Y'all know the drill, no posting unless you're Elaysia or me.

P l o t

Character A (Solar) has lived as an animal (species to be decided) their whole life. It's not really the worst life, it has it's ups and downs, but most importantly it's their life. As an animal. Until a scientist decides that their the perfect subject to test their new invention on. Clearly they didn't think this through, because now they've got a once-animal-now-human on their hands and they're supposed to be leaving the country soon. Since turning them back maay take a little longer than expected they've decided to pass on the responsibilty to someone else. So, introducing Character B (Elaysia) who's job is to teach A how to be a perfectly functioning member of society...as a human.

Name

Ajax (A.J.) Dyer

Age

19 years

Gender

Male

Sexuality

Straight

Appearance

Ajax is around average height for the typical caucasian male, standing in around 5 foot 10 inches. As mentioned before, his skin is naturally fair, but due to spending much of his time outdoors, it has tanned to a nice light golden-brown.

His chest and shouders are fairly broad, and his entire body is covered in strong lean muscle. His chest, shoulders, and torso are all sharply defined, as well as his jaw. His features some describe as "sculpted" or "cut by glass", because they are sharp yet somehow still very appealing to the eye for most. Ajax's hair is a very dark brown, with small hints of amber. It is slightly wavy and towards the ends even just a tad curly. He keeps it cut semi long, meaning that there isn't enough hair to pull back into a tie, but it always appears like he is on the verge of needing a haircut. The sides are cut slightly shorter than the top, and it is common for some of the longer hair to fall over his forehead and into his eyes. Another way to describe this style is the "I just rolled out of bed" look, appearing slightly messy but somehow still stylish.

He has a small and nearly invisible scar just below his nose on the right side of his upper lip, the result of a small mishap as a child. He has a slightly larger and more visible scar above his left eye, cutting slightly into his eyebrow, and various deep and large scars on his chest and forearms due to a dog attack when he was young. His eyes are a deep brown with swirls of amber and flecks of gold and speckles of forest green in the right light.

Accessories

Ajax, when alone in the dorm or with close friends not in public, usually can be seen in a T-shirt and sweats, sometimes on rare occassion in baggy shorts similar to those one would wear in basketball. But when out in public or in class, he is often stereotyped as a "greaser" or "biker," even though he is neither. These comments come because he is often seen in a white, black, grey, or dark colored T-shirt with a slick and rather stylish black leather jacket draped over the top.

His legs are often covered by tight or skinny jeans, more often than not ripped fashionably at the knees. He is seen every day in converse or regular tennis shoes, usually dark in color with the occasional splash of white.

His right arm and shoulder is decorated with a black tattoo sleeve, a complex and haunting design that most would associate with a goth or biker. Three skulls stacked atop one another, the bottom one biggest, and the top one smallest. His wrist is the bottom of the tattoo, which is a bed of roses in which the biggest skull sits. The thorns spread into vines that crawl up onto the middle skull. The smallest skull sits atop that, with a snake slithering out of the right eye socket, its head raised and fangs exposed, venom dripping slightly off the tip. From there spirals and lines made to look like thorny vines crawl up to his shoulder to end the piece.

Ajax can be seen sometimes with a necklace, the string black and thin, with a bear claw as the pendent, but he doesn't wear it often, and it spends most of its days by his bedside. His right ear is pierced with three small silver rings along the edge of his ear, and on his left hand a couple rings can be seen sometimes.

Personality

Ajax is a whirlwind of personality, but not in the way you might think. He puts out a pretty edgy vibe, and most would consider him to be just that. Edgy. But...he isn't.

Ajax is friendly towards a lot of people, and he has a good friend group. He is outgoing in some things, and is very athleticly toned. But he doesn't make a lot of friends with people who aren't like him. Most of his friend group is made up of people like him. Guys who are into sports, who work out, who are lovers of anything he is. He can't seem to make many friends outside of that group. He is into archery, and learned to do such a thing at a fairly young age.

Ajax is a powerful physical fighter, and not a force you want to reckon yourself with. He is also handy with guns and an assortment of other weapons if his body shall ever fail him. He is a fierce protector of anyone he calls a friend, and will not hesitate to fight. He can be quite hot headed and easily anger, as well as having a very arrogant aura about him. If he thinks he is right about something he will fight you on it till you give up.

He is determined in everything he does, even academics. Ajax is known to be quite snippy and sarcastic, especially around females. Many say he is sexist, which is untrue, but he doesn't help himself any to try and disprove that theory. He is single and isn't looking for any romantic relationship at all, although a special person may work thier way into his heart.

