She stretched her legs out trotting to a more secluded area of the territory glad to get some fresh air away from her tribe, Valak sat down to observe her surroundings listening to the sounds of birds and the light breeze. |

My legs grew weak with exhaustion, It felt as if we had been walking for a week straight. Naomi's voice was growing more irritating with every step. Why does she feel the need to speak five words every second, does she not realize that Dorian hates it as well. Flirting so openly in the band makes me sick, I regret letting her in. I haven't seen a moment Naomi hasn't been attached to Dorian's hip.
Physical exhaustion I can push through, mental exhaustion however is weighing me down to much to continue. I'd like to make it further then the Golden Hills, but this will have to do.
"Alright, that's it. Start putting tents up. Rowan if you'd please find some sticks for a fire. Zemira we will need a good sized hole for the fire and some stones. Everyone else help where help is needed. Day light is burning, Ill go scout." Hopefully that was strong willed enough, and my exhaustion didn't seep into my voice as it has my muscles. I've learned a lot since joining this band, just not enough to lead it.
Damn it Amren, why me.
I can take as many steps I need in order to distance myself from the chaos we've become. A light breeze ruffles through my pelt, with my weak state it almost felt as though it was pushing me. Then curiosity took hold allowing that breeze to push me closer and closer to the tree line, until it stopped.
I stumbled a bit like a fawn standing for the first time, realizing how foolish I had been spacing out that way. I could hear Amren's voice, scolding me, in the back of my head. Little things he has said to me, that I didn't hear in those moments. I should've known this was coming. Why am I so clueless, I could've listened more. I should've, maybe then I would know why I'm here. Why it was me.
I shook my head hoping the thoughts would fade. I had gone way further then I expected. It was to silent, eerie almost.
I turned to head back through the golden grass when a crack from the woods caused me to swing around. I lowered my head to scan the tree line, ready to grab my knife. Scanning the area the noise came from, I see nothing until a shadow of a wolf with its back turned to me caught my attention.
"Who goes there!" I screamed out, with a growl.
My eyes widened to the face that turned back at me..
Amren...
It was him. That's his smile. His eyes.
My muzzle laid slack, every word I wanted to say escaping before I could form them. I didn't want to move, or make a sound. Scared this moment would flee me. Then he turned from me and ran.
"NO! WAIT! PLEASE!!"
My muscles ached, but I couldn't ...
I cant let him leave again.
I pushed as hard as I could to catch up, carelessly running after him. Is this the border of the Cairn Tribe? Why is he here? Branch after branch smacked me as I pushed further. So many scents passing me, but none of them were his.
Where did he go... Please don't leave..
My legs were giving up, I cant keep going.
Every step feels lighter, like its not making contact.
The light is fading ...
I can't stop...
***CRASH***

Valak jumped at the sudden noise, "what in the- "she turned on her heel heading toward the cause of said noise. She picked up on a scent that was unfamilar and then she saw it, an unfamilar wolf laying there. She trotted over glancing them over, gently nudging thorn with her nose. |

A darkness consumed me, before the light slipped in. Slowly as if caressing my body gently. The warmth from a fire and its whimsical crackling. Familiar voices hummed a distant tune and as I opened my eyes there he was.
Amren...
Anger bubbled inside of me, forming questions. Why did you run? Where did you go? When did you get back? Why me?
All the questions I wanted answers to, every strong emotion behind it trying to push them out. Yet nothing would come out.
I swallowed hard, praying it would push them back down.
I look up, met with his welcoming smile. I smiled back at him and it felt as if every stress I had faded. My words formed easily now.
"I've missed you." I choked a bit as the knot in my throat formed. No I can't cry. He needs to know I've been strong, what am I doing.. The tears came in a flood, His face was unchanged. Still smiling like the father he has been to me. I waited for what felt like years before he spoke. His words were all I needed, to prove this wasn't a dream. His voice as deep and warm as I remembered.
"I know it hurts kid, but listen I'm here. Anytime you need to talk, you know that. Chin up. The night is dark.." He smiled as I finished his sentence for him.
"But the sun will rise again." My eyes dropped as I finished the last words of his motto.
It has felt like the sun would never rise again. Ever since... He left. Does he know that? Why can't I ask him the questions I need to, is this world so fragile. This world. I started to look around. I've been here. Is it a memory.
Wait.
No.
I have to ask! Panic consumed me as I tried everything I could to push the words I needed to out, but nothing would. Except for..
"Why?" My eyes widened. I did it!
I meet his eyes eager for any answer...
"Are you okay?" He asked
What?! The light started to dim and everything became blurred.
"Are you okay?"
"Wait!! Don't.. go.."
I jumped from the ground heart racing, the woods. I'm back here. Wait. Did I ever leave? Was I dreaming? As my senses slowly came back to me, a close scent hit me. Who? I spun around head down and fur on end.
"Who are you!" I said as my eyes slowly started to take them in in the fading light of the sun setting. Do I know this wolf? Why do they look so familiar.

She jumped slightly at the reaction "uh- my name's valak- who are you?" She said voice riddled with curiousity. She tilted her head at her trying to see if she recognized her at all. |

Where am I? Where is the band? How long have I been gone?
Questions swirled around my head over and over.
My vision was still foggy, but there was no denying how much this young wolf looked like Torr.
Her name is Valak. I raised my head and lowered my hackles. She looked to sweet to fear. Her eyes seemed to have innocence, and she reeked of a tribe, Cairn member I'd bet. I shook my head at her presence. Cutting my eyes at her I replied.
"Who I am doesn't matter. If you could just point me in the direction of the Golden Hills. It would seem I took a wrong turn."
Daylight was fading, They will be worried were I wandered to. UGH. What excuse can I make up. Ill hear about this for days. |
