Astrid, although always cheerful, knew when to be a bit serious. Of course, this was definitely one of those times. One of the reasons being that they could be discovering something that could potentially free Nathaniel from his home-prison, and the second being that she had no idea what she was walking into. For all she knew, the floor could cave in beneath her and she'd... you know... splat. So Astrid grew a bit serious as they trekked up the stairs (avoiding any holes that Nathaniel with his hovering wasn't bothered by) and grew quiet. Once they arrived, Beans nodded and looked at the hole. It looked just big enough for her to squeeze through, hopefully it didn't collapse on her or something like that while she was going through. "Well then it's up to me to go in and see what I can find huh?" Astrid gave Nathaniel an encouraging smile before lowering herself in front of the hole. She couldn't see much, and she was more concerned with making it through than looking at the room itself. Astrid turned to Nathaniel one last time, and said, "I'll be back in a second then." Before climbing in to the hole. The light was relatively dim, and she was relieved when she finally made it to the other side, hopping out but being careful not to stand on any rotted floor.

Nathaniel peered through the hole as well, watching Astrid carefully. Although when he looked away he would have no memory of this, he could still make sure Astrid stayed safe. As he looked around, Nathaniel tried to reach back in his memories to when he had been alive. He could almost picture what the room had looked like before, and how... hmm. How odd... Nathaniel shifted around, even though his form could not get uncomfortable, "Astrid. Check, on this left wall, that loose stone near the bottom corner." He had an, albeit vague, memory of when the two of them were little, hiding their secrets in a little nook in Christian's room. That was when the two were the best of friends, before Christian had apparently grown cold and angry. Nathaniel could not see any other place in the room that could hide his plans so well, where no one was able to find them for all of these years.

Light barely filtered into the deserted room, and it took Astrid's eyes a moment to adjust, not moving just in case she missed a hole or two in the floor. Astrid sucked in a sharp breath as she just narrowely skirted around a rather large hole. The air was dusty, and she covered her mouth as she began to cough, painfully sucking in more dusty air. It definitely wasn't the safest room in the manor, and she was pretty sure that she shouldn't linger in the room for long. At Nathaniel's words, Astrid spoke a muffled, "yep, I'll check it out." It took her a minute to get there, both due to the vastness of the room but also because she had quite a few obstacles to avoid. When she finally made it over, she roughly pulled at the stones, and released another loud cough as she finally freed the stone. Feeling about, she grabbed the edge of some leather material, and pulled it out. In her hands was a notebook, made of real leather from the feel of it. "I got something," Astrid said excitedly, her eyes lighting up at the new hope in her hands. She slowly, cautiously, made her way back to Nathaniel, her eyes never straying from the floor in front of her. She released a sigh of relief as she finally approached the hole she'd come from, feeling the floor dip underneath her a little too late. Her left leg went right through the floor, and she released a shriek of surprise as she collapsed to the floor. Luckily the whole floor hadn't given out, just a hole big enough to make her whole leg disappear. Tears pricked her eyes as her leg stung with multiple cuts. It wasn't broken, and nothing felt sprained, but the wooden floors were unforgiving, and had cut her on her way down. Considering that she couldn't quite see her leg, she couldn't really assess how bad it was. "N-Nathaniel, the uh, well my leg is stuck." Astrid tried to force a false calm into her voice, but the unsteadiness of it gave her away. Beans was a bit frightened. Astrid pulled a bit, pushing herself up with her arms, and her leg moved, causing some shard of wood to dig into her calf, pulling a soft cry of pain from Astrid's lungs.

Nathaniel's facial expressions did not change, but his voice was tense, "Aye," He stayed silent for a moment more, then spoke again, "If I look away from here I shall forget what I was seeing, plus I have no physical presence, so I cannot help you." His voice was stern, and had a no-nonsense tone to it, "You can get out of this. Try to slowly wiggle out your leg - and lay as flat against the floor as possible, so that your weight is even. Once you are out, we can asses the damages. Alright? You have this under control Astrid."

Personally, Astrid did not think she had the situation under control at all. She'd never been in any sort of dangerous situation in her entire life, she'd been sheltered from all of that. On top of that, her pain tolerance was practically zero, she hated the sight of blood and all of that. Beans was a pretty tough girl, but pain wasn't something she dealt with properly. Nathaniel's calm voice helped her though, and she breathed deeply as she tried to calm her panic. Listening to his words, she slowly laid down and wiggled her leg out. Her jaw clenched as wood dug into her leg, and her breathing began to trickle back down into unsteady gasps. She was making headway though, as her leg was slowly coming out of the hole. After about five minutes of silent struggling, the only noise her ragged breathing and the occasional whimper, she finally freed herself. "I'm out," Astrid gasped, her voice smaller than normal. Finally gathering the courage to look at her leg, she almost threw up at the sight of it. Dozens of cuts in a variety of sizes covered her leg and had scratched up her shoes. Bruises were already beginning to form, and tiny shards of wood had gotten stuck in her leg. Astrid quickly looked away, taking deep, calming breaths.

"Good, good. You are doing great. You don't have to look at your leg - crawl over here," Nathaniel's voice remained even and calm, not jolting around or letting any of his worry show. Astrid needed someone who was calm right now, and who could steady her, "Perfect. We will get you right fixed up. Won't take any time at all. And then you were planning on going home today as well - so you can see a medic or nurse, too." As Astrid approached the hole, Nathaniel backed up, although he didn't look away, "Now I am going to forget about this, Astrid, but I will still be right here to assist you once you are out."

Once she got to the exit, Astrid pushed herself in, a sharp hiss of air escaping her mouth as her leg flared in pain. "Okay, I'm coming on out now." Astrid crawled through the hole and slid to the ground on the other side, tears welling up in her eyes that she refused to let fall. Her leg stung, and she absolutely hated the feeling. Despite her accident, the leather book was still in her hand, and she gave Nathaniel a grim smile from her spot on the floor. "Well I got this so I think the mission is complete." Astrid's smile suddenly became a wince as her leg throbbed again.

Nathaniel looked away from... what was he doing there again? Never-mind that. Apparently while being in the room, Astrid had gotten injured. After an initial bout of violently cursing himself out, Nathaniel pushed it aside to look at Astrid's leg, "The mission was successful, but you got hurt. My apologies, Astrid. You should not have gotten hurt on my behalf." While speaking, Nathaniel was focusing on solidifying his form, and gently began to clear the debris from Astrid's leg, "Stay still - I shall fix this, Astrid."

Astrid's eyes widened at Nathaniel's apology and she immediately shook her head. "Don't apologize Nathan, I was the one who agreed to do it. It's no one's fault." Astrid merely shrugged, she didn't see the point in making anyone feel guilty when she'd been the one to agree to help him and walk into the room that they knew to be dangerous. It was better to just focus on her wounded leg than to focus on what had happened in the room, that way they could get done faster. Astrid winced as Nathaniel began to help her, shivering slightly at his cold touch that felt more like a gust of cold wind rather than a human touch. "Thank you Nathaniel." Astrid's voice was rather soft, and she was staring at the ceiling rather than her leg or Nathaniel. In reality, she was actually biting her lip to prevent herself from crying. She didn't want to cry over a few splinters. Even if said splinters burned like fire in her leg.

"You were planning to go home today, correct?" Nathaniel questioned, already knowing the answer, "So, if possible, see a medic if you must, or at least relax for a few days. Nothing is seriously wrong - your leg will be sensitive, though." Once Nathaniel removed all of the splinters, his form flickered and faded in and out for a few moments, "There. That is as much as I can do. Can you walk, or would you rather sit for a moment more?"
