Ooh! I just had an idea for the whole Malakai-Cascade thing. What if seeing Mudslide dead triggered him to reevaluate his relationships with his other pups and makes him realize how distant Cascade is to him? That could prompt him into doing the whole bonding session maybe. |

Mudslide was on a hunting patrol, yes? Could say it was a tragic hunting accident possibly, or simply an unforseen circumstance stance that happened while on patrol? |

Maybe some large animal attack? They could've seen a boar piglet alone, thought it was safe only for the mother to surprise attack. We could also do a cliff collapse by a gorge

Could combine the two. He maybe jumped for something only ta land on unstable ground?
