Amy is an asshole, yes, but he cares about his friends if someone harms them in any way. I feel like he has a hard time expressing himself due to the death of his ancestor Ladon by the hand of Hercules to the point he keeps himself reserved so the same fate doesn't happen to him. Aster was his only friend as a child until they two went separate ways. With Aster's aid, he opened up a bit and explored the world to see the process of humanity. He another person who he thought was his friend, but they betrayed him. Resulting him in locking himself away.