Despite all of these flaws, he does have a heart. He tries not to give in to it much, because he doesn't want to be hurt. He puts on a tough exterior, and has always lived by his own rules. His way or no way. But that one day is bound to change. He does have a soft spot for others, but it's hard to find, and hard to expose in any way.

Although he doesn't actively pursue a relationship, he does engage in casual sexual activity, which is a selfish sin that he wants to put an end to. He can often be seen at parties, and more often than not can be seen making mistakes at those very parties.

All in all, he's a guy who makes mistakes, but with the right mindset, he can be better.

Name

Dog

Age

It’s impossible to tell her exact age but she appears to be around 18 when human

Gender

Female

Sexuality

Straight

Appearance

Canine

Dog is quite the mutt. She has no specific features that could enable you to pinpoint her exact breeds, nothing that really stands out about her, she’s just…there. She’s of a medium size, though a bit on the smaller end of the scale and dark brown fur covers her extremely skinny frame. It doesn’t look that long, but if you felt it your fingers would sink into a thick blanket. If you looked at her skin, you’d be surprised at the complete plainness of her fur, as her skin is mottled with light patches as if she was supposed to have patches of light fur on her body but somehow managed to skip over that. Really there’s nothing special about her, she’s just your average street dog, something which has come to help her in the long run when attempting to avoid angry people. The only identifiable feature about her is the fact that one of her front teeth is missing, giving her a little less punch in her already weak bite. Of course, being a stray her whole life has led to a skinny but lithe build, speed and agility being her main strengths.

Human

As a human, Dog stands out much more than as a dog. She’s quite short, standing at around 5’1 but strangely enough she doesn’t look as skinny as she does as a dog, more just, average. Her lithe build is more prominent as well, aided by the presence of a bit more fat than normal.

Her hair is the same colour as her fur, a dark brown that falls to just below shoulder length in naturally neat ringlets. Her features are still quite average, a button nose perched neatly between two cognac brown, round eyes. An overall soft-lined face. However none of that is what anyone would remember about her, for those patches of light skin have made their appearance in the form of vitiligo. Without it, her skin would be a perfect blend of dark and light, a warm milk chocolate in colour. With it, she somehow manages to disrupt and set the eye at rest. And with the absence of fur, her scars show as well. They’re everywhere, above an eyebrow, across her chest, scattered around her arms and legs. Most prominent is the scar that goes diagonally across her thigh, and the one stretched over her palm. The latter is the only scar that causes her pain, being the most recent and in one of the most sensitive places.

And of course, she has a gap between her two front teeth, somehow it translated to that instead of a missing tooth when she was transformed. Not that you’d catch her complaining, she seems to find it adorable.

Personality

Dog is somehow one of the friendliest and one of the most closed off people you’ll ever meet. Surviving purely off of the logic of being sweet, she’s an expert in getting precisely what she wants without you even realising it. She is a naturally kind, gentle and open creature, but a lifetime of living on the streets can close anyone up, including her. When she wants to, she can lie superbly, though this is mainly used either as a way to invoke a sense of trust in her or to get her way out of a tricky situation.

She is a bit of an overthinker, but thankfully she can normally manage to hide this trait with a bit of good old fashioned ‘hm’ing. Seeing as she’s quite weak, Dog tries her best to not get into any fights as her only chance of winning is if she tired out her opponent, and she doubts she’d be able to avoid getting caught for that long. Once she becomes a bit more comfortable around someone, that…doesn’t change. It’s a deeply engrained behaviour, and thanks to this she’s developed almost a fear of any sort of violence, even if it isn’t directed at her.

She’s quite flexible in her opinions, bending her beliefs to fit the situation and company she’s in. Due to this she doesn’t have any real beliefs of her own, it enables her to not ever slip up and reveal how she truly feels about something because she just believes whatever she’s believing at the time. Dog is your classic expert manipulator, so good she can even manipulate herself.

She seems quite friendly, sweet and focused when you first meet, but the majority of what she says is bound to be a lie, and she always seems to be running from something, which often turns out to be her very own mind. She never stays in one place for too long unlike other stray dogs, meaning that she’s surprisingly uncomfortable with the idea of making friends and truly trusting others despite how open and friendly she seems. Though she tries to maintain a positive outlook on life, her overthinking quite often leads to extremely negative comments and sometimes reckless behaviour with no explanation afterwards. That is her final flaw, the inability to explain.

