Beollan
Fire Dragon | M | New Dragon | Mentions: Dragons & Riders [Ind.]

Large wings flapped lazily now and then, the sun glinting off the flame colored wings as he flew, allowing the dark veins within them to be more easily seen. A hissing growl rolled from the dragon's jaws, his lips rippling to partially expose his teeth in annoyance. This was the last thing he ever wanted to do... again. Yet, that instinctual and ever so annoying tug was present in his chest. He had tried his hardest to ignore it, but the more he waited, the more insistent it got. So, here he, Beollan, was, heading to the valley he had been to centuries ago.

Being such a large creature, the fire dragon covered ground quickly, the valley coming into view as the sun rose into the sky. Smoke spewed out of his jaws and the vents on his face, the white color creating trails behind him from the sheer volume he was expressing. True to fire dragon nature, he was in a foul mood.

Beollan's dark shadow fell over the valley, draping darkness over both human and dragon alike as he flew, giving a hint to his size and age before he even landed. Tilting a wing he slowly turned, his eyes looking down below, taking in the familiar sight. His first time here he had been excited, elated even, that he was getting a rider. Now? No. Now he would rather peel the flesh off his body and eat it.

Jaws parted and a loud whining screech erupted from him, growing and deeping in timbre until a loud roar ripped from him, followed by a plume of angry fire, coloring the sky in brilliant shades of red, orange and yellow. His scales gleamed brilliantly in the sun, his figure looking like a wild fire dancing in the dead of night. He didn't care if he caught the eyes of others though, he wasn't here because he wanted to, he was here because he had to be.

Growling he swooped around a couple of times, coming lower and lower each time until he slowly touched down in the open field of the valley. He blew out heavy clouds of white smoke, his lip curling to reveal his row of angry teeth. Nostrils flared as fire sparked from his jaws, but he didn't breathe anymore of it, not wanting to quite light the valley on fire yet.

Shaking his figure out, the goliath dragon snaked away from the crowd of gathering humans and to the outskirts near the forest, picking a spot away from everyone. Once he deemed he was in a good spot he lowered to his haunches and glared out at those around him. Everything about the male was unfriendly, completely sour about having to be there.

Navi : F : New Dragon
M: Clara (dir.)
The female paused in the midst of adjusting her wings. She could feel the tugging in her heart growing stronger as her gaze swept over the crowd. She knew her rider was there, somewhere amid the crowd. But she couldn't see them yet. Not yet. But maybe... Her eyes caught on one female among the others, standing beside another female. The two seemed close, though with the awkwardness of new friends. But the first female, she had that feeling. She knew this one was her person. Her Rider. Navi did not move, though her gaze had fully latched onto Clara. She would not move until the ceremony begun. But she knew in her heart that this was right.

Veetabhi

Mentor | F | Mentions: Nakshatra, Ixora [ind.], Beollan [Ind.]

Veetabhi lay draped over the neck of her dragon, feet propping her up against the base of Nak’s neck and her arms flopped over the sides of it. Her face was temporarily mushed into the back of her dragon's neck -which was surprisingly okay considering the dragon's scales were pretty solid- as she lay face down, not ready to meet the responsibilities of the day. She let out a grown, sliding off the side of Nakshatra and landing with a slight thud on the ground beside him. Scooting back she used his strong frame as something for her to lean on, legs splayed out on the grass in front of her. Veetabhi looked up to meet the dragon's gaze, too tired to verbally talk she used their telepathic link.

Not sure how much I'm looking forward to the bonding ceremony. I’m pretty sure by the end of it I'll fall asleep standing up and make a fool of myself. I did NOT get good sleep last night. She grumbled, rubbing her eyes for exaggeration. On any other day, Veeta would have been elated for the ceremony, but last night just had to be the night where her insomnia got the best of her. I basically pulled an all-nighter-

Besides not being able to sleep, Veeta had to get up early to help set up things for the ceremony later that day. She had been here with Ixora since early that morning, and it was safe to say Veeta was not a morning person. I’ll just have to suck it up, I suppose I wouldn't make the best impression if the riders see me all sulky looking. Like, "Here's one of our new mentors! Why does she look so unimpressed to be here?"

Veeta mocking the rider's impressions of herself fell silent. The last thing she wanted was to fail at being a mentor. She had worked so hard to get here, she didn't want it all to go out the window because she wasn't a morning person...or that she was in a bit of a mood this morning... or if she crumbled under the pressure…Which she wasn't about to let happen, she had pushed herself too hard these last few months to let it all slip away through her fingers. With a few deep breaths, she did her best to push the tired ache from her joints, stretching out and even splashing ice-cold water from her flask across her face. It drenched her little baby hairs and the water reached slightly into the hair surrounding her face, so Veetabhi decided to pull it back into a braid, slicked up and out of the way. Meaning it was also safe for her to take out and twirl around a knife in her hands without fear of slicing a precious lock of hair off.

