But essentially what Bobcat said! Being around Clearwater does give people powers. But, maybe to have these powers, you have to go through a 'test'. Those who are strong minded can control their powers, and therefore, stay in control of themselves. But for those who don't, they lose control of their powers, and 'disappear'. (Ex. Talon's recent post has him blanking out a lot. He's a senior, and basically lives in Clearwater even out of the school year. Talon is weak and pretty vulnerable so maybe he succumbs to his power instead of being able to use it, haven't decided yet lol)

As for HOW they get it, I was thinking something about the lake. Maybe there's a part of the lake, like a super secret cave that had magical water or something? The group of kids maybe go to a party one night there and they all get close to the water and start developing powers?
