought it, don't want it, now return that shit like IKEA. Apologize, I'm not a mind reader. I need attention, so I try to be a crowd pleaser. It was easy 'til it got a little deeper, now I don't know how to deal with you so I'ma disappear.”
*Switch up slightly. When he leaves Melzar, that’s when he joins the Giles run group, Lucia isn’t yet part of the group.*
Garvin (18), taking the free train ride method he apparently loves; “I'm a ghost, now you see me, now you don't. I'm a ghost, every time you hit the phone.
*Switch up the timeline, by quite a bit. Another person Garvin did something similar to was Felix. This time, it was kind of communicated and the whole thing was a complicated mess. Neither of them got into the relationship liking each other, and they were kind of using each other. So when feelings start showing up, Garvin panics and dips because he already knew it wasn’t going to last forever, nothing with him does, so leaving on his own is easier.*
Garvin (21), to Felix (20), more or less an overview of how the last conversation between them went; “Hey, I know it's inconvenient to change your background but let's back down. So you can see this is a problem I don't wanna put myself in front of. That's why I blocked you, 'cause I'm not the guy you should rely on… Or spy on, creep on, I don't know. I just ain't that type of hoe, if I don't holler, let me go. I should've said it but I didn't and I won't.”
*Switch up the timeline slightly. Again, immediately after the conversation, Garvin packs up and leaves. If he hadn’t already packed up and was on his way out when the conversation started, that is.*
Garvin (21), making his way to a new city; “I'm a ghost, now you see me, now you don't. I'm a ghost, every time you hit the phone.”
*Switching the timeline way back. Because it had been a thing even before Melzar. It had been a thing since before the group with Rinny. Unfortunately, that was the first time it ever showed up when the people involved actually cared too. Ford and Garvin were prone to fighting though, so it took longer.*
Garvin (16), to Ford (14), in that mockingly smug way of his; “I know you hate me, ‘cause I've been shady. I don't get reception, I missed your call but best believe I got the message.”
*That being said, even if it took longer. It did happen eventually. Because Garvin cannot handle people genuinely caring about him. Or him caring about someone either.*
Garvin (16), to Ford (14), a general overview of their last conversation; “Why don't you just leave me alone? I think it's lasted way too long. I thought by now that you would know… But since you don't?”
*Switch up the timeline slightly, Garvin leaves yet again! As one could probably expect.*
Garvin (16), free train ride method; “I'm a ghost, now you see me, now you don't. I'm a ghost, every time you hit the phone.”
