Although his shortened name is Teak, some may call him "Crook" behind his back. He is, after all, not particuarly beloved.

Teak never took a mate, though nobody could say why. Maybe he thinks nobody will take him seriously as a beta if he doesn't devote his whole life to the pack.

Character Description

Ironically for a wolf so fascinated with his starward anscestry, Teak's own pelt looks more like the bark of a tree than anything to do with the sky. He was named Teak because of the brown mottled look of his fur, which so resembles that kind of tree. His fur is a dark reddish-brown, with blackened streaks running across it like the details in wood. He has lighter highlights as well, only really visible when the light hits his fur. His fur is clumpier and longer than any normal wolf's, good for the winter but a bit of a bother during the summer. Only on the very top of his back and the edges of his ears can a faint trace of surprisingly bright yellow-green be seen. His eyes, meanwhile, are much more prominent and are the same color, a bit more yellow. Even his teeth are a bit yellow, as if common in a wolf. His nose is a dark brown that's nearly black. His snout is a bit shorter than the others', his paws bigger and legs thicker, obviously better built for fighting than for stealth. He's over four and a half feet long and about three feet tall. He has a faint scar or two, a natural side effect of living in the wild. Overall, his appearance really is quite a contrast to his personality. He looks brutish, salt-of-the-earth, and very wild. He does, however, keep himself very well-groomed and clean, even if his fur is a bit lumpy and inconsistent in places.

Character Personality

Teak would have nobody doubt his loyalty, to the point where others hate him for his extreme adherence to the rules and constant tattling to Stargazer on everyone. Everyone knows why he does it, of course. Ever since his sister turned on the idea of a blind obedience to Moon Chaser and left the pack, Teak's been mortified at the very notion that anyone would think the same of him. Any accusations of his disloyalty are sure to be met with an angry outburst from him. He has quite the temper, which he struggles to keep under control to maintain a more refined reputation. He'd do anything for Stargazer, no questions asked. But why? Is it because he's truly loyal, or to dispel rumors of his disloyalty? That's questionable.

Teak, of course, must also be an example to the others. He must be gracious, and tolerant, and fearless. He must be a gentleman to do good by the stars, and a warrior to do good by the pack. Teak never does anything without first considering what impact it will have, and he takes a long time to think things over. He does care about his packmates, but believes they don't always know what's best for them. Every wolf looks after the pack in their own way. Teak's way is just a little more tough-love. He never says how he feels, but he believes it's understood. He can lose his temper with them, though, and will never apologize for having hurting anyone's feelings.

But Teak isn't completely boring. If you catch him at the right moment, when he thinks nobody's watching, he can be found watching the stars with a faraway look on his face. He likes to think there's something greater than they could imagine up there, something waiting for them. As he puts his faith in Stargazer, so he puts his faith in Moon Chaser. Should the two ever come into conflict, he would be torn in two. But while his loyalty to Stargazer is questionable, his loyalty to Moon Chaser is something akin to reverence, almost a fear of what would happen if he ever thought the wrong thing.
