Jason took a half step back in surprise, "Woah!" He hadn't heard an animal's thoughts before. Maybe it was a magical energy and being? Jason crouched down, casting a glance at the door before closing it, "You know Addilyn?" The cat was a curious creature. Perhaps he could find some answers here.
Michael got in the passenger seat seat once everyone stopped crowding the van. He had made sure Alex was really okay before getting in, but he still looked at her every so often.

The cat spun around just as he began to walk away. The Russian Blue stared intensely into Jason's eyes. Who was this guy? He held a faint trace of magic...perhaps he was just a magic user and not a witch which would explain it. "Huh, so it can understand me..I mean you can understand me. Sorry, no one has spoken to me in years. I am not used to this interaction. You are a mind reader yes? Interesting.. and of course I know Addilyn you halfwit! She is my master, my best friend, see?" With his last words a mark appeared on his forehead. It changed his fur color to create an image of a sunset. The oranges and purples making Addilyn's favorite colors. The cat gave the young man in front of him a tiny grin. "She accepted me. What about you? How do you know my Addilyn?" The cat's blue-green eyes stared deep into the blue ones in front of him. |

Jason would be lying if he said he was resisting the urge to flop on the ground. Instead he sat down slowly, "Well... I'm her boyfriend. Or I was, at least. She's probably pretty pissed at me right now," Jason lowered his voice, "Any chance Jolon can hear us in this room?" |

The cat slowly sat down himself, tucking its paws underneath it. It looked down as the sunset on his head faded and the mark disappeared entirely. It took him a moment to reply, his ears swiveling around the room and a blue glow escaped his eyes. "That man was never allowed in this room in the first place. Addilyn enchanted this room long ago and although it has faded he can't place any spells here. Though he can still come in at any time. I'll warn you if he does." The cat looked back up at the male giant in front of him with sharp, suspicious eyes. "My name is Kit, it is nice to meet you sir. And you are, or were Addilyn's boyfriend? Interesting, I didn't think she'd ever... never mind. I have two questions for you, what is your name and what did you do to make Addilyn break? Because I can assure you, she is not pissed. I know she's been getting closer for days now, I have felt it despite our fading bond. I have also been feeling her more intense emotions as she gets closer to here. Only an hour ago was I woken from my endless sleep because she was in such turmoil that it caused the spell on me to break, waking me up. Then it was all just cut off. I don't know what happened to her but she's all fuzzy now." The cat paused in his hurried thoughts as he stared at Jason. "I have known Addilyn since she was born, I've been there for her through it all. Until she left me without a word. I have never felt anything close to this deep passion for someone that she loves before. I realize now that it is you she pines for so desperately. You also have something to do with this turmoil do you not?" Kit was no idiot, he knew that there was a bigger picture behind all of this so he was gathering as much information as he could before getting out of here to find his master. |

"I'm Jason and..." Jason ducked his head, internally cursing himself out, "Damm... I... fuck... Addilyn..." His voice was filled with longing. He had to straighten himself out, though, so Jason took a deep breath, "Addilyn and Jolon are going to end up fighting - I know this. She is stronger than him, and would be able to win, but after that, all of his advisors would still be on the loose. Someone needs to be on the inside to kill them. Jolon offered me a deal to come here, and it was going to only chance I had to get in. I wasn't able to tell anyone of my decision though, since it was spur of the moment. Addilyn must think Ive abandon and betrayed her.... fuck. I'm such a shitty person, but if I don't do this, then those assholes are going to mess up other kids lives." Jason looked up, a cold and hard glimmer in his eyes, "Plus, one of them hurt Addilyn in horrible ways. I'll take revenge for her." |

