Will do :) I'm going to head out for the night. Take care everyone!

@Silver - I hope you got something nice from your geodes!

@Zodiac - can't be nursing if you're wearing Timberlands... some sort of a warehouse? manufacturing? I used to have to wear steel toe shoes for 12hr shifts 5 days a week. it SUCKED. I quit that job after about 4 months. The money wasn't worth not being able to do anything on my days off because I couldn't walk

That stinks. I wear Timberlands. They have built in anti fatigue insoles that are a major help. But i went 4pm to about 2 this morning non stop with no break and went 12 hours yesterday non stop.
04:01:31 Heli the Chat Ghost
@Silver - Good luck!

@Zodiac - I also have problems with my feet. I finally found a shoe store that has people who are trained to check your gait and stuff as you're trying on shoes. My new shoes help a lot but I still need custom orthotics which are gonna cost me ~$400 cause my insurance doesn't want to cover them.

Ugh, pain. >.> I am actually pleasantly surprised that the radiofrequency ablations I've had done over the last 3 weeks are already starting to work and I can notice a difference

Thunder rumbled through the sky above, the following lightening setting the drenched grass aglow for one heartbeat before the area was swallowed up again by darkness. Your pack had scented the upcoming storm earlier, as did you, but nothing could stand in your way if rumors of a storyteller were surrounding the other territories. Some described the teller as a wicked entity, others had a brighter touch on it, but all agreed that it was a peculiar little thing. Though the most unthinkable thing that the teller did stirred the pelts of most wolves with fear. It lived next to humans, the true top predator of the forest. Their eyes were always ignited with an eerie disdain for the trees and dwelling habitats of the animals that lived there; why just last quarter moon a bear was killed just a few tree trunks away from her den. She had scented hunters and went out to guard her cubs.

But.. you reminded yourself, eyes glancing warily around as a lightning bolt, the closest one yet, hit the ground you had been sleeping on just that morning, humans could be good too. Sometimes the odd one would see an injured small animal, like a bird, and fix whatever it could. Then it let the animal go, back to its home at full health. Perhaps this thing knew that. Or, like your elder snapped at you a few mornings ago:

"If you got a tooth loose in the wrong area, anything can spit from those salivating jaws. Back when I was a pup we didn't.." Fortunately, you had started to walk off then to hunt in preparation for your journey. He was a wise wolf, but also a bit off in the head himself. If what he said was true, he had more than just one loose tooth. Then again, most were missing...

The harsh wind picked up even more, sending a chill down your spine. Each of your steps grew less certain. Where was this place? Had you passed it? Were the rumors simply just that? A rumor? Sighing, you sat down for a moment, the thunder and shrill wind echoing through your head. Looking around, a glumness seeping through your expression, you thought you saw something move in the bush a few elk antlers away. Then it happened again, but all your eyes caught were flickers and outlines. Huh?

"Well, are you coming or not?" A voice said in a squeaky voice. Something tugged on your shoulder. "Down here, look below the treeline beside you." Now the thing seemed almost annoyed. But didn't he/she or it sneak up on you? Some animals just had no consideration these- what the heck? The little persistent munchkin turned out to be a monkey. A juvenile, judging by its size, and possibly a runt. It had a blue face and a mane of white scraggly fur. Its eyes were a light brown and currently narrowed in an attempt to be fierce. It looked adorable, in a weird way.

"Coming to where?" You looked around again, wondering if you missed something. Nope, same forest, same storm, same grass tickling at your fur, and same monkey suffering from a tantrum. Hmm. Maybe it had ingested one of those weird mushrooms that made you see things. A friend of yours had sworn that the water from the river was swirling around in the sky but, when someone had checked, they said it was fine.

The monkey scratched its head, as if you were losing your mind and it was contemplating the best way to tell you so. "To the Master Alkeir and Mistress Adelain of course, one a writer, the other a poet. Best in this neck of the woods. Well..there's not much in this neck of the woods but they're good!" The monkey flicked its tail and nodded, as if that sealed their fate for being 'good'. "Well, you came here to see so yourself, right? Come on, it's this way! I'm Zeizen, the guide."

You hesitantly followed the furry 'guide', the thunder fading behind you as the thick trees swallowed up all of the outside sound.

Zeizen, awkward as he seemed out there in the grass, was truly at home once he climbed a tree and swung from limb to limb with a fluid grace, like a fish to water or a bird to the sky. Meanwhile, you kept getting tripped up or caught in the outstretched roots of the shrubs and each time had to tear yourself out. Some fur sadly had to be sacrificed. Soon the forest began to thin and you were able to run faster, catching up to Zeizen and following just below him. Then all the trees vanished at once and a little cabin stood in the middle of the forest clearing, smoke rising up from the chimney. Would this meeting go up in ash and smoke as well?

Tensing, you watched as the little monkey walked clumsily to the door, like a pup just learning how to walk would, and knocked on the door. Fur bristling slightly, you watched as a smaller door swung out and two shapes emerged. They were a bit smaller than you, still canine, and about your age. Not too old, not too young. Tawny brown and black fur covered their body and faces, collars on their necks. Dogs. Eyeing the identical pair (littermates maybe?) warily, you waited as they slowly trotted over, tails wagging slightly as they saw you. Zeizen, sitting on a little pile of leaves a few feet away, watched while eating some fruit.

"Hello!" They spoke in unison, one a deep bass and the other a melodic chirp. "Welcome to our shop!"

"I'm Adelain," the slightly shorter female said, her light blue eyes shimmering like reflected water. "Also known as the sole poet here."

"And I," the taller and broad-shouldered male said in a grand tone, "am Alkeir. Finest writer and story-teller to ever live." He raised his tail in obvious pride.

Adelain opened her mouth, like she was about to reject her brother's claim, then shut it and turned to you with a gentle expression. "Now, what have you journeyed all this way for? Perhaps we can help you write your history, or inspire a new one with your tales.."

Sinc this is a WIP still, I won't vote, but I absolutely LOVE this. It was so satisfactory reading this, along with having the growing curiosity of what's going to happen next! Amazing job Soul!