It was mid evening, and Ajax lay quietly draped across his dorm room bed, a book in hand. His feet were bare, a pair of grey sweatpants lined his legs, and a plain white tee covered his chest. His days were fairly simple, his credit hours narrowed down to 12. All his classes were in the morning and afternoon, so is evenings were almost always free. His roommate Michael however, often took evening classes.

Michael was a nerd, but he was a brilliant science student, and with the technology the world today supplied...Michael was able to accomplish most of what he set his mind to. He was a billionaire in the making for sure, and Ajax found himself at times jealous of his friend. However, even though the two were pretty much complete opposites when it came to most things, Ajax found Michael's presence tolerable. He was funny and kind, and he didn't put up with any of the shit Ajax laid down. Plus, he liked seeing and hearing about whatever Michael came home rambling on about and showing him what he'd created. It was always something interesting.

This evening however....well...it definitely would be interesting.

Ajax could hear footsteps outside the door, and because no one else but he and Michael stayed in this room, he knew it was him. But there sounded like almost another set of footsprints along with his. A sort of dragging stepping sound, as if whatever or whoever was with him couldn't walk properly or well at all. Ajax stayed put on his bed, but set the book quietly down, his deep brown eyes fixated on the door.

He heard the key card, and then the door swung open to reveal Michael's face...and someone else's. Ajax sat up quickly, throwing his legs over the side of the bed in a position that hinted at him standing soon. Michael's face looked completely worn and exhausted, his black hair messy and his electric blue eyes wide but yet sunken in, as if he hadn't slept in days. Even though he'd gotten plenty of sleep the night before. At least...Ajax thought he had.

"Mike?" Ajax questioned hesitantly, getting to his feet. He walked cautiously over to the doorway.

"A.J," Michael said, his entire body trembling ever so slightly. With excitement or fear...he couldn't tell. Michael was propping up in his arms a girl who Ajax had never in his life seen before, her appearance rather ragged, her clothes oversized and big. In fact...they looked like MICHAEL'S clothes. The girl seemed to be around their age, but it was hard to tell.

"What in fuck's sake..." Ajax mumbled, reaching out his arms to help his friend. Michael stumbled in with the strange homeless looking girl, her feet kind of dragging across the floor rather than taking actual steps. "Mike, who is this? What did you do? Aren't you supposed to be gone by now?"

"Here," he said hurriedly, dumping her fully into Ajax's arms. He stumbled back a couple steps with her weight, but she wasn't really all that heavy. Michael shut the door behind him and hurriedly walked back over, helping distribute her body between the two of them.

"Yes, I really really should be at the airport by now." he answered quickly. "But I need to explain this first, I really need you to do this for me. I made a huge mistake and it will take me more time than I thought to fix it. I'll have to do it when I get back."

"What are talking about?" Ajax demanded, his patience running out.

"I found a dog," he blurted. "On the streets. Ragged thing. Brought it to my spot, and...tried to..."

"Shit!" Ajax exclaimed. Michael had been trying this experiment for years, desperately searching for ways to make it possible. What if an animal could be turned human? Then back again?

"I did it. I made her human." he swallowed. "But...I can't turn her back. Nothing's working. I thought it'd be quick but it wasn't."

"What do you want me to do about it?!" he scolded.

"I need you to keep her here. Watch her. Help her. Make her normal. Please. Please. She has to fit in at least a little here, who knows how much trouble I could get in for this. Please A.J. Please."

After much arguing back and forth, voices raised, Ajax finally agreed. How he was going to do it? He didn't know. Michael thanked him, told him what she already knew, and left for his flight, and once the door was safely shut behind him, Ajax helped shuffle this girl over to Michael's bed. He helped her sit down, but not very gently, then popped a squat on the floor in front of her, his arms draped over his knees. His deep brown eyes looked her over, and he couldn't get over the odd pattern all over her skin, and the hundreds of scars that lined her entire visible body.

Her hair was brown, but a complete mess, and he soon discovered with some thought that the patches on her skin was vitigilo, a fairly rare skin condition. She looked exactly like a human version of a stinky old mutt that had come right off the streets. She didn't smell the greatest either, and he knew he'd have to clean her up somehow. But there was no way he was going to bathe her. No way.

First thing was first though...what was her name? Did she have a name? Did she know it? Michael had said she knew the basic words, and could form sentences. He'd brought her into existence early this morning, and being the brilliant student he was...had taught her to speak so much so quickly. But Ajax wasn't sure if she had a name. Michael hadn't said anything about that.

