“And maybe when the woman that Carbello was with comes in to confirm his whereabouts, you can interrogate her.”
Florian’s face lit up at that sentence and he nodded, “Really? Sure! I can definitely do that,” he smiled brightly as he turned around to go and see if Steffen and Norwood needed his help with finding the woman while waiting for the neighbor of the victim to show up.
It was nice to see that Evelyn was willing to let him do something on his own, even if it wasn’t really something that would determine the whole outcome of the case, it was still nice to get some responsibilities.

After some time he heard how Evelyn called his name and he looked up before getting on his feet and quickly made his way over to Evelyn with a cheerful smile on his face. Seeing her wait before walking into the room made him feel happy, it was nice to see that she wasn’t as bothered by his presence anymore.
As he entered the interrogation room he dropped the smile, taking the same place by the wall as he’d had earlier and leaned back against it slightly while crossing his arms.
Florian looked at the man sitting by the table, looking him up and down as he stayed quiet to let Evelyn do her thing.

"Todd Wayne."

Evelyn half greets as she sits down,"Thank you for coming up to answer some questions." Todd nods,"Of course, no problem. I'm happy to help if it means the son of a bitch who killed Arthur and Lucas is put behind bars." Evelyn starts,"So, I understand you know the victims from high school?" Todd glances at Florian, then back to Evelyn,"Uh, yeah. Arthur and Lucas weren't friends back in high school, but I sort of ran in both groups back then. So, I knew them pretty well." Evelyn nods,"Good enough to know of anyone who might do something like this to them?"

Todd sighs, shaking his head,"Um, no, Art and Luc were great people in high school. You know, star athletes, smart, friendly, got along with everyone. Which surprised me they didn't run with the same group. But, um, maybe it has something to do with their boss? I heard they're working for Mikey Carbello." Evelyn nods,"They were, but Michael alibied out a few minutes ago." Todd frowns and Evelyn continues,"Did you talk to Arthur and Lucas much after you guys graduated?" Todd shakes his head,"Nah, Arthur and Lucas went to a different college then I did."

Evelyn muses,"So, was it coincidence that you and Arthur ended up as neighbors?" Todd agrees,"Yeah, it was a pleasant surprise though. I was glad to see Arthur." Evelyn wonders,"Did anyone happen to come over to Arthur's? Someone that may have killed him?" Todd's eyebrows furrow as he thinks,"No, Mikey came by once or twice. And of course, Lucas came over, they had become friends in college." Todd suddenly sits straighter,"Although, a few nights ago, Lucas came by and he was pissed." Evelyn questions,"About?" Todd shrugs,"I'm not exactly sure. I was in my living room, and I had my windows open, cause my AC broke, and I heard Arthur and Lucas screaming bloody murder at each other."

Florian stayed still, watching the other man carefully. The two men got eye contact briefly when Todd looked up at him, Florian kept an expressionless face as he looked back at the man, staying quiet.
Todd seemed to have a problem with replying, always having to think and constantly adding an “Um” or “Uh” before saying something, it could of course be because of nervosity but he doubted it, his body language wasn’t that of a nervous man. It could also be his way of thinking, some people did find that it helped remembering. He knew that he was being overly suspicious but better to be overly suspicious and pick up on seemingly useless details than being too careless and missing something important.

"I'm not exactly sure. I was in my living room, and I had my windows open, cause my AC broke, and I heard Arthur and Lucas screaming bloody murder at each other."
That was interesting, if they were as good of friends as Todd said then it had to have been something really serious that they were fighting about for it to turn into that big of a fight. It also meant that even if Todd didn’t know what it had been about, another neighbor could have heard? Say someone had been out walking their dog, they surely would have heard at least part of the fight.

It was hard to know what Evelyn was thinking about it all though, hopefully she’d let him know afterwards but there was no way to be sure with her, he’d gathered that much from spending time around her, she didn’t seem like the one to discuss her thoughts with others, instead she just went right to taking action and doing stuff. Which was rather admirable, that she was so confident in herself and her decisions.