She tried to work on sharpening her skills, flicking the knife around between her fingers in an attempt to work on some coordination as she was waiting. Knife work was always a skill of hers, though everyone once in a while she liked to remind herself of what she could do. Besides it allowing her to keep her skills sharp, it gave her an opportunity to show off if she was with friends. Veeta knew the ceremony would take some time, and she was close enough to keep an eye on the action from where she sat anyway. The dull blade of her knife flashed in the light before she slammed it into the ground, growing dull with the action of twirling it around. A loud screech moved her attention back to the valley as another dragon approached, knowing there would be some action soon as more dragons entered the area, she paid closer attention.

Nakshatra
Lunar Dragon | Male | Mentor Dragon | Mentions: Veetahbi, Belvidere [Ind.], Beollan [Ind.], Other Dragons [Ind.]

Bi-colored eyes were intently looked on the valley below from where the pair were perched on the side of a mountain. He was laid out lazily, though his posture could still be regarded as flawless or elegant. Violaceous eyes narrowed at the scene below, an unimpressed growl rumbling in his throat at the showy display a water dragon of some sort put on, seemingly trying to bask in the attention of any on lookers. Pathetic, Nak thought as he watched, his features marred into a look of something similar to disgust. It was no secret that the Lunar Dragon held himself in high regard, viewing himself as the most beautiful and desireable dragon around, rivaling even the female's in beauty. This... pretender.. was nothing but a disgrace in his eyes and barely worth his time.

Shifting his focus to the tired rider now sitting beside him, using his figure to lean against, he chuckled softly. He reached out and nosed the young woman gently, and shook his head at her. "I would never allow you to look like a fool, my dearest Vee. I assure you of that," Nakshatra meant it to as he spoke through their bond. Not only would he never allow that to happen for her sake, but her certainly wouldn't allow it for his own. He was vain like that. "I'm sure everyone will be pleased with you as a mentor, and should anyone disagree then they are at least mentally disturbed and not worth our times," he clicked his teeth together as he mentally spoke, adding emphasis to his words.

Turning his attention back to the valley below he scoffed slightly at those beneath him. "If you need rest, I will awaken you when the time comes for our descent?" He offered, his normally haughty tone quite gentle as he glanced at her from the corner of his eye. Despite all his vile qualities, Nakshatra genuinely cared for Veetahbi, and he took her health and wellbeing rather seriously.

When a dark shadow was cast over the valley, Nak's head lifted at the sight of a very large dragon entering his field of vision. A low hiss bubbled from his lips, and the frill along his back flexed gently. Another measley show from another measley dragon, albeit a rather large measley dragon. Even the fire dragon couldn't hold a flame to him in his eyes.

K'issuk Ran
Water Dragon || Female || Mentions: Kaia
Indirectly Mentions: Beollan, Other Dragons

Perched upon a ledge that jutted out from the mountains, the deep sea water dragon observed with watchful eyes. She had seen the crowd grow, had gazed at the dragons beginning to enter the vicinity.

K'issuk's gaze shifted from dragon to dragon, observing their presence with an innate understanding of their purpose. Sinister ridges adorned her spine, a spine that flexed and drew back in a repetitive cycle the more she surveyed them. Her own eyes glowed in a menacing manner, an eerie cerulean hue remaining. However, there was no malice in her expression. Rather, her facial features remained neutral besides the occasional softening of her orbs.

It was always the highlight of her year, seeing the new arrivals. So much anticipation filled the air, such excitement. She always looked forward to witnessing the moment of connection as dragons approached and chose riders. It was a dance of mutual recognition, a merging of souls if you will. The bond sought to discern the potential for harmony or discord in a partnership. It was really quite lovely.

Such diverse classes. She spoke softly through her mind, noting the presence of a dream, fire, and storm dragon to name a few. They seem to have arrived at once, each piling in shortly after the other. Don't you think so? She continued, head turning to face her own rider, Kaia, who was positioned upon her right.

I find myself excited for them. How many do you believe will arrive this time? Head tilted back towards the vallery, she noted the presence of a dark, psyche, and second fire dragon appear. Shortly followed came another water dragon like herself, though much brighter. A shallow water dragon, I presume. She had muttered to Kaia, tilting her head with curiosity.

On and on they came, a seer dragon appearing next, followed by a third fire dragon. However, this fire dragon appeared disgruntled, a shrill cry sounding from his throat. He seemed older than the rest. Angrier. K'issuk couldn't help but wonder why. Do you think that he will be one of the difficult ones?

Peering down at his scales, she allowed her gaze to linger for a moment before breaking contact, turning back to Kaia. Regardless, do you feel optimistic? I do. The deep sea dragon perked her head up, a soft rumble of content sounding from her chest. Who do you believe will find their human first?

Kenji

New Rider | M | Mentions: Beatrice, Keziah [ind.] Beollan [ind.]

If anyone had asked Kenji if he was supposed to be away from home in Dragon Valley, he would have told you yes. However, this was far from the truth.

Yes, yes, Kenji had snuck away, but for good reason (not really). He was hoping to dance with death, or rather, bond with a massively terrifying dragon and become the favorite child. Honestly, what had drawn Kenji to the valley, deep down, was proving himself to his parents. Being a middle child with loads of talented siblings is not as nice as it sounds. Perhaps if he walked away a dragon rider, he would be just as important as his siblings. Missing a day of work at his family's business, if he did manage to do such a feat, would definitely outweigh the consequences. And if he didn't manage, as long as his younger sister, who was supposed to be covering him, didn’t snitch. He would be all good. Basically a day off from work.