"Hey," he said after a moment. "What's your name?" He spoke relatively slowly and deliberately, but his tone came out kind of harsh and commanding, annoyance slipping through.

Dog

It had been a rather confusing day.

It started off as normal, Dog had been in one place for way too long and it was time to move on. She’d remained a little longer than normal, seeing as she’d somehow won the affections of a butcher who provided her with all the scraps she could spare and it was giving her at least two square meals a day. As she’d looked around the little alley she’d made her home for the time being she thought with a mental sigh that she’d probably miss this place. It was the first time in a while that she’d left a place of her own accord instead of being chased off, and she was beginning to wonder if maybe she could stay until she was chased off. But no, her mind was already racing with hundreds of disasters that could happen if she stayed. What if there was a flood? What if the butcher died? What if she got struck by lightning? What if she got stuck in a bin, those bin men came and she got squashed in their truck with the giant teeth? What if she got stuck in cement and starved to death? What if she was caught and sent to the pound?

With a little shake, she’d got ready to leave, poking her head out of the alleyway to make sure nothing bad was coming and then trotting off. Not many people would stop to look at a stray dog, they were everywhere nowadays and humans didn’t seem to think of anything but themselves anyways. So she’d gone on her way, occasionally darting into a doorway to avoid the odd chihuahua but other than that her journey was uneventful.

Then she’d gotten hungry.

And then she’d spotted the guy with what looked and smelt like something edible.

And then he’d noticed her.

She didn’t really remember what had happened next, he’d given her some of whatever it was and then he’d whisked her away. Somewhere along the way, her memory stopped, replaced by just a blank space. She must have fallen asleep, but she hadn’t been tired. She’d realised where she was pretty quickly, some sort of room, dressed in some weird fabric that restricted her movements. She’d tried to walk, then she’d realised that it was extremely uncomfortable to walk how she normally did. And then she’d realised that she wasn’t a dog any longer.

It was kind of fun learning how to speak human, even though at first the guy had seemed panicked about something she didn’t understand. Somehow he’d known her name, Dog, but he’d added that strange word they sometimes called her in front of it. Stray Dog. Everything else he’d said had been meaningless garble, which at some point she’d tried to imitate. Maybe she’d done it well or botched it completely, but he’d seemed surprised.

He’d panicked again, and then she’d been forced to walk the human way down some weird corridors before being passed onto a new man. Whoever he was, throughout the whole process she’d remained calm and bright, sticking with the philosophy that hadn’t killed her yet. If she was calm and sweet, there was no reason to get mad at her and maybe they’d make her Dog again if she cooperated.

The new man had plonked her down on the floor, and she’d struggled to sit down in a comfortable position before settling with sitting upright on her knees. It wasn’t what she was used to, but it was comfy and that was all that mattered. Glancing down at her skin for the umpteenth time today, Dog glanced back up when new man spoke. It took her a moment to process what he’d said and make it into something she understood but quickly she realised that he was asking what her name was.

Her eyebrows furrowed as she opened her mouth, struggling to remember how to say it, but finally getting the word out. “Dog.” Her tone was bright, glancing around in interest as if nothing had happened at all. What she was in must be new man’s home, the other room being guy’s home. What had guy called himself again? Again, she frowned in concentration before remembering. Lifting a hand, she pointed to the door guy had went out of, tilting her head slightly. “Michael?” That was his name right? Had Michael mentioned this guy’s name? She knew it wouldn’t be the same, mother had mentioned that when she was young. However much she tried to think, nothing came up. But she needed to know his name, didn’t she? She transferred her point to new man, trying to think of how to ask for his name.

She could replicate the sounds he’d made couldn’t she? “What’s your name?”

She hadn’t yet grasped the concept of tone and conveying emotions without the use of ears and a tail so new man’s annoyance completely slipped past her, her point eventually dropping as she waited for a response, mind racing for ways to show that she was friendly. She had no tail, how was she supposed to communicate?

Ajax watched as she struggled to adjust to a comfortable position, and finally ended up sitting on her knees. It was a position in which many young kids sat in, but most people their ages wouldn't because it would be uncomfortable. But maybe it wasn't uncomfortable for her. He watched her curiously, his brows furrowed in an annoyed manner, but still curious. She seemed to be either admiring or just observing the way her skin looked, and it seemed almost impossible to catch her attention.

