{Alakai Nevien||Dark elf||Illusion Ability}
“My names Caelan but you can call me Cae”
As swiftly as it was spoken, it curled around his mind about ten times, wrapping around his first impression so tightly until it eventually crumbled, shattering against the floor of his blank mind before vanishing like faint plumes of smoke. It left a confused and slightly intrigued Alakai who still bore his questioning gaze into those luminescent brown eyes which equally peered back at him. He blinked solemnly until his words were registered enough, prompting a very crude remark which tickled the back of his throat. Yet he swallowed it down, emitting a sigh instead to take its place. “Okay.”
“Okay?”
“Okay.”
Caelan stared at him through half closed eyes, for a moment, only the alluring glimmer of sunlight seeping through the cracked curtains was enough to break the tense silence, that is, until the kappa parted his lips in a gaping gasp. “I give you the honor of knowing my name and that's the only response you can muster up? I even put up curtains for you!” Alakai ripped his gaze from the beautiful violet curtains and directed his vision back towards the green creature, half expecting streaks of mascara to be carried down his cheeks by tears with how distraught he sounded. He sounds like he’s just got broken up with. “I didn’t ask for your curtains” He leveled his gaze with his, calmly dropping himself on the edge of his bed before then continuing to sift through his suitcase like nothing had happened.
Nothing did happen, just a queen being the embodiment of drama.
“No-” Caelan seemed to have cut himself short, eliciting an uncaring, inward shrug as Kai laid various articles of clothing onto his bed; but he heard the loud drop of shoes and before he could look up to see what the weirdo was doing, he felt long, slender fingers grasp his chin roughly and drag his face up to meet his. “I want an apology” His mousy brown eyes glimmered as if he were playing with a toy. His face shriveled in disgust and he slapped the males hands away with such power that it swung and hit Caelans waist, eventually falling limp at his side. “What the hell are you doing!?” It was the first time that day that Alakai had raised his voice, and as he calmly, but menacingly stood to his feet, Caelan flashed a look of triumph before shrinking back with false fear in his eyes.
I'm playing right into this guy's hands aren’t I? He sighed softly “Leave me to myself will you?” He was weird, and strangely unpredictable. Why did he have to have such a roommate? The crackling tension began to soothe as he turned back to his task, and his ear slightly twitched at the sound of the kappa finally settling himself, though he could tell he wasn’t pleased with how things ended. Just what was he trying to do?
The twinkle of light through the curtains continued to sweep the room with brightness, though it slightly deadened, signaling a nearing nightfall. By now, he was finished arranging things to his liking, slightly scooched dressers were decorated with the things he enjoyed most; plant life and just interesting gadgets or pieces he was yet to lose interest in. There was a giant poster coiled neatly at the bottom of his suitcase and it bore the faces of his family. Their purposefully ugly faces plastered on the flimsy piece, blared with unflattering light. He remembers his mother and the words that tumbled from her mouth as she handed the poster to him. “Hang it above your bed my child and never forget us. I know you will work hard, and when you succeed I expect a brand new house. This apartment is crumbling above our heads.”
When he received it he vowed to himself to never lay eyes on it again. Or maybe you just don’t want to crinkle it too much. Before another intrusive thought could summon up, there was a steady knock on the door and the peaceful looking body sprawled across the bed on the opposite side of the room immediately jolted awake; within seconds Caelan hopped towards the door with a cheerful smile but Kai still caught a dark glint in his eye. He must be excited to use his charm on some poor fool. “You both have been summoned for the greeting.”
As he strode smoothly down the stark white halls, figure bathed in the starry twilight from above, he felt the vexing kappa straying too close to his side. The male took long steps, similar to his, and his hair was drawn back in a long ponytail which trickled like a murky stream down his back Despite his good looks, Kai felt no different of him than before; just a snarky and oddly taunting male who takes pleasure in riling others up. Stifling an irritated groan as he felt Caelan brush his side, Alakai would pace forward, a quickened gait to distance himself from the pleased looking kappa. He followed the slender man's dancing figure, moving swiftly through every corridor and guiding them through unfamiliar faces and bodies so nimbly that he never had to brush past anyone in pursuit.
Brushing a strand of golden hair behind his ear, he’d slip through the jostling crowd of creatures and into the auditorium. The tall, slim man had vanished, and for a moment, he felt a flicker of disappointment. He had guided him when he first entered the extravagant building and now here. Would he ever come to guide him again? Before he could sulk for a second more, Caelan pushed past, releasing an excited chirp before sauntering towards a mingling bunch of creatures. For a moment, Kai thought to warn them, but then he remembered that he was self centered. Why should he warn competition? He wasn’t here to make friends.
Ripping his gaze from Caelan, he began to focus on the auditorium itself, wrapped in gorgeous interior and twinkling lights which were strung so high up that one would need magic to reach it. The ceiling was a dark scarlet, and two large, white pillars were extended on both sides of the consuming stage, and even between that there was a silky looking, magnificent drape that hung between them, its color equal to that of the ceiling. There was a vast expanse and although it was mostly swallowed by chairs, there was still space left which spread down the middle, sloped as stairs. And those stairs carried many bodies as they searched for the best seats. He too, soon began to take his first steps in the hunt for an adequate seat, the gentle shimmer of the fairy lights above softly illuminating the space with a gentle, comforting glow.
