scurvy is for missing out on fruit and veggies. i'm pretty sure by missing out on meat you just get insane protein and iron (mostly iron) deficiencies

honestly. this statement makes me think that iravan's size condition means he lives in the pen with all the other animals. it'd probably be the biggest room in the ship with the smallest roommates, so...

Yeah that sounds about right. Scurvy just has a satisfying (not satisfying but I can't think of the word) sounding name, surely there's a protein/mineral deficiency equivalent?
