Nikki Shanora
Nikki’s ears were filled with a long eerie ring, which quickly woke her up. She leaned onto her right elbow, and opened her eyes to reveal dark brown eyes. She turned the loud alarm clock off with a simple press. She forgot to turn the alarm clock off the day before, and of course she regretted it. *It’s supposed to be the day I can sleep in, not the day to so rudely interrupt my sleep.* She grumbled, she didn’t want want to wake up her family, that would not be a fun experience to go through… again. Nikki got to her feet, and she changed into her usual blue sweater and dark green pants. After making her bed, she walked to the bathroom, after brushing her teeth and hair she went down to the kitchen.
Nikki opened the stainless still fridge, funny name stainless, what bongos came up with this naming stuff? She thought to herself. She then searched for something very specific, which her eyes quickly found the plastic box she was looking for. *Yesterday’s leftovers.* She mumbled to herself, as she set the box down on the marble counter. She then took the lid off. then spun around, not even taking a glance a the food the box contained. She then flung open the cabinet with one swift movement. Once she finished eating. Her father had already woken up, and had a long talk with Nikki.
*Flashback*
*So me, and your mother will be going out of town tonight and get back next Tuesday.* My father said, Nikki looked up from her food, to her father who was sitting across from her. *Okay.* She clearly didn’t care about the conversation, she was having with her father.
*End of flashback*
Nikki sat on the broken down swing, that was on the porch of her parents house. The brick wall protected her from the wind, which she was glad about. As it wasn’t one of those warm mornings in Canada. I need to talk to the guys, and Tessa. She thought as she pulled out her phone, her father had also told her not to do anything with her friends when her parents where gone. Of course she promised, but did he actually believe her? Nikki went to the text page and clicked her group chat, The four monikers. Calico had picked the name, which the group chat had four people in it. Herself, Tessa, Calico and James.
"Hey guys, so my parents are going out of town this afternoon, I was wondering if y’all would like to do something later tonight?”
Nikki hopes for a reply sooner then later, though it was 9 Am. They probably didn’t turn their damn alarm clock on, and wasn’t woken up in deep sleep. Oh how she hated herself for that mistake, but she knew never to tell anyone.
I was already made fun of enough in the school I go to, I don’t need to be called 'Sleeping beauty' along with other names everyone calls me by. Nikki thought to herself
Calico Klaxon
The sun poured into Calico’s room, which slowly woke the sleepy boy up. He had been nicknamed a Vampire due to his hate of bright lights, also known as the sun. His eyelids fluttered opened, and he let out a long yawn. He got to a sitting position, and checked the time on his alarm clock. He red 9:30 am, he sighed.
*Whats wrong little guy? Not a morning person?*
Calico turned around immediately, he saw his sister standing in the doorway. Arms crossed he said, *Get lost Abby.* He wasn’t happy, nor sounded happy in the least. Let’s just say Calico’s sister was his rival. She always seemed to try and be better at everything Calico did, and would act like his friend, and when no ones was around she was a complete jerk to him.
Just as Calico was about to speak, *Abigail come help me with setting the table!* Their Mother called, Abigail smirked, but Calico didn’t see one thing funny about this all. She shot a glare at Calico, before heading down stairs, and disappearing to help their Mother.
How Calico wished to be a lonely child, but instead he had to be the least favorite in his family. He let out a long sigh, then he walked over to the door that separated his room from the staircase. In one swift movement he closed and locked the door, then walked over to his closet and got dressed in his usual white t-shirt and light gray jeans.
Calico then walked over to his desk that was in the corner of his room, and put on his rope bracelet. He then walked out of his room, and to the bathroom, where he brushed his teeth and hair. He also put his contacts in. Yes he couldn’t see well without them, he had started losing his vision due to a skate park accident when he was fairly young.
Calico walked down stairs, he was greeted by his sisters death stare. He easily ignored it, due to his senses were quickly overwhelmed with a smell of eggs, and bacon, how he loved bacon. *What smells so good?* He asked, as he walked over to the fridge, his right hand pulled on the refrigerator door handle, and in a matter of seconds the door flung open. His eyes quickly found the carton that of filled with orange juice, *Eggs and bacon.* His mother had successfully put a smile, on the boy who rarely smiled.
Calico walked over to the table, and he poured the orange juice in the tree cups that sat in their spots on the wooden table. After Calicos mother had finished cooking breakfast. *So I’m going to go on a trip for the weekend, and I’ll be leaving later.*
Calico chocked on his food, *What?* he asked, not knowing if he heard his mother right. *I need you both to care for the dog.* He nods, he already did so it didn’t matter
to him.
Calico grabbed his phone from his pocket, he then saw he had two notifications. One from his dad texting him, and the other from the group chat. He opened the group chat one, he honestly could care less about reading his dads texts. He was probably drunk again.
Calico read, "Hey guys, so my parents are going out of town this afternoon, I was wondering if y’all would like to do something later tonight?”
"I mean my mother is leaving at two, so I wouldn’t mind doing something."
