(done by me) graphic design in my passion

The Bond;

A dragon bond is a sacred thing, forged in blood and ancient magic. Once one is bonded, they are bonded for life. Dragon bonded, no matter the species, live around 600 years.

A dragon and their bonded share a deep spiritual connection. They can communicate telepathically, something that they learn to do with time. At first, it's just thoughts, images, and feelings, but after time they may be able to have a dialogue. The extents of this bond only grow over time.

When an egg chooses a rider, the experience of the bond is different for everyone. For some, it's painful as another consciousness becomes present in the back of one's mind. For others, it's like being made to feel safe. Everyone, though, feels the presence of their bonded in their minds. In time, it becomes familiar and soothing, although at first it may seem uncomfortable and new.

If rider or dragon is killed, it's incredibly painful. A piece of you is destroyed, and it's not exactly something that can be regained. Riders and dragons have been driven mad by this feeling. It is unknown whether or not one who loses their bonded can create a new bond with another. It's never been done, and assumed impossible.

The Games;

I'd love to hear any and all ideas y'all may have! So far this is what I've got with the help of some lovely people.

Part I - the bonding itself

The bonding in the city square of the capital of Saenor is a rather crude thing, surprisingly enough. Two long tables have the eggs lined up and spaced out, mostly due to species and size. Those attempting to forge a Bond are to line up and one by one take their time as they walk down the line of eggs, hands brushing against each one in hopes of being chosen. Or, well, the ones they want to bond with. Many see it as foolish or entitled, but some of status like to pick and choose which eggs they may attempt to bond with.

When someone forges a bond, the Dragonborn and his dragon will pull them off into a small tent set up for the bonded and their newly-hatched dragonlings. He is to coach them and talk them through what exactly they have gotten themselves into. What he reveals to whom is up to his discretion, but he is supposed to remain impartial. Whether or not he actually does is debatable.

Part II - strengthening of the bond

Those who have an egg hatch for them will spend a month or two in Saenor, in the quarters of the castle engineered specifically for them with the help of elven and fae magic. In this time period the young dragons will grow rapidly, large enough to be ridden after a period of a few months. During this, nothing is expected of the riders except for the strengthening of their bonds. They may receive instruction on whatever they wish during this period, and it is expected that humans will be taught the basics of magic. There will be a general timeskip during this time, where your rider is free to do what they wish as long as they don't just leave lmao.

The riders quarters are a beautiful series of buildings engineered with dragon sizes in mind. Even the largest of dragons can fit into most areas, and certain areas are enchanted as to make certain dragon species most comfortable. The room built for the sun dragon seems to always radiate heat, and the ice is near freezing.

Each room has a hollow large enough for the dragon to curl up, a bed, and furniture. Whether the riders actually use the beds are up to them, as many may prefer to sleep with their dragon.

Azo's thoughts and whatnot -

Howl: As Chimborazo is rather gaurded around strangers, and Howl is aloof and distant, I don't believe that Azo would have any interest in getting Howl's attention or befriending him. Azo would tolerate Howl, I think, and not particularly mind his harsh severity, so as long as it wasn't directed to Topaz or another of his friends. If Azo was to ever voluntairily decide to engage with Howl, which is unlikely in of itself, he may be a little dissapointed that the ice dragon doesn't share his somewhat humorous love for flowers, or sunsets, or small jokes, etc..

Cathix: Azo may not engage with Cathix as often, but he would certainly appreciate their strong moral compass, which is something both of them share. However, as a dragon valuing humility, Azo wouldn't be a fan of Cathix's arrogance. It wouldn't particularly bother him, he just wouldn't like it. Similar to Howl, Azo is unlikely to approach them, but may do so simply because Cathix isn't nearly as harsh as some of the rest.

