She approached the campfire with Jason next to her. Her green eyes raised to see her family again head on. The conversation died away as people realized Addilyn was actually here. Most people just stared but one, tall woman ran straight for Addilyn. Wrapping her arms around Addilyn in a hug. Tears rolling down the brown-eyed woman's face. "Oh mija I've missed you." Addilyn let's herself be enveloped in the hug but held Jason's hand tight. She wasn't used to people touching her, let alone hug her so warmly. "I've missed you to Tia Yasu." Addilyn was the one to pull away, her aunt smiling. Then she looked down at the whole hand holding part. Her eyes drifting over to Jason, her smile dropping for a second before returning.

"I don't know about this one Andrés, he isn't good for her. He's a criminal." Witches could sometimes create links with each other in their minds. It was an easy way to contact one another without wasting time and also being in secret. The problem was, it made their thoughts louder to those who could read minds. Their conversation was easily heard by any mind reader. "She is too Yasu. You forget what she's done to get down here. She's killed and hurt many people." Andrés replied quickly, he was still at the campfire. "She killed for him Andrés. Specifically to be with him. That's disturbing, and not right." Andrés didn't reply. How was he supposed to. What she had said wasn't wrong.

Throughout his time in jail, Jason got better at his strange power. If asked, Jason would say he never wanted it, but was glad it was there. It was just something that happened during a violent car crash. At times, Jason could remember the faintest bits, of a huddled figure, of a rough hand shaking him, holding out a chance...

Besides. The power saved his life.

It was useful, especially here. Hearing the slightly offensive, but mostly true, words stung. This was already something Jason struggled with. He felt the guilt of everything at every moment of the day. It was all his fault, and he knew it, but right now, it was the present. And he was holding Addis hand, and never letting go (figuratively, of course). Who knows how'd they end out. Maybe they would be together forever, maybe they'd have a horrible breakup later on, but the definite right now is that the we're together.

Jason's witty mind worked at something to say, something to try and break the ice that immediately formed. The idea of saying, raise your hand if you've killed someone, flashed, but was vetoed. Sadly.

Instead, Jason just cleared his throat, "Hi. I'm," a wanted criminal, Addilyns boyfriend, a mind reader, Jason, "Really hungry. I believe there is food here?"

"Yes, of course there is food here. And, may I ask, who are you?" Yasu looked at Jason with intelligent brown eyes. Yasu was Pandora's sister, not Andrés mon but one of Addilyn's many aunts. She wasn't powerful, much like Addilyn's mother. But she had standing here. "This is Jason Tía Yasu, my boyfriend, and no, we aren't bonded." Yasu tried to act surprised and seemed to do it well enough. Andrés smiled from his place at the fire. Shia smile signaling to everyone that they could see Addilyn right now if they wanted to.

At first, Jason felt like it was all normal brain communication, then, it hit him. The old lady was thinking about doing something to him! Old people didn't like him, or just people in general. For once in a long while, around complete strangers, Jason let his mental guard slip. Not to let anyone in, no, but to read the minds of those around him. Not just overhearing.

Yasu knew that when the two were going through a bump in the road Addilyn turned cold and completely closed off. Although Addilyn was always independent, without Jason she was exactly what Jolon wanted. Which wasn't a great thing.

Jolon, or Addilyn's grandfather, wanted Addilyn back, which was something Addilyn probably already knew. What she didn't know was that Jolon also wanted to break her down so she was useful to him and wouldn't cause any more problems. Which meant that Jolon wanted Jason out of the picture. Yasu wouldn't do it if course, but Yasu needed to figure out a way to get Addilyn to stop loving Jason. It was the only way they'd have a real chance at beating Jolon.

Two children ran for Addilyn. They were tiny, around the age of 7 or 8. Big smiles lit up their faces as the twins collided into her. "Ily! You're back! You're back." Although the two boys were identical twins, Angel was slightly taller than Seth. It's what set the two boys apart. Plus, Seth had much darker green eyes than Angel did. They had a power difference. The boys wrapped Addilyn in a hug and Addilyn looked shocked at first. Then she gently let go of Jason's hand and bent down so she could really hug the twins. When she had left they had only been 2. She didn't think they would remember her though she had been their babysitter for awhile.

There weren't words for how the boys made her feel. They were her cousins, as close to her as Andrés was. Maybe even closer. They were her family.

