TL:DR: she has brown hair (with one streak of green) and brown/viridian eyes, but when light shines on her hair, the light is reflected as minty seafoam (so if the light was golden sunlight, it would still show as light green in her hair), and her hair looks less like normal hair and more like paintbrush strokes. This is caused by her being so far away from her mountain, and she’s insecure about it.
Clove stands at an unimpressive height of 5’3”, with her build being neither petite nor muscular. Her eyes appear to be a soft coffee brown, but upon closer inspection, the irises actually fade from brown to minty viridian. Oddly enough, her hair seems to have a “painted” quality to it, as if the strands were calligraphy brush strokes, flowing water, or curling clouds. Her hair, which is almost always coiled in a messy bun or tied up in a ponytail, is a mahogany brown color that fades into a caramel brunette, although there is one unnaturally vivid streak of evergreen fading into seafoam. When her hair is exposed to light, they become even more “painted” and unnatural, and the light shines as the minty seafoam color on her hair regardless of what color the light actually is. Clove’s entire figure looks like a shanshui painting, from the way her hair flows like water to the alpine greenery in her eyes. Her delicate hands, used both for scaling mountains and for crafting delectable dishes, are nimble and capable, although her nail-biting habit hasn’t allowed her for her nails to grow out too much. She tends to dress in comfortable and breathable clothing, and her default outfit is some sort of casual blouse with long and flowy sleeves along with dark pants, and, for some reason, a mandatory jacket of some sort - it’s clear to everyone that Clove isn’t the best at dressing in suitable clothing for hotter weather, but she doesn’t seem to mind. Due to her odd physical qualities, she is almost always mistaken for a water or earth fairy who always glamours her wings, and she intends to keep it that way.
Biography:
TL;DR: she disappointed both of her parents and because she’s too far from her mountain, her body is becoming weirder lol
Clove was born as “Sanbao”, the fourth eldest child to a shanshen father and a human mother faraway in distant lands. She has a (nearly) identical twin sister nicknamed Parsley, who is practically her younger clone except for her hair streak being yellow rather than green. Her human mother, a restaurant owner, taught everyone in the family the delicate culinary art of her family. Her father had multiple abilities, and each of his children inherited one or two of them.
Because her father was a shanshen, he was unable to leave his respective mountain, Mount San, due to his life force and powers being tied to said mountain, Clove and her siblings always had to switch between living with their parents, but never both at once. Her mother had always wanted her children to keep running the restaurant, while her father wanted to have one of his offspring cultivate to become a shanshen like him. Clove later discovered that this “cultivation” method was either merely a myth or incredibly difficult, and although she was talented in cooking, she always wanted to travel the world instead. After one particularly heated argument between multiple of her siblings and her parents, Clove fled the scene to avoid becoming more emotional. Parsley attempted to chase after her, but failed. Since then, Clove has been finding a sanctuary where she can learn about the outside world, but due to being so far from Mount San, her body is seeing odd physical changes (such as her strange hair), and she has to resist the urge to return to her mountain.
Personality:
In general, Clove is pretty humorous and likes to take things easy - however, because of this, she also tends to avoid situations that may stress her, also making her miss out on a lot of opportunities. While she doesn’t have difficulty interacting with others, she prefers being alone or hanging out with a smaller group of friends. She has a great sense of humor, although she occasionally leans into dark humor. Clove is pretty perfectionistic in all subjects except for cooking, believing that when it comes to culinary arts, flexibility is encouraged. She likes to go over-the-top for the sake of others, and due to this stress, she often fails to fulfill promises. Clove takes pride in her cooking and is open to criticism but not insults, and she enjoys sharing her food with others. When she’s not holed up in her dorm room, you can find her exploring the local environment and find her in usually unreachable locations, such as rooftops. She is very insecure about her unusual physical appearance (mostly her hair, which almost appears similar to strokes of paint or clouds, and her strange eyes), so she doesn’t tell anyone what species she is and allows them to assume that she’s a fairy of some sort.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
Strengths:
- Culinary arts. Clove is talented in cooking and has extensive knowledge on all sorts of recipes, ingredients, seasonings, and health benefits of food.
- Knowledge of plants. Clove grew up in an environment that was very closely tied with nature.
- Climbing. Clove is particularly good at climbing steep or otherwise untraversable areas, and is able to do so relatively quickly and without losing too much energy.
- Exceptional stamina. While Clove didn’t inherit her father’s strength, she did end up with a divine amount of stamina, which aids her climbing ability.
- Healing/regeneration. Although limited, Clove can, to some extent, make injuries heal faster and relieve pain.
- Plant flourishment. Clove can allow plants to grow faster and give them nutrients, as well as change a few of their properties (usually to make them more flavorful).
- Earth manipulation (not really). Clove was once able to move rocks and dirt slightly to aid her climbing, but now that she’s been gone from Mount San for so long, this ability is practically useless now.
Weaknesses:
- Health issues. Because Clove is so far from Mount San for an extended amount of time, her body, which is somewhat bound to the mountain, is undergoing physical changes that may potentially affect her health. Even her healing abilities cannot remedy this.
- Self-image issues. Clove has seen her body go through these changes and is insecure about her appearance, fearing that others may notice. Hence, she prefers to pretend to be a fairy to dispel suspicions, although she would definitely get caught if she was asked to use her glamour.
- Combat. She basically knows nothing about self-defense and prefers to use the old-fashioned method of fleeing the scene.
- Limited abilities. Due to her distance from Mount San, her abilities have gradually become more limited over time, with some disappearing altogether.
- Her nails. She bites them too much lol