But finally, she looked up as he spoke. Her brows furrowed too, but in more of a concentrated look rather than annoyance. That's when he noticed the gap between her teeth, and that sparked a curiousity in his mind. What had she looked like as a dog? Was her fur patched? Or just the skin beneath it, since her hair was just brown? Did she have a missing tooth as a canine, or was a dog capable of actually having a gap between teeth like humans?

She spoke, and at first it didn't register to Ajax that she'd spoken her name. "Dog?" he repeated slowly, almost completely dumbfounded. He right away felt stupid. Of course she wouldn't have a name. Michael had found her off the streets, she was a stray with no home. She wouldn't know a name if she heard it. That thought though was wiped out of his mind as she pointed towards the door and spoke Michael's name.

She understands the concept. he thought, sitting back a little, his muscles relaxing. Maybe this would be easier than he thought it would be. She then repeated his question back to him, and he tilted his head to the side. "Ajax." he answered slowly, placing a hand on his chest and tapping it so she would associate his name to his body and face.

"My name is Ajax." He sat there in silence for a moment longer, just looking at her. She was such a ragged mess, and she didn't smell the greatest. He didn't want Michael to come home to a dirty bed, so he stood up quickly and walked over to the small dresser the two young men shared. Michael had a girlfriend of a few months, and sometimes she kept her stuff stashed her for when she snuck in for the night.

He dug around in one of the drawers, and found a perfume bottle of hers. He took off the little plastic cap and sniffed the nozzle. It smelled like flowers of some sort, but he couldn't be sure. Of course there was a label, but he wasn't going to take even a second to read it. He walked back over to where the strange girl was sitting, and sat back down in front of her.

"Look," he said, lifting it up a little. He sprayed a bit into the air beside him, so she could see that it was harmless, and wafted a bit in her direction to let her smell. "Perfume." he spoke, pointing at the small bottle. He didn't want to just turn his hand on her and spray her, because it might scare her, so he did something he never thought he would do. He hesitated just briefly before turning the nozzle on himself and spritzing some of the liquid on him.

"See?" he said. "Harmless." He then slowly turned it towards her and spritzed her a couple of times. When he was done, he set the bottle on the floor a few feet away and put his hands in his lap, looking at her once more. "You need a name, you know." he said. A small smile graced his lips, a sort of mocking one. "Dog." he said a bit sarcastically. He sucked in a breath and tilted his head back, closing his eyes and thinking. His fingers tapped the floor to a rhythem he was making up in his head, and after a moment he looked back at her.

"Okay," he said. "Dog. Dog, dog, dog..." he squinted a bit, still thinking. "Holly?" he tried, spitting out a simple yet nice sounding name. "Blair? Lila? Piper?" He was just listing off random names and trying to gauge her reaction. "Mei?" he asked finally. She seemed to like that one, and he nodded. "Mei it is then." He knew at some point that he would need to teach her how to bathe or shower, but in all honesty he was a little scared to do so. If he left her in there alone, who knew what all she would get into? Or possibly break? But he didn't want to be in there with her either for lack of privacy. However there was a curtain...maybe if he showed her what to do and where things were he could sit in there and answer any questions she had throughout.

Maybe.

Maybe.

It was a possibility for sure. She needed it done at some point in time, and that time would be relatively soon. He took a deep breath and stood up, realizing that she must be thirsty. Or hungry. Or both. He walked smoothly over to the small kitchen area of the dorm, and filled up a glass of water for her. He walked back over to her and handed her the glass.

"Water." he said, tapping it lightly. "To drink." He made the motion of drinking with his hand, hoping she would catch on. After a moment he asked,

"Are you hungry? Do you want to eat?"

Dog tried to keep her focus on new man, but it was hard when surrounded by all these new things. She’d never been in a room before, she’d lived on the streets her whole life and the closest she’d ever came to going into a house was darting in doorways to avoid dangers. She didn’t think that counted. She tried going over the things Michael had taught her, hoping that new man wouldn’t ask her anything she couldn’t answer or didn’t understand. It was a pity neither man could speak canine, she’d learn human so much faster if they did.

Being a human was much weirder than she’d expected it to be, but she wasn’t really upset about it. Maybe it could be a fun experience before she moved on, it would be something she could brag about if anybody ever asked. It wasn’t that hard, being human, although she still hadn’t gotten a grasp on walking. All her weight was on her legs, rather than being distributed on all four limbs. And she was so much taller! Granted, she wasn’t exactly sure how tall humans were supposed to be, both men being taller than her, but even if she was short for a human she was tall for a dog.

