Given Matt's age, he could've been friends with one or all of Sabe's brothers. That could introduce some interesting history between the two. |

For Aether finding Theo I was thinking they would've met in the training camp, and then later when they all meet together they could connect the dots? Like "Oh! You're ___'s sister, right?" "Wait, you know Sabela?" lol |

Perhaps her and Matt could have been childhood friends by association and occasionally played together along with her brothers (her trying to be included and the annoying little sister) and then when they all left to train at the Illyrian camp they fell out of touch and then the connect the dots game would come about as you suggested!