Tavora: As Azo would likely put it: Nope. Nope nope. Azo would likely be tolerant of her (probably more so than some of the others), and would listen to what she has to say, but her fiery aggression would not sit well with him. He'd keep an eye on her for sure, just to be safe. Azo would appreciate her willingness to work hard. If Tavora was to ever soften a little, Chimborazo may be a little more willing to be around her. As a generally peaceful dragon, however, he wouldn't be picking fights, and Tavora's words wouldn't send him into a defensive rage. So they might eventually have some friendship material in the future, but I'm not so sure.

Amrinis: I think Azo would take to this dragon - at least, more so than the rest. He would appreciate her calm clear-headedness, and her more peaceful disposition. Her loyalty would be admirable to Azo, and Amrinis may be one of the few he's willing to talk to, if he must engage with the others.

Aelius: Azo would like this dragon, but sort of remain in his shadow. Aelius may be a bit too vibrant and energetic to be deal with Azo's somewhat gentler, steadier pace, but Azo would certainly enjoy Lius's more fun-loving side. The irritability of Aelius wouldn't bother him too much, but Azo wouldn't be a fan of it.

Ikona: Azo would probably get along with this dragon. Like Tavora, Ikona's aggression wouldn't endearing to Chimborazo. His tendency to worry and think about the what-ifs (although Azo has been known to do the same) would probably end up irritating Azo after a while, especially considering that strangers (even those he knows) aren't his thing. But otherwise, Azo would probably end up liking Ikona, but he wouldn't be really making efforts to interact with him, at least at first.

Aibek: Azo would do his best to be a little more gentle and friendly to this dragon, just considering Aibek's natural fear. Azo be rather wary, and even somewhat distant around other dragons, but he doesn't want to see anyone hurting or afraid. Eventually, Azo would probably give up really trying to befriend Aibek, but he'll be a more open towards him regardless. If Aibek were to every become a little less gaurded and show his goofier side, I can see the two becoming friends. It is a little tough to get there, though, both of them being rather wary and distant of other dragons.

Aroa: Similarly to Aibek, Azo would be a little more open to her. As she is rather shy, Azo would be inclined to be more kind and gentle, but I'm not really sure past that. He defintely wouldn't relate or understand her need to micromanage, but he'd certainly listen to her and do his very best to empathize. As she is on the quieter side, I'm not sure if Azo would really reach out, even if he would be friendly. Possibly, who knows - there might be potential for a friendship there?

Re'enalla: I'm pretty sure Azo would like Wren. He'd defintely feel more comfortable around her than some of the others. Her calm serenity would be appreciated by Azo, and as Wren is much older, I think he may view her as a role model? I'm not sure, though :')

Anywho, I think that's it!

Esse Relationships

* = place name for increased character

Camilla Kirsi Moncello

In the beginning I feel that Esse would be more guarded and the two would be at one another's throat quite a bit. Yet, as time went on, they'd turn this into their own aggressive relationship where she'd claim him as a pet/slave/etc. but truly see him as a son like figure or a little brother figure. He's accept the harassment as a form of care but would deny it if spoken of.

Aztiello Menlo

Esse would find this man initially irritating. He'd become suspicious of his motives and be quite cautious and defensive against him. Yet, as time when by, Esse would find this man 'cute' in a way, and perhaps fall for his charm and loosen up for him.... Just him though.

Topaz Finn Agæca

Esse would find himself a tad envious at this young woman. He'd jot realize it was envy, assuming it was disgust. He feels hatred towards all people equally, but his envy for her would branch to her as he finds her free will and care free existence enticing. In the end I feel as though she'd find him as an older brother type and he'd find her as a little sister type.

Deinara Bijou Aurelia

N/a just yet

Sol Saanvi Dayal

Esse would be neutral to her, as they are both halflings. However, he wouldn't treat her much differently, other than being less verbally abusive. He'd understand her situation, but feel as though he needs to take her under his wing, since he's been through the hatred of halflings much longer than her.

