Valencia Cobris-Strix

┗━━━•❃°•°❀°•°❃•━━━┛

Age 25

Alias / Nickname The Lioness / Lion

Gender Female

Role Resistance Member

Unbonded/Bonded Unbonded

Dragon TBD

Appearance

Valencia stands at 5'7", her long legs making up the majority of her body mass. Sun-kissed skin is unblemished by moles and freckles, but in stark contrast to her feminine appearance, a harsh scar cuts down across her body. Begining at her left cheek, it extends down to split over the corner of her bottom lip - giving it an indented appearance, the thick fibrous ropes of scar tissue thickens greatly from here, reaching down her neck. It slices over her throat to the right and dissappears down past her clothes. A small tail of the scar can be seen on her right ankle.

Her body type is very much rectangular, not particularly well endowned in the chest, although Valencia views this as a benefit as she can strap her armour on more secrurely without having to battle any obstacles. Her hips are slightly curved, giving her some shape to the lower section of her body, melting well into her muscular toned legs - trained from gripping her seat on her dragon for the past years throughout training and deployment.

Encircling her head is a thick mane of golden honey hair that glistens in the sunlight. Waved gently, reaching the edge of her shoulder blades, the origin of her alias. Her eyes are wide and lined with thick dark lashes that give a sense of a natural eyeliner. Hazel eyes with a centre of muted green that blends with amber towards the edge, dotted with darker flecks of brown, an often complemented feature. Under the right eye, a small beauty mark marrs the thin skin of her lower eyelid. Behind her pretty eyes, a haziness lingers as though she is staring at something no one else can see. Framing her eyes are dark arched eyebrows, of which the left is nicked by a small silver scar towards its tail.

Typically, she can be found in a white loose linen lace-up shirt with the sleeves pushed up to her elbows. Paired with dark brown leather riding pants that rise high up above her hips and hug her closely. She has various piercings, but they are rarely adorned with anything more than simple silver studs or cuffs, as to prevent any entanglement during a battle.

Personality

Warm | Friendly | Motherly | Fortitude | Forgiving | Loyal | Misty brained | Haunted | Loving | Vibrant | Raucous

Valencia is a bubbly and friendly individual. Drinking, games, conversation is where she thrives. Often found sneaking out from her barracks during her training with Dammon to gorge on the lower city circle's night life. After completing their training, Dammon proposed and Valencia excepted with an elation she could never hope to experience again. They practiced dancing together every night in preperation for their wedding, excited to show their families their progress. Yet, as they began to dream of their futures together, mere weeks later on a recovery mission to collect injured and deceased riders from a border skirmish, Dammon was struck down. A powerful blast descended from the heavens and struck throug Dammon's form, seperating his right arm and severing his head from his torso. A sight that Valencia will never forget, as his hot blood splattered across her skin where she can still feel is hot burning to this day. Days later, their entire legion of riders were attacked and she lost her dragon. The poor woman has not had a moment to rest since losing her fiance and it is going to bubble over eventually.

After this day, Valencia vowed to herself to never let another death occur so close to her. She could have prevented Dammon's death but she froze and could not call her warning out in time and it cost her the world.

Behind her bright hazel eyes, there is a distant stare, as though she is staring through whatever she is looking at - be it living or inanimate. During down time, Valencia finds her hand drawn to the bottle. The languid soothing liquid clears her foggy thoughts of the past, once she has this comfort, Valencia can allow herself to return to her energetic past, brightening the dining hall with laughter and conversation. Which after a particularly tough mission, her squad mates typically appreciate - then again these are new squads.

Strengths & Weaknesses

⨁ Medicinal Knowledge - a vast understanding of remedies and poultices learnt from her fiance Dammon; his family owned an apothacary prior to the increase in dragon skirmishes that left the building flattened by a stray tail during a fight.

⨁ Strong Resolve - even if Valencia's body has reached its limit, she till continue to push through until she has completed her task.

⨁ Loyalty. Valencia is extremely loyal to her close friends, willing to defend them with her life, even if it would cost her life in exchange.

⨂ Sensitive / weak skin in scarred areas. The previous damaged areas are tender and could split open at the seams again if a blow were to hit it in the right spot.

⨂ Drunkard. A thorough enjoyer of entertainment, music and night time escapades, Valencia is often late or completely missing from meetings due to her previous night's activities.

