If Garvin can help it, she'll never know he even has a cane. Or medication. Or compression gloves. Or literally any sort of aids at all. So. If she finds out, she can take all the offense she wants.

Garvin's just going off what he knows. He knows that out of this group she's the most like his friends (that aren't Tory) and he knows how they react to all of it. So he's just making the guess that she'd react the same way. And he'd rather not deal with someone trying to steal his shit or knock it over or hide it or literally anything else like that for a bit.
