With the recent rule change allowing tone indicators in both their shortened and spelled out forms, it's important to know what each one means. So, here's a helpful list of common tone indicators in their shortened forms and their meanings.

If you've seen one that's not on the list or have any questions, feel free to post here! I use them quite frequently outside of WP and will do my best to keep this list updated if the community begins using indicators beyond the ones originally listed here.

Feel free to share this as well if you see anyone confused by what an indicator means!

Three that I use most often (when I use tone tags) are /info (information), /nbr (not being rude), and /ser (serious). [Although the proper for serious is /srs.]

/info is another very common one! I just didn't add it because info is a pretty well known shorthand for information, so could be considered spelled out.

Not being rude is a new one to me though, so good to know! I've only really heard /npa doubling as not being rude before :0