⨂ Flight / Freeze. Under severe circumstances, Valencia will completely freeze during battle, only happening twice in her past. Her team mates had to rip her out of the trance and haul her away to safety on her dragons back.

Magnus Doorne

╰━━━━━∙⋆⋅⋆∙━━━━━╯

Age:

22

Gender:

Male

Bonded / Unbonded

Unbonded - never has in the past either

Role:

Resistance Member

Dragon:

TBD

Appearance:

More human in his presentation, Magnus possesses a warm tan complexion that compliments his light brown eyes. A slight build due to his lack of physical work in his early life, spending the majority of his time running from shopkeepers after he managed to pinch a loaf of bread from their stall. His stamina greatly benefited from his theiving past, gifting him with slender limbs and a litheness he seems to be unware of.

His head is crowned by dark brown curls, usually unkempt in their pattern and arrangement, just long enough to fall into his eyes if he tilts his head just right. The sides shaved close to his skin, almost completely devoid of any visible hair, yet the back of his head is kept the same length as the rest. From either temple, a usually braided long strand of honey blonde hair extends down to his shoulders. If they are ever unbraided, the strands are typically pulled back into his curls with a small band.

His light brown eyes carry a sharpness, rarely moving in smooth arching motions, almost cat like they flick from one object of his attention to the next. They are lined with a standard strip of lashes a shade darker than his hair, not quite black.

Dotted across his nose and forehead is a splattering of freckles, only mildly darker than his skin tone, so they're often missed if you are casually observing Magnus.

He stands at 5'10", yet he is the tallest of his family members, which can sometimes cause many issues with his debauchery.

His voice is rather standard of a man his age, perhaps a little stand offish in its tone the majority of the time.

His scent is a mixture of smoke, cinnamon and vanilla.

...

Personality:

Skeptical | Blase` | Critical | Proud | Moral (of his own flavour) | Intuitive | Observent | Misguided | Quiet |

Under his current circumstances, Magnus is definitely not pleased to be drafted into this death wish training. His hand was forced by his father who has had enough of his thievery and debauchery, believing this training would curb his black sheep son into a respectable citizen by serving his homeland in their war, expecting his son to return with a new out look on life.

His typically quiet natural is often due to his constant observing of the current situation around him, noting each glance, each hitch of breath. A skill he earned by staking out his robbery targets in the main city. If he were to enjoy the company of another being he would reveal his sardonic character and humour, although he doubts any of these "upstanding citizens" that have decided willingly to enter into this training will peak his interest. Socialisation is most definitely not his priority during this training as he suspects a great majority of his new comrades will succumb quickly to injuries in their first back - just as he suspects he too will fall to his demise. Who would want to hedge their bets on a dragon saving a mere human instead of saving their own skin in the heat of battle?

At home, Magus is the eldest son and therefore has the terrible fate of becoming the "man of the house" once his father retires. Retires is a strong term, his father slings herbs he collects in the early morning claiming their powerful healing components instead of getting a real job. When he was 15 he decided to steal a pocket watch from a nobleman in the streets - having succeeded and fenced it for a good sum, he was able to provide his family with good food that week. And thus his kleptocracy was born.

To his core Magnus doubts anyone's survival in this war, even with aid, their small city is going to fall to the enemy and fighting is just prolonging the inevitable. But he supposes there is a slim chance of survival if these teachers are any good. Despite his dismissive attitude towards the cause he is now fighting for, Magnus is not opposed to enjoying the time he has left in this world, a purveyor of books, he is often found with a small tome in his grasp, be it historical, scientific, he will read anything he can get his hands on.

However, when the attack came. He scrambled to get himself out of way, to save his own neck over others. Whether or not that will return to haunt him, he doesn't know. All that matters is that he escaped and found other riders to join, preserving his own life.

Strengths & Weaknesses:

+ Agile

+ Persistent

+ High stamina from his frequent fleeing.

+ Strategist from planning his heists of food, money or goods.

~ Lacks muscle mass

~ Judgemental of himself and others.

~ Indecisive in his plans, overthinking all possible outcomes.

~ Damaged left hand from a disgruntled shop keep that caught him stealing food. The middle and ring finger were crushed with a metal clothing iron, damaging all the tendons so that they cannot extend to allow the fingers to fully articulate.

Finished. Let me know if you'll have me change anything. As a heads up, the final ability may need a nerf though I tried ta make it as balanced as possible.

Oh, and apologies if there's any more biology-centered words in here. I wrote her appearance after a zoology final so that's still fresh in my mind. XD

Deceased. She is quite distraught over this fact.

