I'm terrified of storms too. I was caught outside in a tornado once. Now you can't calm me down if there's a severe thunderstorm. And I have a lamp on at night because my room gets pitch black. My mind plays tricks on me too and I can't sleep if there's no light. Even if I stay somewhere else, there needs to be a light on somewhere. He shouldn't be making fun of you for your fears. That's not what a good guy does.

My mother-in-laws cat was kidnapped in a neighborhood we were living in. We put up some signs. He was such a friendly cat. He would have made friends with anyone. Somebody took the time to take all signs we put up for him. My two cats use to be outdoors. Nope. Not since we moved to Michigan.

That's what the response should have been like. He should not be laughing at you for something that you cannot control. You need to let him know that his response wasn't okay and if he continues, let him go. You don't need to be with someone that invalidates your fears for any reason whatsoever. All fears are valid and should not be made fun of.