Kit nodded his little head as Jason spoke. What he was saying went along with the emotions Addilyn had been feeling before she disappeared so suddenly. "I see... I will be blunt as it is the only thing I can do without simply lying to you. Jolon will not be the only one hurt in that arena. Since Addilyn has not been able to fight for a long while, she will have to fight 4 other people, Jolon being the last. The first two won't be a problem, the third will not give to much of a struggle. It is the second I am worried about." The cat stood up and paced back and forth. Worry clouding his vision as he spoke again. "The second is Andrés, who I know you have met. You have also met Destan, who Andrés has been hiding from Addilyn his whole life. Andrés doesn't wish to hurt Addilyn but at the point Addilyn is right now. She will kill him, and although you might not want to hear it, she has done it before. Three times at least. She will not hesitate to hurt Andrés beyond repair. There is a side to Addilyn which you have not met. If you think you have, you are wrong. Unless she's showed you the full extent of her power..which I can tell she hasn't. Jason, I will only warn you, you will see things you do not want to see Addilyn do. But in the arena, it is the only way to stay sane." Kit sighed his pacing finally stopping as he sat back down in front of Jason again. "As for your plan, it is smart. Though hurtful it is smart. I will help you with my limited magic." It truly was a good plan, though Jason was powerless which wasn't a good thing to go in there with.
Kaitlyn drove them to a nice hotel. Brax drove the car close behind and Al sat in the passenger seat. Amika sat between Jonas and Zane. The boy had been so quiet that it worried Amika. At the same time, she was preoccupied with the pain in her head so it wasn't as prominent as it should be. The hotel had practically no one in it as many didn't stop by for winter so after getting a good bargain. The man at the desk said they could have at most 5 rooms on the third floor, which was empty other than them. It was for a good price and Kaitlyn went with it. Happy to finally be able to sit down. Then she realized she still had to take care of Addilyn and she was tired again. |

Jason sat in silence, listening to the magical cat speak. Addilyn was strong, he knew this, and would be able to win. At what cost though? Jason wasn't afraid to admit that Kit was right - he hadn't seen all Addilyn could offer and do. A part of him wished he didn't have to see, if only for her to not have to face that hurt again. When Kit mentioned Destan, he grimaced. The poor boy, who had already been so greatly mistreated, thought he betrayed them. Everyone believed he betrayed them. Save for Ribs, no one knew him enough to read him. Ribs could read him like an open book, and perhaps, he could take that with him, and turn it into a source of strength in this unimaginable time.
"I understand. And thank you, Kit. Perhaps..." Jason looked ruefully at the floorboards, "With you there, if we make it through, she'll believe me when I say I would never betray her." If. It was all an IF.
As for the fact of him being powerless, he saw Jolon and his lackeys. As they stood on that bridge, their stance was not one of a fighter. It was one that screamed that they were cocky and thought they could never be taken. If he was fast enough... No. It would not be an 'if.' It would be a 'when' or else they were all screwed. It had to be a when.
Alex's voice was soft, "Kaitlyn? I can help. I have medical training - or at least enough to be able to look over Addilyn. You can sleep - I can keep watch and call for you if anything happens." |

Kaitlyn shook her head, Addilyn would wake up soon and that was a problem. Zane and Kaitlyn would be the ones to take care of it as no one else here knew the truth. "It is fine Alex, Addilyn will wake up when I sleep and she'll be mad at me. I have to deal with this alone. Maybe with Zane too. Thank you for offering though." She smiled even though Alex couldn't see it and gently squeezed her hand before going to the room where she'd put Addilyn. Destan hadn't said a word since they'd gotten here. He'd just looked out the window with a blank expression. Kaitlyn entered Addilyn's room and locked the door behind her. Zane was already there with concern on his face. "You gonna wake her up?" His voice was stale, and cold. "We both know where this is going. She is shattered who knows when she's going to blow up?" Zane was angry now, his little body shaking. "What are we supposed to do? Let her wake up and kill again? Again and again and again that's all she does and I'm so tired of it Kaitlyn. I can't watch that again." Kaitlyn nodded, she knew what Zane was talking about and didn't want to push it. "We have to at least try Zane. We have to try and give her a chance." Zane rolled his eyes, keeping his biting comments in. "Do whatever you want Kaitlyn but don't make me pick up your messes." Kaitlyn sighed and nodded, approaching Addilyn and releasing her from the darkness. Immediately she gasped and shook herself awake. A fresh wave of tears flooded her eyes and she broke down.
Addilyn was awake, Kit felt it immediately. He released a soft whimper as her emotions pounded his skull. "She's awake again Jason. I can show you, if you wish. Of course, that might make it harder for you but I can sense something important is about to happen. If I try to look I will not remember after, but if I project it you will be able to see and remember while I cannot. As they believe it is violating for me to see and remember." He didn't say who 'it' was but no familiar ever did. Kit was not lying, something important would soon happen that would change the course of things. |