Appearance:

Credits to dandycoxy on DA. She was bought from a TH clearout here on WP and is not for free use.

Ivara is not your typical storm dragon. Her features are quite the contrary to most’s expectations of the class, setting a whole new precedent rarely observed. Rather than a large and imposing ruler of the skies, she is a smaller and somewhat unassuming creature of the land. Her form is petite compared to most fully grown beasts, shorter than even many of the youngsters who arrive at the academy. She stands around thirteen feet high in total, with long legs keeping her form higher off the ground. At her shoulder, she reaches around 11.5 feet in total – the other 1.5 formulating her neck. Her body length is between a bit under triple her height. She maxes out at thirty one feet in total when completely stretched out. The shortest portion of this, her head and neck, make up 2.5 feet of this length. Ten feet is the estimated measurement for her body, its span being mostly her long spine. The remaining 19.5 feet all goes to her tail.

The dragoness’ structure is long and lithe, flexible in its own right but not in the way commonly perceived. Sleek and graceful movements stem from this as a result, presenting a more majestic and precise air to her than anything else. Her long spine is one of the centermost focuses of this design, pieced together in such a way that it can bend past a point most creatures cannot go. An increase in the length of her stride is that this provides, allowing her to cover large quantities of ground in short spans of time. A broad chest supplies ample room for enlarged lungs and heart, enough to readily supply her body with oxygenated blood. Her muscles, though not prominent, are highly valued and easily observed across her body. They lack the ability to provide a means for any serious feat of physical strength, but are not by any means a weakness. Most of these muscular tissues center around her shoulders, legs, and chest. Her shoulders are particularly muscular, hard to miss with the naked eye and allowing for strong front-leg utilities. Both are adept for running long distances at high speeds, while also remaining capable of maneuvering through rougher terrain. It is quite possible that she is one of the fastest runners within the group, if not the fastest depending on who’s present. Her tail is unusually long and thin, however still quite muscular. It works in a similar manner to that of a cheetah’s, acting as a provider of stability when running. Like her spine, it is immensely flexible which makes swift and wild shifts in its positioning possible. This further permits her to turn rather sharply at high speeds – adjusting as needed without having to halt or stumble over her own paws. Said paws appear to take after those of most canines or a cheetah. They are narrow in shape, providing increased grip and traction with the ground they tread. Digital, metacarpal, and carpal pads are present on each paw – with the latter two working to provide shock absorption and traction respectively. These pads are all thick and able to walk over sharp-ish will a lessened risk for injury. Sharp claws extend from each toe and are only semi-retractable. They too work to provide traction whilst running, but can be a means of attack. Her dew claws, two in total and only located on her front legs, strictly aim to grapple and trip prey in the midst or running. They are sharper and more hooked than the rest of her claws because of this. No amount of scales line for body, fur is the only thing present here. It coats every inch of her body (outside of her claws and teeth) and varies in density depending on the section of her body. It is somewhat lengthy in most areas, holding more fur than most plains-based creatures – like those of her homelands – would have. Though it is not nearly enough for more snow-based biomes. Her tail does shorten its fur’s length by some degree, only to end in a thick tuft of fur at the tip. No wings are present on the female.