Orrian Cypress Tordi

Initially finding Orrian quite attractive, Esse would become red in the face while interacting with him, his verbal abuse increasing to its max. In his denial for his attraction to a different species, Esse would be consumed with self hatred anf attempt to distance himself from this hunky elf. This causez Orrian to think Esse hates him and other to assume it is due to the fact Orrian is pure blooded and Esse is not.

Galledeas Verael

His hatred for Esse lies relatively deep, considering Galledeas's secret of being his mother's previous betrothed before her affair with a human.... At least, that's what he thinks due to many rumors. Esse holds a deep hatred for this man. When both in a room, Esse would be the one to stare coldly at him, and deny him any respect.

Zebeythrae "Zeb" Leoriethty

Esse holds a pure hatred for this woman, only due to the fact she is the Dragonborn's apprentice. He wouldnt dare trust her, not treat her with kindness. Hed be suspicious of her and possibly envious that she was of pure blood. The others that he likes would perhaps force him to get along with her and in the end, after verbal assaults to her, he may apologize in his own way privately. Like giving get a bread bun. Yes, that sounds delightful.

Manon Alina Sarranas

Pure hatred for this young woman burns into Esse's soul due to her pure blood. He is envious of her easy life and quite disgusted by her upbeat attitude, but this is only due to his expectations of hatred from pure Fae people. He could never fully trust a fae.

Topaz's thoughts~ ;)

Zeb; she'd prob be fairly neutral toward Zeb, as she does seem to be fairly laid-back compared to some of the others. She'd appreciate her intelligence but somewhat have it out for her because of her easy life and mentor.

Camila; another clueless noble. Topaz would make little effort to make friends with her, honestly. She'd probably be alright with her after a while, but I can't see her ever particularly wanting to become close. Her snarkiness would likely be a bit off-putting although topaz shares a similar type of humor.

Aztiello; she'd be surprised at how little he tries to mask his feelings, and would feel a little weird because he's actually nice lmao. I think they'd get along fine, although it would likely depend on who he's bonded with cx

Sol; She'd fascinate Topaz. They seem to have similar personalities and if they'd ever stop dancing around actually interacting. They're both equally lost and equally snarky, and Topaz would appreciate Sol's 'devil-may-care' attitude as well as surprising morals. They actually have more in common than it seems they know.

Orrian; she probs would avoid him tbh lmao, they'd get along fine but never be close. uhhh this is my character I don't want them interacting all that much sdfgh

Galladis; oh shit oh fuck no that's not right (authors note: topaz's thoughts exactly)

Manon; she'd appreciate manon's experience and roughness around the edges. her mercenary lifestyle is closest's to Topaz's own and if Topaz had to choose someone to have her back (without knowing them all that well, this probs would change over the course of the roleplay) it would be Manon.

Æschylus; at first Topaz would have no desire to interact with the mean man, but she'd be both surprised and intrigued by his bonded dragon. I think if Aroa and Azo manage to strike up a friendship, they'll both be a bit more open to interacting. they have a bit in common, even though it might not seem like it.

Aroa~

Re'enalla; as a baby, when Aroa didn't have her tail wrapped tight around Esse she'd be following wren around. Aroa probably thinks quite highly of wren and sees her as a mentor. She's one of the few dragons Aroa would willingly go and interact with, and would probably try and catch her alone for advice because Aroa likes to worry.

Amrinis; Aroa would get along fairly well with Amrinis, I think. Her clearheaded-ness would definitely contrast a bit with Aroa's tendency to get her thoughts muddled and go down a rabbithole, but I think they're both fairly calm and collected and could very well work up a friendship or at the very least an understanding/mutual respect

Ikona; Aroa would not like Ikona's unpredictability and intensity. Aroa is the type to feel safe when she's in a routine or knows how something is going to work out. However, they both seem to like to worry quite a bit.

