Yep, the whole point is to be responsible about it. Purebreds are not a bad thing when they are bred to standard. You want to encourage healthy, well-rounded animals, or people will just keep finding more and more unethical breeding methods to make money.

Lucius, I love talking about dog breeding. I used to be super 'adopt don't shop' too until I had bad run ins with rescues for purely genetic reasons like genetic health issues or genetic temperament issues.

Now I am a huge purebred snob and I love seeing purebreds doing their working purpose. I like 'adopt or shop responsibly' more and it's cool seeing breeds bred for all types of work and with good health.

Oof, Lucius, agreed! Saw a lot of health issues with the smaller breeds at the groomers.

It's part of the reason why I'm so mad that we own toy-sized Australian Shepherds. I was a child when we bought them, but toy-sized anything just wildly grosses me out. I'm glad that our dogs are perfectly healthy and active but this whole obsession with having comically small animals is just,, I could go on for hours about how bad it is (':

That's so cool?? I used to be very anti-breeding but now I'm learning about breeding standards and people who are working really hard to reverse the effects on dog breeds who've been bred for aesthetic over health and it's just all so fascinating to read about. Nothing quite like learning from people who know what the hell they're talking about lol.

Hey there! I've lately been trying to make shadows and.... It didn't go that well. I dont know if i should be straight lines, puffed lines etc. Actually i don't know anything about shading and just wondered if anyone had a tutorial or some tips? Here you can see an example:

What I did when I started to learn shading is a took a regular black color traced the outline of where I though shadows should go ( under cheek fur, ears, ect) then lowers the opacity. Then repeat until I'm happy. I can make a small drawing showing what I'm saying that that would help.

Another really good tip you could use is figure out where your light source is coming from! I will often pick a corner of the canvas that is my "light source". Then you can kinda picture where the light would fall on your subject and what things would be in shadow. You could even have a layer where you draw your light lines casting on the subject and then just get rid of that layer when you are done! But you have a really good start here!

It looks good! The straight lines are called cel shading. The only thing that makes it look a bit funky is the shading on the stomach goes up to high.
Does that make sense? I can add visuals if you want.

I used purple for the lines so the black on the second step would stand out and not look like part of the lines.

Black color isn't best for shading though. I recommend a blue or purple.

It only depends on what color your shading

But should the "line" of the shadow be straight like this?