At first glance, the storm dragon’s head is often described as “simplistic” in design. Its shape is reptilian or lizard-esk. It moves in a straight line from the top of her head to the point of her snout, lacking the dip at the eyes most mammals possess. This streamline formation lessens the drag air could pose to her whilst running by some degree, preventing her from being slowed down. Her cheeks are relatively fluffy and possess some of the longer fur mentioned before. The rest of her head is slightly shorter and rather smooth to the touch, though soft nonetheless. Her ears are reptilian-like as well, small holes on either side of her head covered by a tympanum (the opaque covering seen in lizard’s ears). They are nigh impossible to spy amongst her fur unless one is actively looking for them. Her nostrils sit towards the tip of snout, around the same positioning as most lizards. They are large and able to provide her lungs with a good quantity of air, though not readily noticeable. Her eyes often appear more rounded but are technically more diamond shaped. Both point forwards and are towards the front of her skull, allowing for more depth perception and the ability to focus on a single point unlike those or prey animals. The pupils of these eyes act like a reptile’s – slitted and widening or narrowing based on light present and emotion. The most noticeable of the more basic features is a distinct lack of horns – nose or otherwise. But that is not what makes this truly remarkable. Her teeth are like few others in the dragon world. They are completely external, with the interior of her mouth being void of any and all of them. Those seen seem to sprout from her jaws. They act in an alternating formation like those of crocodiles and alligators. If there is a tooth on the bottom, there won’t be one directly above it. Like these large reptiles, these teeth are all incredibly sharp and pointed – designed for cutting, gripping, puncturing, and slashing rather than chewing. She will have to tear her meals into smaller chunks to swallow. The most eye-catching of these teeth are the four large fangs. These fangs work in pairs, with two located on either side and are “placed” towards the front of their side. Though, two are a good bit larger than the others. The shorter ones among them start along her top jaw and extend downwards. The larger start along the bottom jaw and move upwards – poking a good inch or so over the top of her snout. At the right angle and lighting, these larger fangs may be mistaken for a true nosehorn. All the teeth are slightly curved backwards in a hook-like motion and are extremely durable. It takes a lot of power to cause them any amount of damage, despite her more lightweight and less-than-durable form. Though they can and will shed at various points in her lifetime to keep them fresh. Their unusual amount of strength grants her the means to constitute a vice-like grip without the fear of them breaking off. This grip is only exemplified by one of her abilities.

The markings and colorations dancing across the pelt of this toothy dragon are fairly beautiful, though odd for a dragon of her class. They are accumulated into numerous shades of brown, some with grayish hues, and white. Its design is completely asymmetrical, though both sides do share similarities at times. Brown is the color most prominent across her fur, shifting in shade along its expanse by a great margin. Around her head, upper neck, tail, and lower legs a darker and duller shade of brown can be observed. Its hue can almost be described as “ashen brown.” That along her tail, however, is a rather short area. Around one third the way down its span, this brown is cut off by a large portion of white hairs – though its foundings are not quite in unison, the upper portion starting well before the lower section (though they do connect). This white moves all the way towards the latest stretch of her tail before cutting off some distance from the tip. Proceeding this are three white rings which make their way to the tip but do not touch it. These rings are cut into by the brown in a few places, or become narrower in some portions. The tuft of fur flowing from the tip is the ashen brown from before. Moving inwards towards her main body, this dull brown fades to a brighter and more lively hue – a rich color with a more orangey tint, though ever slightly. It can almost be described as a warm brown. Starting from just below her right elbow, a grayish hue with some light brown elements wraps up her shoulders. From it sprout multiple branches of the same color, with the largest of these angling to form a blanket along her back. Of the smaller ones at the front only one moves back to join with the blanket-like formation – which actually stemmed off from one of the main extensions. The others simply wrap around her back to go down the other side. On the left side, this marking starts closer to the elbow than the right, but does form similar lines and connects back to the “blanket” with its thickest part. The singular small portion connected to the blanket on this side also connects to the “starting” line and is not a division of one of the initial separations. On both sides, the “blanket” can be seen dipping slightly down to her upper sides. It stops at her hips, nearing her tail but never touching it. Blotches of the same coloration can be found scattered at random along her sides and the front of her chest. With them are blotches of white fur that seem to take up a similar patterning, though are often partially covered by the brownish-gray. The white in particular seems to stray into the blanket’s domain slightly. Along the back of her neck are more speckles of a dark brown like that of dark chocolate – a rich and dark coloration. Just below them at the neck’s bases are two patches of white, one on either side but with the left’s being located lower than the right’s. No white extends towards the middle. The dark chocolate hue above the white is also found on her hind paws and the back of her hind legs. Before this dark chocolate (around the hock joint) and coating all of her front feet is a coating of white. Continuing its expansion, the dark and rich brown finds its way to her head. Here it resides in two main domains. One of these is right over her eyes. Two dark brown patches are located on either side of her head, starting above and behind the eyes. They curve down to the top of her eyes then back to the top-side of her head. A small portion of it also splays back towards the front, above the front part of the eye. A patch of white surrounds the rest of the eye, minus a very small portion of the front-top area. This design is one of the few symmetrical colorations she has. At the snout, some of the dark chocolate decorates the right side. It starts slightly off center, just after her fangs and curves up her face – running against the middle line but not crossing it. It ends slightly into the right side, close to the most forward portion of the chocolate eye marking, in two points almost like a forked tongue. A white marking forms in the middle of this portion, starting along the edge of her lower jaw and running up the marking’s middle. Though it ends long before the actual points. Both of these marks stray slightly into the underside of her jaw but still avoid the left side. The white does “spill over” towards its end. This is not present on her left side. Her eyes are of a stunning hue, almost entrancing in some cases. The inner portion is a vivid violet, worthy of the “electric” title, while around the purple is a ring of light blue, a borderline icy color. The pupils retain their naturally black color. Her teeth are a nearly-black brown and can easily be mistaken for her fur or even a nose horn at the right angle and lighting. Her claws carry the same hue.