New man repeated her name as a question, causing her to look back at him and nod. Was he trying to tell her something? Or was her name odd to him? She hadn’t chosen it herself, it was just what all the humans had called her whether they were friendly or not, and she’d just assumed that they had named her. It never occurred to her that they called all dogs Dog, for she rarely was with canine company. Being with other dogs meant having to find an equal amount of food for each of you, something she didn’t have to worry about when just being fed the scraps from a butcher or fishmonger or even baker. It was just easier to be on her own foodwise, though sometimes she required canine company to keep her safe. She wasn’t a fighter after all.

New man spoke again, saying something which she quickly recognised was his name. It was easier to pronounce than Michael was, being shorter with repeating sounds rather than different sounds and a longer name. “Ajax.” She repeated it slowly, hoping that she’d said it correctly and not completely messed it up. After saying his name, Ajax got up and took something from a chest of drawers that she hadn’t even noticed was there. Leaning forwards in interest, she watched as he called it ‘perfume’ then shot something into the air from it. Was she supposed to smell it? She couldn’t see it or hear it so it was either smell or taste. Another thing about being human was that she noticed a whole new range of colours, her eyesight being much better than before but her sense of smell dulling. She could smell this though, and a quick sniff told her that this was not meant to be eaten. Even if it was, it would taste disgusting.

She tried to keep from flinching as he sprayed it at her, looking down at herself and lifting her arm to sniff it. She smelt different now, not like Dog anymore. She wondered if smelling like Dog was bad, is that why he’d shot it at her? With another sniff, she lowered her arm then watched as Ajax sat back down. She frowned a bit in confusion when he spoke again. She needed a name? She already had one. Dog. And then he just kept repeating her name. What was he trying to achieve?

It was only when he began to list off other names that she realised. Dog was a dog name, not a human name. And then it clicked, Dog wasn’t even a name. Dog was just the name of her species, not a name that had been given to her. Being a human was really opening up her eyes. So now she actually needed a name. The names he was listing didn’t really appeal to her until he got to the last one. She liked it, it was short and very easy to pronounce. Like Dog. She nodded, mind racing to think of ways to show she was pleased. Maybe she should let her face just move instinctively, it was how she had frowned, maybe it would come up with a way to show her pleasure.

Slowly, she repeated the name, smiling slightly as she looked back up at Ajax. “Mei.” She liked how it sounded when it came from her, she had a different voice than Michael or Ajax and though it kind of annoyed her that she stood out so much, she had to admit that she preferred how she sounded than how they did.

She glanced around in interest once more when Ajax left, gaze landing on the perfume bottle on the floor several feet away. She supposed that she couldn’t go get it, it would be too much effort, and as she looked up she realised that Ajax was back already, solving the problem for her. She smiled slightly in amusement when he tried to tell her what water was, she knew what it was, she just didn’t know what it was in. Regardless, she nodded as she accepted it. “I know.” Looking at it for a moment, Mei tried to understand how on earth humans drank. She tried lapping it up like she normally did, but it was hard and uncomfortable so she stopped. How did humans drink from this stuff? Holding the glass out to him, a confused frown alighted on her brow. “How?”

At the mention of eating, Mei brightened, nodding quickly to show that she wanted food. It was rather a stupid question, she’d eat whatever she could get, whenever she got it. You could never be sure when your next meal was, and she was slightly excited to see if they ate their food in weird things like they drank their water in. How did they confirm stuff in language again? She’d been taught this hadn’t she?

“Yes.”

Ajax nodded as she slowly repeated his name. "Yes." he said, confirming that she was correct. "Yes, good." After he sprayed her with the perfume, she lifted her arm and sniffed it, which nearly made his own eyes water just thinking about it. The smell was already strong in the air, but she was putting her nose right up next to it. It took him a moment to realize that her smell wasn't as strong as it had been as a dog, so this was probably nothing for her.

It was odd, how that worked. He hoped she didn't do that with everything or she could potentially pass out. That is, if she stuck her nose right up next to a smell that was strong enough to do that. Like gasoline or something.

She quickly dismissed a lot of the names he put out, but finally, she seemed to like Mei. Once it was decided, she said it, and he nodded.

