Family trees, third-cousins and stuff get me confused so bare with me. So Nic is related to Hartley by Hart's mother's side because he is half brothers with Cea (related through their mother) who is on Hart's mother's side. Assuming that Cea and Nic's mom is Hart's mom because they moved/will move in with them and Cea's dad is dead. So, this means that Hart's aunt had two kids. One Nic and the other Cea. This makes them first cousins, right? To answer your question, I think you have to answer this one: does Nic live with Cea? If so, then yes. Hart would know of Nic and would probably have met before.
