After Varsha huddled the brats into the cove, their mother returned and Varsha's chore to protect them was finished. So with it, the damsel had fled back to her den, thoughts swirling and mind meandering elsewhere.
But when dawn had risen, the welkin daubed in hues of orange, pink, and purple, the atmosphere was merely frigid and the foliage that was dribbled in dewdrops glistened in the early morning glare. It was a time when Varsha could awaken out of her deep slumber and settle at the edge of the cobblestone rock of the vast campground with her nose positioned vertically in the air, tasting the odors of the morning.
Scanning the terrain, the wolves once again, began meandering out of their dens, preparing for another day. Whilst Varsha patiently sat there, waiting until the mother of that litter fled, again.

Ahrin was calm. He waited, looking at the Alpha tell every single wolf what to do, and calling him last.
"Ahrin, today you will hunt in the west side. The patrols smelled more prey there"
Ahrin felt his heart float. That was where he saw the wolf the day before. Maybe he had another chance to see her.
He went outside the camp, following the prey's smells. He went calmly into a random direction until he felt the most recognizable smell for him: pheasants. He started to follow the trail, looking around.

Once Varsha slid down the mere hillside, meandered further into the campground, her figure huddled briskly before approaching the den of a mender.
With the stillness of the looming groves encircling her, the damsel trotted with a sense of ambition towards the entrance of the den, her cranium tipped high and her movements fluid.
The lair was coddled in a smallish clearing encircled by soaring timbers, their gnarly branches stretching towards the cloudless welkin. The entrance was partially shrouded by a viscous layer of vines and leaves, providing a sense of solitariness and seclusion. The burrow itself was a miniature, restful slot with just enough room for a household of canines to call home.
It was evident that this shelter was well cared for and protected by those who lived within it.

As the damsel approached, the sound of bristling leaves coming from inside the cave made her halt for a moment, listening intently before calling out in a silky, delicate tone.

"Hello there, is anyone home?"

A moment perished before a canine occurred from the hole, their fur elegant and glistening in the filtered sunshine. Varsha in an instant recognized the brute. A savvy, valuable mender in the pack.

"Hello," the canine responded in a warm tone. "It's good to see you again."

The two canines stood there, their bodies nonchalant and at relaxation. They were clearly relaxed in each other's presence, and their body language reflected this. Varsha's tassel swished gently, and her ears fluttered up in interest. Whilst the other canine's figure was also consoled, and his tassel waggled in response to Varsha's greeting.

"How are the mothers doing?" Varsha questioned, shattering the silence.

The brute's face softened as he replied. "They're doing well, thank you for asking. They're staying close to the cave these days, but they seem satisfied and healthy."

Varsha nodded, a diminutive grin plastering at the corners of her mouth. "I'm glad to hear that. Please send them my regards."

The two canines continued to chitchat for a while longer, their conversation moving effortlessly from one topic to the next.
As they talked, their sentiments became more apparent. They were clearly elated to be in each other's company, and their voices were replenished with warmth and tenderness. They uttered about their lives, their broods, and the world around them, their words punctuated by the occasional laugh or impish nudge. The ambiance around them was tranquil and serene. The woodland was humming with the sound of birds warbling and the rustling of leaves in the current.
The light filtering through the timbers was dull and golden, casting a warm glow over everything around them. The lair itself was a cushy and inviting space, filled with the scent of the canines who lived within it. And as the conversation drew to a close, Varsha thanked the brute for her time and turned to leave. The brute observed her flee, his expression one of contentment and enjoyment. Varsha trotted away from the cave, her heart full and her mind at ease. She knew that she would return soon, to talk and share stories with her fellow canines once again.

Ahrin had searched for her. He couldn't blame it. But he found nothing, she wasn't anywhere near where she was the other day.
"You couldn't be with her anyway, she's from another pack, and your role don't allow you to have mates from another pack" a little voice in his head said. But he wanted to know her.
He was never like the wolves who absolutely want a mate, but he couldn't blame wanting someone to love and a family.
With sadness in his eyes he went back hunting.

Amongst the foliage, a juvenile could be seen rambling haphazardly, completely oblivious to the peril that lay around every junction. The brat was remote and sheathed in a satiny, downy fur, with giant irises that glimmered in the fleeting light.
As the brat chased after a butterfly, darting back and forth and pouncing on it with glee, Varsha emerged from the shadiness of the scarce woodland. She was much larger than the brat and her presence was imposing, and the brat froze in apprehension at the sight of her.

"Little one, what are you doing out here?" Varsha snarled, her tone stern and unyielding. "You know how treacherous it is to roam away from the cave on your own."

The brat mewled, its tassel tucked between its limbs as it cowered in front of the damsel. It knew it had made a mistake, but it couldn't resist the allure of the butterfly and the latitude of the woodland.

Varsha soughed chestily, her expression softening just a fraction.