When he brought her the water, he felt the heat of the slight blush that covered his cheeks in embarassment as she told him she already knew. Of course she would know what water was, how big of an idiot did he think she was? She had to know what water was in order to survive as long as she did. He furrowed his brows at her as she tried to lap it up out of the cup. His annoyance was evident, because he was tired. He had been enjoying his evening free of studies, reading peacefully on his bed until Michael had to barge in with a completely horrid experiment. Why on earth had he tried it? How many times had he tried before? Was he just willy nilly killing animals trying to get this to happen?

Whatever his methods, it had finally worked. While Ajax was proud of him for it, he was heavily annoyed and slightly angry at his friend for dumping his little experiment completely onto him. Now it was completely up to Ajax to make this monstrosity of a creation function normally in society. How on earth was he supposed to do that?

She held out the glass to him, a confused expression on her face.

"How?" she asked. He sighed, rubbing his face. He'd made the gesture to her upon giving her the glass, but of course she wouldn't know what that meant. He slowly took the glass from her hand, debating on how to show her. Should he tip the glass towards her own lips and let her figure it out? But then he was afraid she wouldn't know what to do and spill it all over the front of herself. So with a quick annoyed glance at the rim of the glass, he pushed back the thought of her trying to lap it up, and used the opposite side to raise it up to his own lips and take a small drink.

He wasn't a germaphobe, so it didn't bother him too much, but if he thought about it too long it made his stomach squirm. He hoped by demonstrating, she would get a bigger understanding. He handed it back to her, gently held the rim to her lips, and tilted the glass upwards, the clear liquid running into her mouth. When she got the hang of it, he let go completely, letting her do it.

She seemed excited at the mention of food, and she said yes, confirming that. "Alright then," he said, standing up. He held out his hands to her so he could help her to her feet. She was definitely a bit wobbly, but he had hope that her walking would improve. He slowly walked her over to the kitchen area, and let her lean on the small counter while he walked around to the fridge.

"This is where a lot of the food is," he told her. He didn't know what she would eat, probably meat, but they didn't have much left. He thought about making her a sandwich of sorts, but came to realize they had no bread. So he dug around until he found some leftover mac and cheese in a small plastic dish. He wouldn't be eating it anytime soon, and Michael was gone, so...it was hers now.

It wasn't old at all, it had only been in the fridge for a day. He grabbed a bowl and spoon, and dished out the food into the bowl. He then brought it over to the microwave and opened the door. Setting the bowl inside, he started up the microwave, the familiar and semi loud humming sound filling the kitchen area. "This heats it up," he said. "It's better to eat that way."

Mei tried one more time to figure out how to drink, but it was just too confusing for her. Why was it so tall? What was it even in? As she waited for a response to her question, she began to debate holding the glass out towards him, what if he took it from her and never gave it back? She wasn’t thirsty yet but what if that was her one chance to get water and she was giving it away? Her grip tightened on the glass, though she didn’t bring it back towards her chest for some reason.

She glanced back up at Ajax, for the first time putting an emotion to the expression on his face. She could tell when people were angry at her when it was that evident, when that was on their face they often chased her away or sometimes threw things at her. Whatever they did it was never good. Not wanting to run away at the risk of losing the water, Mei racked her brains for a way to calm him down and prevent him from getting too angry as she slowly scooted away from him, just extending her arms to make sure he could still get the water when he wanted it.

When he finally moved forward to get the glass, Mei held onto it for as long as she could, instincts taking over until she was overpowered and the glass snatched from her grasp. She appeared worried, slowly moving forward and hands lifting then being placed down constantly as if having to force herself not to just grab the glass and run. She didn’t want to be left with no water, she’d need to drink eventually even if she wasn’t thirsty now.

She was curious though, and when he began to drink, Mei stopped her movements and just watched him, eyes widening in understanding as she finally realised what he had meant with that strange movement when she had been handed the water. Almost like a toddler reaching forward to grab a toy, she stretched out her arms in pleading for the glass, hoping that he would return it to her and not just take it for himself. A smile spread across her face as he returned it to her, helpfully guiding her until she got complete hang of how to drink from whatever this strange object was.

As she drank, she realised with a start that she was actually extremely thirsty and so she finished off the water quite quickly, hesitating for a moment before leaning down and putting the glass on the floor like she’d seen Ajax put the perfume bottle down.

Mei was still quite unsteady, but with Ajax supporting her she could move relatively well, and her struggles in movement completely vanished from her mind when she was shown into the kitchen area. As Dog she would’ve been able to smell all the food no problem, but she was a human with a dull little nose so all she could really smell was the faint but lingering scent of the perfume that had cloaked itself onto both humans.