The roars, or more accurately calls, of this brown-shaded dragon harbor quite a wide range of rhythms, patterns, and notes to the point it may be difficult to tell that they call came from her. The only possible connection is their more “electrified” backdrops, but that can just as easily be chalked up to her class in general. She has the usual mix of calls – broadcast, friendly, threaten, and danger – but with the addition of a more “distraught” sound. These vocalizations all have their own utilities and purposes. The broadcast is like a lion’s roar or a wolf’s howl – it works to mark out territory and announce her presence within an area. Her broadcast is a call possessing a similar pattern to a scissor-tailed flycatcher’s – a series of sharp notes, rising in pitch and speeding up near its end. Its pitch is noticeably deeper than that of the avian, but similar in sound. However, it does have a noticeable “distortion” to it. The crackling of electricity can be heard underneath each distorted note. A “friendly” call can do one of two things. It can either be a way of wordlessly saying “I come in peace” or act as a, well, friendly greeting. A chirp-like noise like that of a cheetah is the basis for the female’s variation of this call. Its notes, however, are more song-bird-esk – particularly taking after a nightingale. An electrified purr follows this for the duration of the interaction in the case that she knows the individual. The threaten call is likely as simple as it sounds. It’s a warning, a dare for the unwise to test her patience and power. Hers is but a mere growl akin to that of an alligator, though less airy and more defined. The notes take a slightly higher pitch than more aquatic based replite, and are formulated in rapid succession. A warbling sound can be heard in the background of the growl. “Danger” calls work as an alarm system, much like those of the african oxpecker. It is meant to alert allies or other dragons in general to a threat within the area. The call of a killdeer bird with the high pitched crackling of electricity underneath is all her call is. It is a bit hard on the ears, but sure to travel some distance. Finally, “distraught” is yet another straightforward call – mainly used to express her own emotions. It is exemplified by her fear and anguish, truly showing signs of being distraught. The whisper of a bald eagle’s call though slowed and mixed with the more fluid notes of a blackbird is that it will be snagged by someone’s ear when it is emitted. Popping and sizzling can be heard underneath, though one will have to strain to hear it. A longer final note is sustained at the end, often experiencing a large amount of “voice cracks.”

Ivara’s voice is as sleek and smooth as her movements, easy to listen to for those will. Its pitch is on the medium side and does not seem to lean towards the “higher” or “lower” ends. No accent seems to grace her words, or at least not any “foreign” one. Her voice is neither meek nor commanding, just mellow. It can be talked over but is not incapable of talking over others, possessing a more “standard” volume. Her tone is very emotion based, with no one designator linking her different intonations together. However, if notably upset a popping sound can be heard rising up into her speech – like that of electricity.

Abilities:

Much thanks to my physics friend for helping me with these abilities. His scientific knowledge helped wonders.

Static Scaler

Static electricity plays a large role in Ivara’s life. It is the basis for many of her abilities, giving her capabilities most storm dragons the presence of storms for. This ability is no different. Static Scaler is, in a way, her replacement for wings. By utilizing her own static electricity (typically created by her rubbing against things else or against her own fur, or even being struck by another electrical force) she can climb walls as though defying gravity. In other words, she scales them in a more vertical manner either by running or walking up them. To her, it is as though she were walking on flattened ground. What causes this is the opposing changers present in the interaction being attracted to one another – a form of magnetism. It also works like a sort of battery. The more she climbs, the more static she loses, and the less likely she is to continue to stick to the surface. If something of a stronger opposite charge as to what she’s climbing comes near, she could very well be drawn off her present surface. When in use, her fur will stand up when this ability, causing her to become an elongated form of fluff. As all things with high amounts of static electricity, it is possible for those that touch to get shocked. However, these shocks are never life threatening. It will feel the same as the shock one gets on occasion when attempting to touch metal.