"Come here, little one," she said, beckoning the brat over with a nudge of her nose. "I won't scold you anymore, but you must promise me that you won't leave the cave again without an adult by your side."

The brat compliantly tailed after Varsha back toward the cave, its small limbs stumbling to keep up with the larger wolf's pace. As they strolled, the sceneries and aromas of the woodland began to shift, and the brat realized just how far it had strayed from the safety of the hole. The fragrance of pine and moist earth was bounteous in the air, and the sound of distant birdsongs reverberated in the background.
A delicate draft bore the vague scent of prey, and the brat's mouth watered at the thought of a meal. But it knew that it was still too young and inexperienced to hunt on its own, and it would have to rely on the adults in the pack for food and protection. At last, they arrived back at the cave, where the rest of the pack had gathered to await their return. The brat's mother nuzzled it lovingly, relieved to see that her little one was safe and sound. And as the brat settled back into the warmth of the hole, it knew that it would always be protected and cared for by the pack, no matter how treacherous the grove may be.

Ahrin was clamly walking in the camp. It wasn't the first time he was thinking more then walking, but someone did notice his feelings somehow. "Ahrin? Everything fine?" his mother asked worried. "Yeah. I was just thinking" he answered looking at her. She wasn't that young anymore, but she still had life and pride in her eyes. "I'll go sleep a bit" he said and went to the caves. He feel asleep almost immediatly.

Varsha made her way into her lair. Inside, the cave was warm and cozy, with soft bedding made from leaves and fodder. The barriers were lined with fur from the previous hunts, providing insulation and a familiar aroma.
And as Varsha settled down, she let out a resonant exhale, the weariness from the indolence taking hold of her.
Varsha closed her eyes and let her thoughts drift. She was appreciative of her position. She knew that she had the commitment to take care of them, to lead them to safety in treacherous situations. The ambiance of the cave was tranquil, with the sound of delicate breathing and the occasional snore from Varsha's slumbering physique. The odor of fur and earth sufficed her nostrils, a fragrance that was both familiar and comforting.
A mere slumber midst the afternoon glare made her feel a sense of contentment washing over her. She was home, surrounded by her pack, safe and sound. And for now, that was all that mattered.

Ahrin woke up with a big feeling of hope. It wasn't unusual, it happened every time he was excited for something. He was really hoping to meet her again. "What a fool, you still believe in pup stories?" the voice said into his mind, but he ignored it.
"New day, new possibilities!" he thought going outside.
It was raining, the only climate that made hunting literally impossible. The brutal rain was the only thing able to fully remove scents, something that even the snow never did.
"Ahrin" a voice said. He turned around to see Spei, one of his littermates.
"Hey Spei! Nice to see you again" he said. The brothers didn't see eachother a lot, especially after Spei was made herbalist of the pack. "I just wanted to tell you something that probably you already guessed: because of the rain you have a free day" his brother said. "Yeah, I guessed. I think I'm going for a walk" Ahrin answered. "Have a nice walk! If you find any herb bring it to me" Spei finished smiling.
Ahrin started to run in the woods. He wanted to see her again.

Varsha's breathing was sluggish and unchanging, whilst her mind was thoroughly clueless about what was happening outside. And the sudden blunt yelp reverberating through the campsite, caused Varsha to jolt awake. Her slits snapped open, and she looked around frantically, trying to figure out what had happened. The cry sounded like a brat in despair, and Varsha's maternal instincts kicked in instantly.
Without a moment's hesitance, the damsel bolted out of the cave and steered toward the sound of the cry. But once Varsha got closer, she could scent the unmistakable odor of blood in the air. Her heart pounded in her chest as she realized that something was terribly wrong. When Varsha finally arrived at the scene, she witnessed a cluster of older juveniles standing over a miniature cub, who was blubbering in discomfort. It was clear that the cub had been trampled, and the older canines had no idea what they had done. Varsha scurried over to the wounded cub, nudging it gently with her nose.
She could feel its smallish figure trembling, and her heart broke at the sight. The other wolves in the pack gathered around, inquisitive about what was happening.
The ambiance was apprehensive, as the canines stood in a spiral, observing Varsha tend to the wounded cub. The pack's alpha brute ambled forward, his massive frame towering over the others. He sniffed the cub, then turned to the other canines, snarling chestily. Varsha continued to oversee the cub, licking its wounds and trying to ease its discomfort. She knew that it would take time for the cub to recover, but she was clinched to do everything in her ability to make sure that it survived.

Ahrin was running in the rain. Once he recognized the place as the same of the one he had meet her the first time he started to slowly walk to the den. But she wasn't there. The rain made impossible to find or recognize any kind of smell, so he was going around quite randomly, but he didn't find anything. Fastly his emotion went from hope to sadness. He was probably going to never see her again. So he started to go away, walking, letting the rain wash his fur.
