Yep! The color can change, but it doesn't have to, it's based on preference. The material would change if someone was sensitive to gold or something, gold is generally a good material that doesn't bother a lot of people, but, say someone was allergic to the gold, then the material might change to silver or nickel. Hope that makes sense, lol