Electrostatic Field

The dragoness usage for static electricity, as one would expect, does not end there. A secondary static-based ability, Electrostatic Field, requires its presence to act in a more defensive manner rather than convenience. With this power, Ivara can create an area effect around her body – extending to the sides around two thirds the length of her body, and around the same height as her up into the sky and down into the ground. The static electricity used is gathered from the surrounding area, moving from the ground into her or from her into the ground (depending on where the change would be more attracted to). The resulting build up spurs jolts of electricity to spike up from the ground and off her teeth, legs, and tail. These bolts cause audible pops – the singular warning one would receive for the rising danger. Those that come into contact with her or stem from her tend to cause a small amount of pain. One can often see minute flinches come from her whenever this occurs. If any creature were to enter the area, they would be promptly struck by a bolt of black lightning. The shock itself would cause an immense amount of pain to the inflicted individual and does not subside until a good few seconds later. The closer their proximity to the area, the longer it takes to wear off. A fairly deep burn can be found both on the foot nearest to the area affected as well as the sight where the bolt struck them. If one is unlucky enough to be inside of it, they will be repeatedly shocked. Their burns would be located wherever the bolt entered and exited from. If the being is small enough, they will be temporarily paralyzed so long as the area is up and running. This ability can strike multiple individuals at once, so long as they are close to the effect’s premise. But not without cost. For each creature struck, the charge of the area will be greatly diminished and will take a few minutes to build back up. If too many are struck at once or in rapid succession, Ivara will be unable to keep up with the ability and it will dissipate. This can be used against her if one possesses a highly conductive metal. The field, in general, takes some time to build up to full power – around five minutes or so. Any power loss from strikes can be regained but not quickly. It is also quite taxing on her own energy. A sustained area effect takes effort and energy to uphold, with any outside attack striking her being enough to shatter its force. Attacks, however, must be sent from outside this range to be effective and cannot be liable to be affected by the lightning. Though, some residual electricity may remain for a short span of time in this case. Approaching her immediately is not recommended. The requirement for her to be stationary is another downside to this ability. While small flinches and motions from her stationary body are fine, repositioning is not. Doing this is a taxing and unwise feat. Though possible, adjusting her position – such as walking towards a new spot for a better angle – will break the steady stream of charge to the area. The only way to build it up once again is to hold still once more.

If someone is touching her when she uses this ability, they will be mostly fine – experiencing a minimal amount of small and sharp bolts, almost like they were being shocked when reaching for metal (like her prior ability). However, never let go. Those who relinquish their touch will be hit with the full force of the area effect, and may be repeatedly struck. They could very well die. Having another individual in the “circle” will make it harder to maintain, so it can only be reasonably done in a pinch.

Jaw Lock

An unusual ability for a harbor of electricity, and likely one none would expect. Ivara has the unique capability of turning her own element against herself. She is shockingly able to electrocute her own jaw with repeated localized jolts of energy. While this may sound counterintuitive, there is a point to it. These rapid shocks will cause her jaw to either harshly snap shut or lock itself in place. This makes her already devastating bite vice-like and nigh impossible for any human to pry off. Even many dragons may struggle to remove her from their scales. Targeting her teeth will likely end poorly as well, their more durable formation being hardy enough to withstand a lot of harsh blows and jerky movements. As such, this is typically utilized immediately after she bites down so she is difficult to remove and hard to hit by those she attacks – all the while applying large amounts of damage to the unfortunate victim. However, in this state she is completely vulnerable to outside attacks. Due to the shocks, she cannot readily let go of her prey or opponent, and the effects must wear off with time. Meaning that she will be unable to dodge any attack in a timely manner let she attempt to drag or maneuver whatever she has grasped. She must be wise and calculated with this ability’s usage.

Cauterized Shock

A healing ability of sorts, though most prominently used to buy some time for the wounded. By localizing repetitive small shocks to her claw tips, she can cauterize wounds – halting profuse bleeding with a good number of electrical jolts. This is most effective on smaller and shallow injuries, with larger wounds taking a much greater amount of energy, electricity, and time to fully cauterize. If it is too deep into the skin or even too large, the wound will be impossible to “heal” by this method. Her claws must be directly over the wound for electricity to be transferred and the bleeding stopped.

