those work for me! i was thinking of *maybe* adding some sort of pantheon that people can believe in. it could explain maybe why dragons are so sacred to the people? the population can believe that each dragon is made from the god's stardust per se, which explains why they have become so beloved to people. hell, maybe we could even throw in some demigod stuff too to make things sort of interesting.

as for magic, i'm thinking that there could be some mages, but those individuals are quite rare. normally they're knowledgeable and hold some power and rank, as they are valuable to the royalty?

Hm, I would be down with that. Would dragon riders still be able to wield any type of magic that is typical of their dragon? Like would a fire dragon rider be able to manipulate fire? Or be immune to fire?

i think riders being able to be "immune" would be more common. riders who can manipulate the same elements as their dragons could've either a) been born with the rare gift or b) have been say "blessed" by a mage or some other magic dweller? considering that someone with a dragon is already powerful, i think everyone having the same powers could be a bit overbearing. however, maybe some smaller abilities can appear upon bonding with one? like the immunity, telepathic communication, maybe some sort of "urge" to use the power but it's hard to tell if they can?

hmmm, I like the immunity thing. Maybe one thing they can get instead of powers is like superhuman strength, stamina, pain tolerance? Maybe that's why they are more willing to participate in the tournament? And maybe the "immunity" they get depends on the element of their dragon so not every rider has the same immunity? And perhaps for some of the elements, a rider has a higher chance to gain the ability to control a certain aspect of it? Or temporary elemental usage at a very low usage? Like a water dragon rider can create a small ball of water in their hands only if they are near water?