Evelyn nods,"Alright, well, once again. Thank you for coming in, we appreciate the help." Todd replies,"Of course." Evelyn gets up, turning to head out of the interrogation room, while Forest and Elijah emerge from the observation room at the same time. Forest gestures,"Rodgers is back. And honestly, your not gonna like what she has for you." Evelyn frowns,"That sounds reassuring." Evelyn heads over to the desks, where Page was waiting. "Hey." Page looks up,"Hey. So, the high school was a dead end. Turns out Lucas was just there doing some charity work. Y'know, being a good citizen."

Evelyn sighs,"Dammit." Forest and Elijah exchange a glance,"Is it just me or does that Todd dude seem a little..." Evelyn raises an eyebrow,"A little off? Yeah. Steffen, Norwood. Will you and your rookies head back to the crime scene, ask around. According to Todd, the victims were in a hell of a screaming match a few nights ago. Considering we didn't hear of it from the roommate, or any of the other neighbors we interviewed there, I'd say Todd's lying." Forest and Elijah nod, heading off to their cars to head back to the crime scene.

Evelyn sighs,"While us four?" Meaning, Evelyn, Page, and their rookies. "We're gonna dig up Mr. Wayne's past." Todd was being escorted out of the precinct by a uniform, and Evelyn's narrowed gaze tracks him all the way to the elevator. "He's hiding something, and I plan to figure out what." Evelyn and Page then sit down at their desks, and the work begins. Files were brought as well from uniforms, and Evelyn and Page handed them to their rookies to read while they worked on the computer. Trying to dig up anything that had been newer and wouldn't have been in the files.

((Not the best thing I've ever written but I hope it'll do heh))

Florian watched as Evelyn got up, in his opinion there was more that could be asked but he wasn’t going to tell her how to do her job, especially seeing as she seemed to be more tolerant of him now.
He followed her out of the room as she made her way over to Page. It was clear that she wasn’t happy with what Page had found out and understandably so, they didn’t have much to go off at all.

He watched as she sent Elijah and Forest back to the crime scene with their rookies. She didn’t even have to try, she was just naturally in charge, the others didn’t seem to even think about questioning her.
When she said that she wanted to dig up more about the suspect's past, Florian had to keep himself from sighing, he knew that that would mean deskwork and he was not a fan of just sitting around and reading through files. He had grown bored of that before the first year of the academy had been over but he had no choice, he knew that it was a part of the job and there would always be something that you didn’t like doing but had to do anyways, it was the case with all jobs.

When handed the files by Evelyn, the blond took a seat in a nearby chair and put the files down in front of him. He started reading through the files, making mental notes of anything that seemed interesting to him. He stayed silent as he worked through the files, completely focused on the task in front of him.

After some time he’d gotten through all the files and he decided to skim through them once more, making sure that he hadn’t missed something. Florian then looked over at Evelyn, “From what I can find people seem to just disappear around the guy, and he’s been the suspect in a few murder investigations before but only briefly before they seem to find the murder. Could be that he just turns up at the wrong place on the wrong time a lot but I doubt it, there must be something else going on,” he told the detective before leaning back in the chair slightly and waiting for her to reply with what she thought.

(It's all good! XD, I'm just ready to close this case and get to the exciting ones)

Evelyn sits down, opening her own file, scanning it. Evelyn's expression never changed, a constant sort of neutral expression as she stares down at the first file, then she moves on to the next, then the next. Finally she was done and she closes it looking up at the same time Page and Florian did. Florian speaks first, and Evelyn absorbs the information, nodding. Then Page speaks,"Well, apparently when Todd was about fourteen he was involved in some vandalism, the charges were dropped, but the file wasn't completely finished so I'm not sure what really happened." Evelyn nods, before glancing up as the elevators open and Elijah and Forest enter.

"You're back pretty quick." Forest shrugs as they enter the bullpen,"We divided and conquered." Evelyn muses,"So, learn anything new?" Forest grins, sitting down at his desk,"Oh yeah, and you're going to love it." Evelyn raises an eyebrow,"Well, spit it out." Elijah sits on his desk,"Well, turns out that our victims were in an argument, however they were not screaming bloody murder at each other." Evelyn frowns,"So how did the neighbors know about the argument?" Elijah and Forest exchange a massive grin,"Because our victims were screaming bloody murder with Todd." Evelyn sits back in her seat.

