The village of Mayfield is a rather charming settlement, nestled quite snugly in the shadow of a large hill. It’s small, subdued, and maybe just a tad oldfashioned. This is the kind of place where neighbors know their neighbors, and they know the neighbor’s neighbors, and so on and so forth. Children play in the lawns, grandfathers sit on their porches, and stray chickens roam through the streets. “Surely”, you think, “What a simple, joyful town it must be.” Why, you can ask any of the residents yourself! You’ve just rolled in after all. Maybe you’re staying to see family. Perhaps you’ve come seeking employment. Or most mundane of all, you’re just passing through on your way to someplace much greater than this. You settle into your hotel, or your motel, or maybe your old childhood bedroom. As you head off to make the most of your day, your eyes catch a glimpse at the old wooden manor sat just atop the hill. It’s hard for you to make out, what with the distance and the early sun framing it on the horizon. The best you can tell, it’s some rich kid’s summer home that needs a bit more TDLC, you can see the vines growing from here. You admire the beauty of it for just a moment before you turn back to do whatever it was you came here to do. You pass the mail man on the way out, more of a boy than a man, really. He stands there, sifting through his letters, and you pay him no mind as you move past him down the street. What you don’t notice, is the way he startles at one specific envelope. He double takes, looking back towards your retreating form helplessly. Alas, you are gone, and he can do nothing but slip the letter underneath your door. He takes off the opposite way down the street, head hung low, knuckles white around his bag. Hour’s later, you’ll return to a rather inconspicuous parcel laying right inside your door. It seems the mail boy has left a letter for you. You’re entirely baffled at the red hand stamped seal staring up at you. You weren’t aware people did this sort of thing anymore. You carefully peel it off and unfold the contents inside. - “You’re Invited! Dear Recipiant We cordially invite you to join the Achorage Family for the Annual Gala at this time and date. General Info
Written for up to 12 players! 11 guests and 1 murderer. This will be a murder mystery/survival roleplay that takes place over a 12 hour night. Each player will be assigned a unique role to help you gather information and give you goals to push towards. Every hour on the hour characters will be forcibly separated and everyone will give their guess as to who the murder is. If the majority guess wrong the murderer will then eliminate their next victim.
Victims may return as ghosts to give clues, use latent abilities, and generally mess with the living. With each passing hour, a new spirit will return with less power than the last. The night can end earlier or extend later depending on what roles are chosen, we will work around this.
After sign ups have completed, I will begin contacting players at random. You will be given three choices. At least one of these will be your preferred alignment, unless all alignment slots have been taken before you. You may ask for a new set if you don’t like what you were given, but you will be pushed to the back of the queue. There are more roles then there are slots, so you have a decent chance at pulling something unseen by anyone else. You enter the manor with knowledge of all the roles listed on your paper, regardless of what you chose.
I will spin for the first death after a few pages of dialogue. Our first ghost will be the strongest, you will have less perks the later you died to hopefully keep it more fair.
Most of the RP will be hosted through the forums, but due to the game and mystery aspect some interactions will have to go through me first. Determining what occurs at the end of an hour will be a private affair, compiled back into the forum with a bit of editing. Clues and unfiltered scenes directed towards one character will also be PM’d to their respective users.
You will be given ample time to mingle and suss out your fellow guests before the next hour strikes. This will typically occur during a window where I deem most conversations to be at a good stopping point, when something critical has been discovered, or if the forum is simply getting too slow. Requirements
This will be a Semi-Literate Roleplay. You must write at least one to two paragraphs per post. Three or more times a week. Double check spelling and grammar before posting. It doesn’t need to be perfect, but I will be annoyed if all you post is an unreadable mess. I do not condone GenAI and do not want it in my RP. It is impossible to keep everything fully secret without turning this into a 12 way DM, and I don’t want it to be. Please be respectful. Don’t PM people for information. Do not enter the ghost forum unless you have died. Do not use other people's scenes and conversations, that you were not a part of, to make decisions. Just because you, the player, have access to these things, does not mean your character does. I may occasionally ask your reasons behind actions you take to ensure things are playing out somewhat fairly. This is a game of deception. People are free to lie, and often encouraged to, regardless of alignment. This is also about murders. They won’t be terribly graphic scenes, but your characters will die. This is necessary to advance the narrative and help narrow down suspects. There will be no complaints about either of these things. All characters must be 18+, romance is entirely optional and up to the players themselves. The character sheet can be as brief or as detailed as you’d like, but I do reserve the right to deny or hold off on accepting you if you don’t seem to meet the requirements above. All lines must be filled out in both sheets to be considered. Your selections in the secondary sheet will be taken into consideration and should be in your favor, but are not guaranteed. If you can no longer uphold your character, or you are removed for any reason, and the roleplay is still going strong, I may either retcon a new player to take your place, or take over your character myself, or completely write them out of it to keep the plot going smoothly. No reservations, first come first serve. One character per person unless later stated. Go! Edited at May 27, 2026 04:06 AM by Ellyll0n