"You know," Jason said to Old Auntie, having stepped back from Addilyn to let her see all of her family without him being in the way, "You know , you break and rip your muscle fibers in order for them to grow back stronger. I've done that, she's done that. We are both growing." His icy eyes flashed, but his face didn't change from an easy smile. He seemed to be about to leave it there and say no more, but Jason added, "I know you hate me, and if it's not that, it's close. I also know I suck at being a human, at being what Addi needs, and you probably want me gone, but I'm not leaving. I'm not leaving her," Jason jutted his chin towards Addilyn, "She is someone special to me." His voice was low, so only Old Auntie would hear.

Yasu's eyes burned into Jason's, he had a big mouth this one. Didn't know who he was in the presence of. He was just a reg, one that had certain privileges because he dated Addilyn. Her Addilyn, not his, he wasn't even important. "You do not know what this will cost you. I am not your enemy Jason Stolle, although I will say I do not like you. At all. You are both Addilyn's greatest weakness and strength. The worst thing you could truly do right now is leave and I recognize that Which is why you weren't immediately killed when you stepped foot on our bridge. Addilyn never would have been killed in that water. We were hoping you'd drown actually. Alas, I have realized that you are of actual use, don't mess taht up." And with that Yasu disappeared to go talk to Andres.

Addilyn was completely not listening to what was going on with Jason and her aunt. She was to preoccupied with remembering the names of relatives she hadn't seen in a long while. The twins following her, huddled close to her legs. Addilyn hugged the people she truly remembered while the hazier ones only received a greeting and a hand shake. Addilyn turned her head to the side once she heard her name being called by a familiar voice. "Alvina, is that really you?" The other girl collided into Addilyn, the cousins reuniting at last.

The girl was a year or two younger than Addilyn but was inches taller. She was an exact opposite of Addi. With dirty blonde hair and tan skin. Her eyes were also extremely dark, in fact, they were black. The color Addilyn had described when a witch had no power.

She was weak.

Alvina was on her mother's side of the family. The weaker side, she was Yasu's little one. One of 6, though she was the only kind one. "Oh thank the gods above, I can't believe you're back. They said grandfather kicked you out and that you were banished. But you don't have the marks of a banished one. Where is Tia Pandora?" Did I mention that Yasu only spoke Spanish? Oops..

The other oops was that no one seemed to have told the powerless girl that Pandora's aura had faded over 4 months ago. Addilyn frowned, her green eyes suddenly dark.

Jason listened to everyone's thoughts, but the one that stood out the most was the people of their group. They sounded lost in all of the reunion chaos.

Brax, although confused, used his amazing Spanish skills to try and talk to people. Although they had different ways of saying things, Brax was liked by multiple other young men. Who happily said they approved of him more than Jason. Which was completely wrong since Brax was literally at the lowest point of his life so..

Addilyn meanwhile, was now in an argument with Yasu. Switching over to Spanish like she normally did when angry. "You're telling me that no one ever told her? You know how ridiculously stupid that is? She is not a child Yasu." Of course, Addilyn was talking about how no one told Alvina that Pandora had died. "She is much like a child though. Alvina is the baby out of everyone." Yasu's reply fueled Addilyn's anger. Her eyes turning a bright green in color. Although she loved her aunt, they'd never really gotten along. They had very different ideas about how Addilyn's life should go. Mostly pertaining to who Addilyn should hang out with, or date, or say, or literally anything.

"Maybe if you actually let her be more mature and stopped treating her like a baby she would be different. Besides, the twins even know and they are much younger than she is and even less mature. Your words are twisted Yasu." Addilyn had become more outspoken over the years. Before she would have never dared to disrespect Tía Yasu, but now was a different story. She didn't stand down just because she was expected to. "What in the world are y'all talking about? I just want to know where Tía Pandora is." Addilyn sighed, her eyes dimming as she calmed down. "My mother died 4 months ago in a bad accident. Car accident. I wasn't there to stop her, I wasn't there for her last breaths. She was alone. I will say it is partly my fault. But grandfather is the real reason why mother died. That bastard caused her death." Alvina's eyes widened and she teared up. Then the words against Addilyn's grandfather flew out of the powerful girl's mouth and silence spread throughout the party. Of course no one here particularly liked Jolon, but you weren't supposed to say such rebellious things against the rey.

Minds all thought the same, so even though Jason didn't know Spanish, he still understood what was going on. That mainly being Old Auntie And Addilyn fighting, and literally everyone at the party dissing him. For real?! I walk into someplace and instant hatred. Witches are weird. I suppose Addi and I both drew bad lots in the family department. Missing mom and dead dad. And a sister who was murdered. Just peachy.
