Science-fiction/thriller/mystery. Dislike animals (such as wolves, dogs) as protagonists/main characters. Perhaps unexpected twists in storyline would be interesting but not too much. I prefer something that is more closer to reality if you get what i mean (not 100% fantasy-like, something like that) sorry, its very short ^^"

Help! I forgot a title
It was an owl book. All I remember is these two female owls fighting in the middle of a sand storm and the other own being surprised by the beak strength of the female and thinking she was dead after falling. And the owl that fell being nursed to health in an underground dwelling by what I believe was a burrowing or elf owl.

Forms:

Help! I forgot a title!

What do you remember?

I need help with two titles, really, however, I'll fill out a form for each.

The first book, I have been trying to find for years now, and I cannot, for the life of me, find it anywhere.
From what I can remember, the cover was a light sandy color with red lettering for the title. I only remember the beginning of the book, it's about a girl, maybe mid to late teens, who lives in the middle of no where, and no, let me preface with this isn't The Wizard of Oz.
One day, either a huge sandstorm or tornado roll through, and she gets caught in it, and a whole new adventure starts as she becomes lost from her family who barely escaped it and got to their house or safety area where she couldnt.

Unfortunately, this is all I can really remember about this book, and I keep think it has something to do with Dust in the title, but I'm positive I'm wrong about that.

Forms:

For the second book, it's even more vague and I'm pretty aware that it's possible that it could match to several books. The cover, from what I think I remember, is of a girl who's mouth is either scratched out or covered.

In the story, she was kidnapped and held by someone and suddenly came back, but she can't talk. I don't know if she's just reluctant to speak, or she's been made so she could never speak again. I believe the entire book, she's afraid of something, but i dont remember what or why. I don't remember if she killed her captor and remains silent to avoid jail time, or she knows where and who he is and he's still sulking around her and has access to her until she finds a way to get him out of her life???

This one is a lot harder to remember, I think I read it back in 2013-2014?? :/

If you could help with either, that'd be amazing. I would love to reread these books.

Reopening this! Sorry for the inactivity, I took a hiatus for a while there-

Spellbound,
If you're still looking, maybe something in the Guardians of Ga'Hoole series?

Mistress Nyx,
I'm glad you found it!

Hi, could I get some recommendations? I'd like younger teen novels, preferably on the thicker side. I'd prefer fantasy, but as much as possible not magic, I like animal protagonists and something like Warrior Cats or Survivors with hierarchy is good. Thanks!

What are you interested in? Mystery/crime

I'm a fan of the "murder she wrote" series along with mystery books that have animals(specifically dogs) included/involved in the plot line ( like the paws & claws series by krista Davis ) I'm looking for more mystery fiction books that have dogs in them , all I can seam is find are one with cats, while cats are ok I'm more of a dog person lol

:0 I've found the book people!
I adore fantasy books of all kinds, mythology, medieval stuff, animals, everything. I enjoy dystopian-set novels but not as much as things set further back or maybe not even in this universe at all.
Books I've enjoyed:
Lord of the Rings
Ranger's Apprentice
Warriors
Everything Rick Riordan has ever written
Splinters of Scarlet
The Kinder Poison
