Just like your usual corvids, he cannot see the colour yellow because of his tritanomaly (i.e. he's blue-yellow colourblind).

Appearance:
One could definitely describe Joschka as a scrawny 5"11 German-born boy with olive skin that seems to glow under the sun due to how pale he naturally is, seemingly unable to tan through natural means.

His nimble fingers are elongated and bony, followed by smokey black nails that are not only thicker but also sharper than what a regular teenage boy should have too.

He has disheveled shaggy brown hair that curls, wearing them like someone that just got out of bed in a rush without taking the time to look presentable would. The truth is that he just doesn't care enough to look presentable much when ot comes to that specific point. Also, one surprising thing about his hair is the light iridescent gleam that can sometimes be seen if one takes the time to look at it for a good minute, just like raven feathers.

Joschka's eyes are a very light and icy shade of blue that seems to shine with the glint a wild madman's eyes would, giving him a really distant and unsympathetic glare. They can, however, express a lot of emotions that he can struggle to put into into words and he would probably look less cold if he stopped squinting them so much all the time, trying to focus on very specific things around him.

Since he's German and doesn't speak a lot, he has a very noticeable accent and his "r" sound harsher than they should. However, he still doesn't sound really intimidating, his voice being soft and words too few to truly inimdate

This lanky teenage boy tends to usually wear upscale and cotton fabrics with minimal patterns. The brunette is also inclined to wear loose clothes, making it easier for him to get out of them when he fully shape-shift such as over-sized sweaters. If he intends to use his wings only, he will wear shirts with holes in the back so he can freely move them. On the top of that, Josh really appreciates wearing earrings that glint and simple shiny rings.

Talking about shapeshifting, he has the classical appearance of a crow which can be summarized as him being a large passerine bird (63 centimeters/25 inches), feathers all-black with a subtle iridescent glint but also a brown tone reminding his hair colour. If he only makes the wings appear, they're a good two meters long, neatly folded on his back and well-cared for. He needs to exercise them a lot to support his own weight when it comes to flying but his a bit shy about exposing them to others.

Personality:
Joschka does not only morph into a raven, he also mostly act like one. Indeed, he tends to use gestures to communicate instead of words, like pointing at objects he desires instead of saying it. The brunette has also taken a habit of collecting shiny objects he happens to find and it takes a lot of self-control from his part to not take something that belongs to another individual such as jewels, especially earrings and rocks. He also seems to be excessively good at remembering who has been nice to him through his life and will often try to find a way to pay their kindness back.

As someone who can shape-shift into a bird, he doesn't exactly speak to them per say but communication is nonetheless possible. This little detail can lead him to often seek the company of other ravens instead of human contact. It's not that he doesn't like people, it's simply easier when it comes to birds, you know?
Furthermore, it's also not a secret that he really enjoys spending time as a raven. His thought process his simpler and he gets to go to places he can't get access to as a teenage boy. Who wouldn't want to get a taste of such freedom.

As a gestural individual, he has always been better at showing than telling, offering shiny objects to people he likes and being clingy to the people he gets attached to, offering small touches and wanting to hold hands in a platonic way.

In conjunction to his impressive recollection of faces and his habit to pay kindness back, Josh also holds grudges. The brunette has indeed shown himself to easily remember people who did him good but he's even better at remembering the ones that did him wrong. Although he's not an asshole and won't go out of his way to make anyone's life a living hell. Yet, he won't hesitate to tell other crows and ravens about them. Which means that they shouldn't be surprised if those passerine birds start to annoy them from time to times or avoid them completely.

This bird boy isn't a very social person in the first place even though he feels fine hanging with people or stand in a crowd. Josh likes to do his own thing in a corner better but would probably not mind a bit of company from time to time either. He is not exactly a lone wolf but won't go out of his way to seek out companionship. He just shy with people one could say, having a hard time understanding them or their intentions and striking a conversation seems like a kind of difficult thing to do. He also barely able to show empathy, never been taught how. It's not in a mean way, he just has a really hard time putting himself in someone's shoes.

The brunette also likes music a lot, open to every and any genre but with a certain favoritism directed toward classical and acoustic songs. He himself likes playing and singing too but also genuinely enjoy hearing others perform their own things and won't hesitate to listen to them.

Additionally, Joschka also likes to hide in small spots for fun. It's just a little thing that makes him feel safe and can calm his nerves.
He's soft-spoken, never raising his voice, always trying to not leave too much of a bad impression and constantly trying to avoid useless conflicts as much as he can. He's alone one of those that tries to go with the flow, unable to lead a crowd or take any leading positions.

Yelling doesn't exactly terrify him but it does raise something close to a flight or fight response in his core. However, he adjusts quickly to loud noises even if the brunette can clearly express some sort of disdain to such things.

Backstory:
Joschka grew up in a small and wealthy family, being an only child in a household where discipline was very strict. Being emotional was frowning upon and your worth was mesured on what you could accomplish.

He was raised by overachievers and emotionally distant parents who preached success to an almost unhealthy way. He was barely allowed to leave the house and unless he was expected to do something, his presence in their domicile had to be almost nonexistent. Furthermore, if guests were to be at home, discretion was even more required from him unless he was to perform for them.

Displaying to any visitors his talent and passion for music was probably one of the few moments were his parents could be seen as proud of him. After all, those hours long music practice sessions weren't for nothing.

His mom would teach him how to play the piano while his father would take his time to teach him the violin. They wanted a prodigy, a multi-talented son who could not only show talent through academics but also art by being able to play multiple prestigious intruments. When it came to playing guitar, he was forced to learn by himself, his parents not convinced by such a 'simple' musical device.

Empathy and expressing emotions was not a common thing in the Schreiber household as mentionned earlier. His father was not a man you should argue with, twisting words and always making you seem like the one at fault. He couldn't stand being wrong or corrected. He taught his son that adults were always right. As for his mother, she would always mention how unmanly expressing feelings and showing empathy was. She expected her son to steer from that. He tried his best, he really did.

However, being rich as they were, his parents would always buy him gifts if they were being too intense in a sreaming match or if they crossed a line they limited themselves to.

Josh was homeschooled most of his life so it was a surprise to him that his parents sent his cadidature to such a prestigious school, far from home. It was even a bigger surprise that he was actually accepted.