Tavora; I think she'd try her best to steer clear of Tavora. For whatever reason, I feel like Tavora would be one of those few that seem to trickle into her visions in some way or another. Maybe because of her impulsive nature and therefore the many possible futures. For this reason alone she'd avoid her. Personality-wise, she's just too intense for shy little Aroa lmao

Chimborazo; Aroa could definitely come to relate to Azo. His grounded-ness would mildly surprise her, as thoughtful as he is. As one that can be swept away by her thoughts as well, she'd be able to relate to him. After some warming up I think they very well could get along.

Cathix; Aroa could come to appreciate Cathix's single-mindedness. They seem to be rather dependable, for the most part. Although their arrogance and vanity would intimidate her a bit, I think Aroa and Cathix could come to a mutual respect, although she would have little desire to interact with them outside of training and such.

Howl; His disdainfulness would intimidate Aroa enough for her to not seek out interactions with him. She'd probably be a bit nervous around him, and stay away unless their interaction was necessary.

Aelius; He's so...vibrant. Aroa wouldn't know what to do around him. Not nearly as aggressive as the other more social dragons, she'd be both slightly intimidated by him and admire his easygoing charisma. How on earth does he manage to pull stuff off as Liu does without thinking?

Aibeck; Aroa would really not know what to think of this dragon. He's as skittish as she is, and maybe they could bond over that? I feel like she'd give him little nods as they passed each other in the halls or something along those lines.

Aelius's Opinions on:
-- Other dragons --
I will need more thought to really get a good scope on how he would interact with each of these dragons. This is by no means complete.

Howl - He will probably not like him much, sorry Howl. He is just too rigid, humorless and cold for him to interact with without getting angry and defensive in return, as Howl raises his defenses and gets all cold and mean. They may resent each other - opposites in all the wrong ways. Aelius will likely ignore him, and will wryly sit by, not trying to protect or stick up for him in most scenarios because he can do it himself. He also might coldly tease him for his small size, since he does not fall under the category of dragons he favors or wants to protect, and may even threaten the ice dragon with his weakness, heat, if he catches him in a particularly stressed or dangerous bad mood.

Tavora - Sees her as a rival! Maybe a sibling rivalry-type thing going on between the two most outspoken, competitive and aggressive dragons in the group. Especially during the games. Goes back and forth between hating her as much as she likely hates him, and enjoying pushing her buttons when he is in a good mood, to get an ~electrifying~ reaction out of her. He is likely one of the only dragons daring enough to do this, and will probably regret it with time, lol. They could be an excellent team if they are willing to put their rebellion towards a common goal - together they could wreak havoc on the universe!! But yeah, Tavora will probably hate his guts. And he will happily hate hers in return. Though secretly he may respect her wild, untameable nature and fierce attitude.

Cathix - Cathix will probably not like him either, as Aelius is quite fond of jokes, tricks and fun. All things Cathix is not a fan of. He will probably try to get Cathix to join in on the fun, but will likely be unsuccessful. He may just end up getting bored and giving up on him. I am not sure how receptive Cathix would be to his attempts at socializing/connecting with him.

Amrinis -

Ikona - Ikona probably will think he is too confrontational

Azo - Like I've said before, he will likely be confused by Azo's peaceful, slow-moving and observant nature, wanting to spend hours just taking in the finer details in life. He does not understand this more slow-paced lifestyle, and may try to push him to do more active things that Liu finds fun. Partially out of concern that he is bored or lonely, and just doesn't know how to have fun. Of course he knows better than to actually threaten another dragon's rider unless he is really pissed at them or they get in his way, so that shouldn't be a problem. Eventually he will come to accept Azo's nature, and realize that there is more than one way to have fun and enjoy life. An important lesson in insight and empathy for a relatively self-centered and oblivious dragon. He may even try following the Earth dragon around and copying him, just to see what he is so interested in. Though he likely won't have enough patience to really get truly invested in the lizard or the plant Azo is staring so intently at. Overall his opinion will be generally positive, and he will hopefully grow to appreciate his strange, peace-loving friend.