"And all the pieces fit together." Evelyn gets to her feet,"I know who killed Arthur and Lucas." Evelyn, as her nature, was about to head off to make the arrest. Page clears her throat,"Hey, Evelyn." Evelyn pauses,"Yeah?" Page gestures towards the rookies,"Maybe you should explain how you know?" Evelyn resists the urge to sigh,"Alright." Evelyn strays back towards the group,"When I was reading on Todd, my files told me that Todd was not a very good kid in high school. In fact it surprises me that Todd ran with people like Arthur and Lucas."

Evelyn leans against a desk,"Todd was a drug addict, I mean he did just about any and every drug. He was caught every time but was never sent to juvie, someone always bailed him. Which could only mean one thing." Evelyn nods at Florian,"What do you think it means?" Evelyn was testing Florian, seeing if he had managed to put together the pieces yet. Of course, Evelyn wouldn't be mad if he didn't. First case, and it was an interesting and different kind of case.

Florian listened to Page speak, making a mental note of what she said.
Not long after, the two male detectives and their rookies made a reappearance, and it was clear that they’d found out something good. Once they’d explained what they’d found out, Florian couldn’t help to smirk a little at Todd’s stupidity, had he never said anything about the fight then maybe that would have never come up and maybe, just maybe, he would have gotten away with it.

Suddenly Evelyn was on her feet and he looked up after her, unsure on whether to follow or not. Just as he started getting up to follow after the detective, Page stopped her and Florian was stood looking between the two before Evelyn was asked to explain and he shifted his blue gaze to her, listening to her.

"What do you think it means?"

The blond stood looking blankly at Evelyn for a brief second before it actually hit him that she wanted to know what he thought. He looked around the room at the others before he opened his mouth to say what he thought, “Well I think that means Todd most likely had some connections like, say a gang or a cartel, something like that,” he paused and casted a glance at Evelyn. The theory that he had, he’d been so confident minutes ago but when asked to tell the others he suddenly felt very insecure in it and it didn’t feel as if the academy had prepared him much at all to work for real.

He took a breath before continuing, “Now with the years, Todd must have gotten more and more involved with whoever kept bailing him out and their business. Once he got a taste for what that type of life could give him, he had no interest in getting a regular nine to five and being a good citizen. If he’s part of a gang or cartel, which I believe he is, then he probably did, or at least tried to do, business with Cabello. Since both the victims worked for Mikey then they must have heard about it and, for whatever reason, they didn’t like that. The two probably knew something about Todd that we don’t,” he paused once more, casting another glance at Evelyn. Hopefully he was at least a little on the right path.

“The fight that the neighbors heard between them was likely about that and being the law abiding citizens that they were, they must have threatened to tell the cops about something, causing Todd to feel threatened and deciding to kill them before they could reveal anything to anyone.” Once done he looked at Evelyn fully and scratched the back of his head a little as he asked, “Am I half right at least?”

Evelyn stares at Florian, waiting for him to answer. She was about to continue on without a reply, when he suddenly starts speaking. "Well I think that means Todd most likely had some connections like, say a gang or a cartel, something like that." Evelyn keeps her expression neutral, she wanted to know the entire theory that Florian had come up with. Though so far, he seemed to be thinking the exact same thing as Evelyn was. In fact, Evelyn was starting to think it wasn't such a bad idea to have a rookie.

Florian then looks at Evelyn, asking,"Am I half right at least?" Evelyn frowns,"Half right? Hmm?" Evelyn pauses, glancing at Page, who raises an eyebrow back at her.

Evelyn looks back at Florian, smirking,"Are you kidding? That's spot on." Evelyn nods,"Todd's parents died when he was young and he went to live with his uncle, who didn't really want to raise a kid. So, of course, Todd fell into this depression and since his uncle wouldn't be there for him or help him. Todd tried to find something else to work, well, he got hooked on drugs. And so he started doing everything he could to try and get more drugs. And somehow stumbled across a cartel. And without a doubt, Todd found himself a member of a cartel."