"Yes..." Jason agreed after a pause. He repeated himself, this time more sure of his words, "Yes. I'll remember it." It will hurt to see, but Jason couldn't help but think he deserved it. He caused Addilyn, Destan... all of them... pain. It was only right he feel it back.

Kit nodded, "thank you, you're helping much more than you know. The process will take a moment, please wait." The mark on Kit's forehead appeared again, the split ends of the bond between him and Addilyn reaching out in vain for war other. Each end that repaired itself made the thoughts in Addilyn's head drill into Kit's head. The cat closed his eyes, forcing a wave of concentration over him as he finally connected to Addilyn. Before his consciousness dissolved, he opened his eyes and looked straight into Jason's. Pulling the man with him in a quick tug of thhe consciousness.The two were there but not. No one could see them, hear them, feel them. The corners of the rooms were foggy, it signifies that those were the borders that Kit nor Jason could cross. Kit was just a pale ghostly shadow of himself, as was Jason. It was odd, Kit hadn't done it in so long but he quickly pulled himself together as he jumped on top of the bed Addilyn sat on, as he could not see from the floor. Addilyn was crying, as expected. From honest despair and anger. She was a mess. Kaitlyn was watching with soft concern yet a mother-like sternness. Zane said nothing and looked pretty done as well. Those were the only three in the room. "I'm such an idiot. A stupid stupid child. Why did I ever think-why didn't I realize? I'm so fucking stupid." Kaitlyn sighed, watching Addilyn cry was a waste of time that they didn't have. "Stop that Addilyn, you always do this when Jason is gone. Pull yourself together or we're all going to die." Kaitlyn's voice was strong and firm, her words rang true in Addilyn's mind but it was so much all at once. Her palms glowed a soft orange as she tried to pull herself back together. She clenched her little fists, closed her eyes, and gritted her teeth. Kit had seen Addilyn do this same thing many times, it helped her remind herself what she was fighting for. Who she was fighting for. Addilyn was picking herself back up piece by piece, all on her own and Kit knew that it hurt a lot. He'd been there for her when she needed him, and now he couldn't, and it pained him to just be a witness in this horrible situation. "Okay, better now?" Zane was annoyed, it was obvious in his tone of voice. His blue eyes were cold and hard. He was sick and tired of Addilyn being so weak, what happened to the Addilyn that had killed Zane's whole family when she was only 8? What happened to that strong little girl? Zane didn't know but he much preferred that little Addilyn to the crying, mess of one right now. Kit arched his back and hissed at Zane even though he couldn't see him or hear him. This boy was much to confident in his stupid powers. Addilyn's eyes opened and she was not the same. Kit felt it immediately, his eyes watered as Addilyn handed over all her despair to him. All the agonizing pain she had felt as Jason left was in him now. The transfer of feelings and thoughts from a witch to a familiar was a hard spell, but not an impossible one and Addilyn had reached the point that she just wanted the pain gone. So she gave it to Kit. He was crying for her now, doing the things she couldn't do herself. "Cut it off." Addilyn said a simple three words but immediately the room was filled with tension. "Hell no, Addilyn, that's your out. If you can't beat Jolon at least he'll let you live and force you to join the coven. Addilyn, if we cut off your hair you won't have that out, he'll kill you without thinking about it." Kaitlyn sounded concerned and anxious, she had not wanted Addilyn handing off her emotions like she'd done. Those emotions were what reined her in when she was getting to far away from her morals. This festering anger and frustration would just make her irrational and unstable. Perhaps that was a good thing for the arena but if she was to far gone it was a bad, bad thing. |