She realised only when it was opened that the giant metal block was what stored the food, and a grin spread across her face as Ajax got something from it. This had to be what she could eat, though it didn’t look like meat at all. He put the bowl into another box, causing Mei to step forward and look at it in interest. Would it give the food back or was it trapped? Tilting her head, she moved even closer to it trying to figure out what it was. According to him, this box heated up the food, which apparently made it better but the concept was still alien to her.

She could hear some faint beeping sounds as he pushed a few buttons, and then she leapt back in alarm as a loud humming filled the kitchen. Falling over without the support of the counter, Mei scooted away, sounds not unlike whimpering coming from her mouth as her whole body began to shake in panic. Why was it making that noise? He hadn’t warned her about a noise. She hated it, why was it so loud? After she had gone a suitable distance, Mei brought her knees to her chest and buried her face in them, trying to calm her shaking.

She just wanted the noise to stop.

Ajax was quickly growing more and more annoyed with her. She wanted to know how to drink, didn't she? So why was she holding on so tight to the glass? Why wouldn't she let him have it? Finally, her grip loosened, and he was able to show her what to do, but even as he was doing so he spotted her hands lifting and falling back again, as if she was regretting handing it to him, as if she wanted it back.

When he handed the glass back to her, she grinned, revealing the gap between her teeth. He guided her and then promptly watched as she drank the entire glass. She must have been a lot thirstier than he had previously thought she was. He knew right away that she was quite observant, for she paused briefly in thought before mimicking the motion he'd done before with the perfume bottle, setting the glass slowly on the floor.

When he pulled her up, her unsteadiness nearly caused him to falter, but he righted himself and even though her steps weren't completely steady, they weren't awful either. She made it to the kitchen okay, and he supposed that was all that mattered.

As he pressed the buttons on the microwave, he could see the genuine curiousity in her eyes, and the tilting movement of her head. She moved closer, removing her grip from the counter and standing somewhat near Ajax himself, observing the microwave as he pushed in the time to be heated. It hadn't even registered to him that a thing like this would scare her until it was too late. The second the microwave began to heat, she fell to the floor in surprise and fear, the counter no longer there to give her support.

She whimpered, scooting along the floor and backing away from him. When she'd fallen he'd let out a surprised yell and leaped backwards a little towards the cabinets, taken completely by shock and surprise at her so sudden and frightened reaction.

"Shit!" he exclaimed, placing his hands on the counter for support, his deep brown eyes widened as he watched her flail about on the floor. His dark hair fell briefly in front of his eyes, causing him to swipe it swiftly aside. Mei pulled her knees to her chest and buried her face in them, her body shaking involuntarily.

He let her just sit there for a moment, in fact he stayed where he was and let her shiver until the microwave beeped, signaling that the food was done. He shot a glance over at the small machine, and let out a sigh. He somewhat aggressively opened the door and pulled out the bowl, setting it kind of harshly on the counter before making his way over to Mei.

"Come on, get up." he said, his voice quiet but laced with an annoyed and commanding tone. "Shit, girl you're gonna have to get used to that sound if you're gonna live here." he told her. He grabbed her arms and strongly hoisted her to her feet, stabling her as best as he could and walking her a few feet towards the counter before letting go and making her go the rest of the way herself. She couldn't lean on him forever, she needed to learn to walk normally.

"That's a microwave, darling." he said mockingly, using the term 'darling' as more of a derogatory one than anything else. "It heats up the food so stuff like this tastes better. It makes that sound every time it's used, so you better get used to it, alright?!" He sounded harsh, fed up, and irritated as he scolded her, but he didn't much care. It had taken his tired body and mind by complete surprise, which resulted in anger and annoyance.

He sighed, running a hand through his hair and scooting the bowl of mac and cheese towards her. He turned around to grab a fork, and stuck it in the bowl. It then came to him that she'd have no idea how to use that, either, so he'd hae to show her that too. Irritated, he grabbed a second fork and laid it on the table in front of him.

"Okay," he said, letting out a breath. "This is a fork." he said, tapping the small metal utensil. "You use it to eat with, or else you're going to get really messy." He picked it up to demonstrate, sticking a bit of food onto the fork and taking a bite. "Like that." he said, swallowing. He pushed the bowl a little more towards her and nodded, his voice more calm now than before, the shock of her frightened reaction wearing off.

He took a deep breath and let it out, feeling more and more drowsy. He hoped she would learn this stuff quickly, because it was exhausting having to teach so many simple things.