Aibek - He will likely drive Aibek away at first, being too bold and intimidating, while obliviously not realizing he is scaring him away. He will probably end up ignoring him for a while. If the moon dragon eventually warms up to him, his goofy and supportive nature will put him under the "protected" category. He will be one of the dragons Aelius feels responsible for protecting, and he will probably end up liking him quite a bit as a fun, optimistic and caring friend!

Aroa - Another confusing one for Liu. He has no idea why Aroa always seems so distant and worried about things that he percieves as vague flashes of futures that probably won't even happen. She likely won't interact with him much on her own, and she will probably either get annoyed with him or ignore him. If he does add her into his "circle", his more physical and instinctual personality might rub off on her and help her get out of her head a bit. But they might just end up ignoring each other lol.

Wren - Might not want to interact with him, being a moon dragon who doesn't do well with sun of any kind. But if he was able to get close to her as a baby he would probably like her and be very protective of her later in life.
As for shipsss.... my best shot would probably be Azo (I just like how they appear to kind of fit together, the dynamic is cute though it could also be just a friend dynamic), with Aibek, Aroa or even Howl as possible options as well (depending how their interactions go. We stan a relationship built from hatred. >:)) He is very flexible, since he will likely be the one making the moves. C:<

Took me long enough to get this up lmao. I think she has the most potential to be friends with Sol and Topaz, though she may take a liking to Galladis or Aztiello as well.

Sol

Manon loves sarcasm and wit, and as such, she will likely have a strong liking for Sol. Intelligence is something she values highly, and she appreciates it in others. She might somewhat envy Sol’s ability not to care what others think of her, as Manon has spent much of her life feeling as though she needs to prove herself. All in all, however, Manon will likely see Sol as someone she would like to get a drink with and probably befriend.

Topaz

Stories of travel entertain Manon quite a bit, and as such, she will find Topaz to be an interesting person. She is quite rebellious, so finding a kindred spirit in Topaz may be cause for her to attempt to befriend her. She will definitely respect Topaz’s skill with weapons, and might even offer to teach her some of the fighting techniques she’s learned as a mercenary.

Camila

Nobles aren’t really Manon’s favorite type of person as she knows them to be demanding and obnoxious from experience with them, though that isn’t necessarily a reason to dislike Camila. Her commanding personality, however, will definitely cause Manon to rebel and argue quite a bit, and possibly go to lengths to mess with and cause trouble for her. Her lack of a temper will definitely frustrate Manon, as causing trouble for someone to her usually means finding every way she can think of to make them angry.

Orrian

Manon doesn’t like quiet people very much, and will press Orrian quite a bit for his backstory. She may also see in him a good target for her playful teasing. In spite of this, though, she has no reason to genuinely dislike him, other than perhaps being bothered by his introverted personality.

Esse

Arrogant and rude are probably her first words to describe Esse. His temper will be fun to play with, and she will definitely be doing that. They both jump to aggression quite quickly, so fights are very likely. Manon will, however, enjoy the process of angering him, so any fights will be more than worth it in her mind.

Deinara

WIP

Galladis

As he is the leader of her people, Manon will likely respect him quite a bit. She will respect his protectiveness of his fellow fae and his commitment to his duties. She might even respect him enough not to try to mess with him every chance she gets. Might.

Aztiello

Manon likes humor and cheerful people, so her first impressions of Aztiello will be quite positive. However, she might feel that his tendency to try to please everyone comes off as a little...false. She can relate to his reasoning behind it though, and they might find a common goal in proving their worth to others.

Zeb

Manon has no reason to dislike Zeb, as she seems like a perfectly nice person. However, since she is externally a very calm person, Manon will most likely not have much to relate to her with. They do seem to both be creative, but other than that, would have little in common. Manon respects her, of course, as she’s the future Dragonborn, but not much beyond that.