Buzzing Arrow

A more breath-based ability, though quite unique in its own manner. It works as a shot rather than a stream – a charge projectile formed within her mouth and building up over a good few seconds. Its medium is her own saliva. Without it, the projectile would not make it past her mouth and the electricity would dissipate. Upon leaving her mouth, the projective takes on an arrow-shaped form – like those of archers. It travels at high speeds, making it difficult to dodge for even some of the faster beings around. This also allows it to be quite precise, seldom missing marks by more than a hair’s length. However, it is not necessarily powerful. Its power is much less than that of her area effect but still strong enough to leave a good burn mark – with her saliva evaporating on contact. Along with this will come a bruise or piercing damage, being able to damage that under the skin if one is not protected enough. Generally, this is not enough to kill anyone. It mostly exists to be a distraction and an annoyance to foes, on top of causing more minor injuries. In the wild, the threat of injury is enough to deter most reasonable souls. However, if she hits the right unprotected area, it can lead to death. But that has rarely happened. The lesser amount of power present makes it possible to use it in somewhat quick succession, but there is a limited shot count – around 10 to 15 in total. She will have to recharge for more shots. This happens gradually over time, but can be sped up by the creation of static electricity or the absorption of electricity from storms. The static tends to take longer and cannot stem from the usage of her other abilities minus one.

Explosive Conduit

This ability is much unlike the dragoness’ other ones. It poses a slightly new case for her due to one simple fact: she doesn’t yet know of its existence. At least not truly. To her mother’s side of the family, this power is thought to be an heirloom – passed down at random to their offspring. All of them know of its existence, but none have described it to her aside. She mainly knows that she has the potential to carry it, but doubts that possibility due to her father’s class (her mother being the first to choose a mate outside the storm class). Otherwise, all she knows is that it acts like a ring of electricity wrapped around some part of the body. Her mother was around her tail. Ivara’s will eventually wrap around her neck. This ring is this ability, but it plays more than one role.

It works in a partially defensive and practical manner, with one usage allowing for the other. The defensive side, though set to protect her, does work in a more offensive manner. During high stress scenarios, she can emit a sudden shock wave across the surrounding area – traveling out from her body. It is incredibly dangerous to touch, electrocuting all things that do not move from its path. The further it gets from her, the more it dissipates. It acts with very little accuracy, simply acting as a more unified and very temporary “dome” than anything else and relying solely on its broad range to do anything. It can hit both air-born and land-based individuals, but cannot strike those underneath her. Those behind other objects (walls, trees, rocks, etc) will remain safe as well so long as the substance is not conductive. The wave is also relatively slow moving. If one turns and high-tails it in the opposite direction, there is a chance they may avoid its blast. Those hit will suffer high amounts of damage, with smaller organisms or those weak to her element being close to knocking on death’s door by the end of it. Dragons and taller humans will not usually have to worry about death. There is little to no warning for this ability but not none. At its first usage, it had three main signifiers that lasted only a couple of seconds. The first was the appearance of a “ring.” This ring resides around her neck and is formulated of highly charged black lightning. It is the main source of power being this ability. Following its appearance, the increasing sound of popping and movement speed of the ring’s lightning. Then, finally, the shock wave. After this first usage, only the latter two signifiers will occur. The ring will remain present after its initial debut. However, due both in part to this short warning (in other words, short build-up time) and the sheer amount of power this possesses, Ivara will be harmed greatly as a result. This could very well kill her as a result.

Outside of this, the ring acts more accurately and properly acts as a conduit for her other powers – storing excess electricity she creates. It acts just as the element, though still a more controlled circle of electricity. It is still naturally attracted to conductive things and will try and balance out their charges if possible. Best to avoid approaching it with metal, lest it strike out. Any strikes it causes will drain it, much like her field ability. Once obtained, it can power most of these abilities but naturally has a limited supply. The creation of her own static electricity being one manner to restore whatever power is lost, the other being lightning strikes. If she is struck by lightning, this ring will absorb its power and contain it. The shock wave it causes is merely the release of the mass amount of energy it holds, and will become a last ditch effort to take out powerful threats. Its appearance will wane for some time afterwards. The more electricity is stored, the more power it has, and the more damage it does. However, the more power it has, the more deadly it is to herself.

Other:

- Ivara’s lightning is uncharacteristically black, as though made from the shadows themselves. No one truly knows why this occurs, but most chalk it up to her father’s dark-type class.

- Ivara and her rider were once considered to be one of the closest duos of the academy. The two were practically inseparable, always around each other so long as they were in a place that both could reside and speaking through their bond when they couldn’t. It is a shame that their bond had to end in this manner.

- Though she cannot move as swiftly as a cheetah, the storm dragon’s land-based speed is difficult to rival by most dragons.
