blah blah blah. Rules? Who needed them? Human rules applied to humans. Sam, clearly, was not a human. Therefore, human rules definitely didn't apply to him. But he wouldn't say that out loud, not with Diana and her little friend around. For being on the dark side, Diana was awfully soft. That was something that irked Samuel just slightly. Her clear indifference to what side she was on.

He had been born to the darkness, grew up with it, lived it and loved it. After all, who needed to be benevolent when the humans were just destroying everything that the mythical and magic had created?! Not to mention killing them the second they had a chance.

Sam hid the sour mood under the guise of a flashing smile, toward the other fish-tailed siren and the geared up human. Diana's question prompted an off-hand question. "Why do you think? Siren are the superior. We have to prove it and, we do that, by tradition."

Which tradition was killing them off. "They proclaimed that we, of all people, tainted their precious blood-line. That pathetic fish prince with his face all colored definitely didn't help. 'Oh, my child--the merfolk line has been tainted. We're all doomed.' Tch," his words were evidently mocking someone. "As if Siren blood would really taint their bloodline. If anything it was probably those air-headed angels that they constantly associate with. But, then they declared war and decided we had to go."

A cruel smile drifted over his lips. "Too bad we're too strong for that. Now, as far as I know at least, it's only the prince who's left and I don't feel like killing him right now. It's only one kid, what's he gonna do? Kill us all? Ha."

Sam paused, listening to the human's question.

Haunted?

"I mean," Sam's lips twitched just slightly. "Depends on what you mean by haunted. Demons don't breath under water. Neither do spirits. This place might be haunted by sheer memories, perhaps laid by magic users who once attempted to heal the past."

Lies? Probably.

Would Sam ever tell them that? Absolutely not. That was up to him to reveal and he wasn't feeling like revealing that any time soon. His fingers drifted along the empty stone wall, tentacles gliding over the cracked tile floor.

"Yes," he finally said. "This... this would make an excellent home for a Dark Siren," his amethyst eyes glittered with delight. "The ancient ruins of a people once gone, the twisting narrowed hallways..."

A small glint took light in his gaze. "Hmm..." the noise was mused aloud, testing the way it bounced from wall to wall. "I wonder..."

Sam's lips parted just slightly, testing a hollow note before pushing his full voice into the watery hallways. It was filled with the buzzing power of using his abilities--a shivering vibration that filled his own chest and rang in his head. Eerie vibrations echoed from stone hallway to stone hallway, haunting and yet enticing all at the same time.

Oh he would enjoy this castle very much.

Centuries.

This man had lived literal centuries.

Vinnie felt like an absolute child next to him.

He let out a small noise, looking away for a brief moment. He had known magic users could live for decades upon decades after a usual "life span" but centuries? That... that was something else. But it made sense why Milo seemed so utterly reckless with his well-being. After a while, why bother?

Vincenzo let out a small noise, again, more thoughtful this time. "I... I'm sorry," he finally said, the words awkward in his mouth. He definitely wasn't sure if they were the right words to say but it was something at least. "I can't imagine what you've seen."

Hollow. The words felt hollow. As if they really didn't carry that much weight, as if they didn't truly matter or even if he didn't truly mean it. Whatever the reason, Vinnie at least knew he had attempted something.

He took in a slow and deep breath, trying to keep himself above the looming depths of misery and despair. Cheerful, bright, keep a smile and don't look down. The words repeated in his head for a long, long while.

"But, if you're looking for something sweet," the prince's words caught onto the first topic he had brought up. "Maybe I can help with that? I know a few beach-front stands and shops that sell some pretty good stuff. If you're interested that is... you don't have to."

But he'd at least offer.

Maybe a small part of him wished that Milo would say no, but the other half said please, say yes. He wasn't trying to be that desperate for a friend but at the same time? Vincenzo knew he was awfully lonely. Awfully lonely. A friend wouldn't be that bad right? Besides, if they were just friends then nobody would really be hurt if they drifted apart later on.

He hoped.

Milo's words only twisted in his chest. Not judge--not judge?! How could he not judge when so much had happened?! Vinnie's lip twitched, a sharp pull in his brow before he fought to remain relatively neutral. "I respect your opinion," he finally said. "But I retain my own due to personal experiences."

R was the best he could do without absolutely snapping at him. His internal emotions were soaring and it took a lot of self control. But he was a prince. Princes could control their emotions like the sea.

Or something.

Vinnie shook his head clear of his thoughts and let himself refocus on the sweets. Right.

"There's a cafe down this way," Vinnie gestured with one hand and began wandering down the pathway. "I usually go there because it's quiet and you can see a lot of stuff. It has a lot of nice windows."