Evelyn inclines her head slightly,"Granted, it's a small cartel. However, it is still a cartel." Evelyn pauses for a breath before continuing,"No doubt our victims from their records were good citizens, and they're only bad thing was they were working for a cartel leader. But even then, they did honest work, they didn't launder money, didn't do drugs, didn't help in any of Carbello's cartel things." Elijah frowns,"So why are our victims spotted getting into a van with some of Carbello's boys?" Evelyn nods at the picture,"Because, Mikey wasn't lying. Well, in a way he was. Lucas was the one who needed help and so Carbello offered to send some boys to help him move into his new apartment."

Evelyn moves back to Todd,"So, Todd runs with a cartel, and I do believe he is a very high ranked man. If not the leader, and as either one, he would suggest or want the cartel to work with New York's best, as all cartels would want." Evelyn sighs,"Oh, I'll explain the rest of the story later. I've got an arrest to make." She starts off,"Come on." She was speaking to Florian even though she wasn't looking at him. She heads for the elevator and steps inside, pausing to wait for Florian.

"Are you kidding? That's spot on."

When he heard Evelyn say that, he started smiling, happy to have been right and showing that he wasn’t just some rookie that had no idea about what he was doing.
Everything else that Evelyn said just added to the fact that Todd was guilty, only thing missing now was the murder weapon, although there did seem to be more than enough to arrest the man with or without it.

“Come on."

The young man was quick to follow after the detective into the elevator. It was his first day and they had already solved a case and were on their way to make an arrest. Ofcourse the detectives had been the ones doing the most crime-solving but still, it felt good to just have been right.

“I was just thinking, we still haven’t found a murder weapon. He could have already gotten rid of it by now. Do you think he’ll be charged murder even if we can’t find it?” Florian asked as he waited for the elevator to reach the bottom floor. He did know that a murder weapon wasn’t always necessary but it wasn’t as if they had eye witnesses who’d seen the murder happen, just that they’d heard Todd fighting with the victims a few days prior to the murder and that he had a troubled past, to say the least. There was ofcourse hope that Todd wouldn’t put up much of a fight once he realized that they knew exactly who he was and that he would just confess but there was no way of knowing how he would react.

"I was just thinking, we still haven’t found a murder weapon. He could have already gotten rid of it by now. Do you think he’ll be charged murder even if we can’t find it."

Evelyn chuckles,"All I need is a confession. And Todd's alibi doesn't hold together at all. Besides with strangulation, it's typically harder to use the murder weapon as the main point." The elevator dings before opening as they reach the bottom, and Evelyn steps out,"We'll catch him, don't worry." Evelyn continues on, she had debated on bringing Hades, but had decided not to. This was an arrest, if Todd decided to run, well Evelyn was decently quick on her feet.

Evelyn makes her way outside, getting into her unmarked, before starting it. She picks up the radio, and speaks into it,"This is Detective Evelyn MacQuoid, I need a 10-33 on Forest Avenue, stand by for further assistance. Keep sirens off." The radio crackles for a second, and then she gets a response,"On our way, Detective." A few more responses like that came in, and Evelyn hooks the radio back on the dash before putting the car into drive and heading off. Evelyn glances sideways briefly,"Typically, rookies shouldn't be this close to an arrest their first time through."

Evelyn turns on the highway,"Because even though you were trained for it, people like Todd are incredibly unpredictable and rookies can get hurt. But, as long as you stay behind me, and stay alert. You should be fine." Evelyn advises,"Trust your judgment, but don't over think it too much." Evelyn grimaces,"And don't stress about it too much. Every rookie feels the same on their first case." She sighs,"I know I did." Evelyn turns off the highway,"My mentor was a lot like how I act. Cold, hard to please, hard to get to open up." Evelyn pulls up to Todd's house, noting the barely see-able cop cars around. "That's probably where I get my cold hearted nature from."

Evelyn shuts the car off, and gets out, headed for the front porch. She knocks on the door,"Todd! Are you home?" Evelyn glances sideways at Florian then back at the door as it opens, revealing Todd,"Detectives. What brings you by?" Evelyn answers,"We think we know who the murderer is." Todd nods,"That's great! But why are you at my doorstep?" Evelyn states,"We just need you to answer a few questions. Do you mind if we come in?" Todd frowns, but nods,"Sure." Todd steps out of the way and Evelyn enters. Her gaze sweeping the house as she walks towards the living room.