Walking into the Valley Kenji immediately wandered through the crowd of people already amassing towards the edge, his gaze flicking to the amazed, terrified, excited, and nervous face of all those around his age awaiting its start. He was nearly bouncing with every step he took closer towards the crowd, weaving his way in to stand at the center as dragons began to show up. Some sat perched far away while others jumped right in front of the crowd. He was transfixed with the dark figure in the sky above, when he felt two hands slap down on his back, making him jump and yell. Nearly letting a cuss slip out and causing a few heads to turn and look in his direction. He turned to face the culprit and rubbed his hands over his face. Phew. It was just Birdie. Kenji had thought it to be someone from home noticing his absence and coming to retrieve him.

He opened his mouth to say something but his friend beat him to it, asking if he had seen Kez. "Pity if you haven't, because then I'll have to settle for your company until we find her." Was what she followed up with, prompting Kenji to feign a look of hurt as he placed a hand over his chest, “Well don’t act too excited to see me!” he responded, “And for the record, my company, is the best company,” The friendly banter between the two was something Kenji always enjoyed.

The look that Birdie suddenly had on her face was enough for the male to look up in time to see a massive dragon overhead. It was safe to say his jaw dropped as it let out a massive screech. He faintly heard Bea ask if he had seen Kez again and he responded with a shake of his head, still looking up at the dragon when she suddenly grabbed his hand and moved in the direction he assumed to be Kez. He gripped her hand tighter in response to some of the crowd pushing against them, trying to follow her as best as he could.

“Wait I think I see her actually!” he called, “Look towards the edge of the crowd, I think we’re looking at the back of her head,” with his free hand Kenji pointed ahead to where he assumed Keziah was waiting. He ran a hand through his hair in an attempt to fix the curly mess as a bit of wind blew it all directly in his face and did his best to match the pace of Bea in front of him. With the height difference, he did his best to match his strides with hers so he didn't accidentally step on the back of her shoe. Kenji knew if he did he would never hear the end of it.

Kaia Seelen
Squad Leader | Male | Mentions: K'issuk, Others Ind

The man stood quietly beside his dragon, watching the crowd of people grow and dragons arrive. He knew K'issuk would be enjoying looking at the dragons, but Kaia couldn't help but find himself mildly distracted, glancing down at the crowd to try and spot the dark hair of his brother, Sedna.

When the deep sea dragon spoke into their bond, Kaia hummed softly. 'There are definitely diversities, hopefully it'll help make them a good team,' Kaia said into the bond, shifting his weight to lean against the dragon. Despite her appearance, K'issuk had always been kind, she had always shown the love of the ocean to him. It helped settle the ache that 'home' left in his chest.

'Some rare ones this year,' Kaia mused into the bond, peering down at the dragons. He spotted fire dragons, a storm dragon, a water dragon, and a seer dragon. The sight of the third fire dragon itched something in his brain, something that he'd read somewhere, maybe. 'That dragon looks a bit old to fit the age that a bond normally sparks,' Kaia said into the bond, his mind distracted as he tried to think back to any records he'd read.

'Difficult, maybe. He reminds me of one of the dragons in the records. Maybe his second time bonding? It would explain his.. attitude,' Kaia looked at the dragon for a moment longer, before glancing around to try and spot his mentors and their dragons. He was close friends with both of the mentors that had been given to his squad, Veetabhi and Ixora.

'I feel okay, a little nervous,' Kaia said, letting more of his weight rest on K'issuk. 'Sedna is supposed to be here today. I'm not sure if I want him to be chosen. He'll be a right pain if I'm his squad leader,' The man chuckled, shaking his head. His younger brother had always been rebellious, and he knew Sedna would near-on raise hell if he was forced to listen to Kaia.

Suhail Toivo Terah Koskinen
New Rider | Male | Mentions: Open, Dragons Ind

The young man moved through the crowd, finding the push and pull of the bodies crushing against his ribs and his mind. He didn't even want to be here, his aunt had insisted. Terah made an aggravated noise, running a jeweled hand through his hair. He was fine with crowds normally. Well, not fine with all crowds like this one, but normally he made do. For some reason, this one was worse.

A crack of thunder overhead despite the decidedly clear skies reminded him of why it was different, why it was worse. He'd heard of dragons taking out parts of the crowd to get to their human, and Toivo wasn't exactly waiting in line to be the first one trampled to death, by a dragon or the group of humans. 'People are idiots on mass' was something his father would always say, and Terah had to find himself agreeing.

The ginger man had finally, finally, pushed his way to the outskirts of the crowd, where only a few quiet people stood, when other dragons began their appearances. Some descended from the sky, others erupted from the lake the school had nearby. Terah didn't flinch, pah, who do you think he is if you think he'll flinch? But he found himself unsure in the presence of so many large, scaly beasts.

Toivo sighed, folding his arms. He just had to stand here for however long the ceremony would go, and then he could go home and report to his aunt that, no, he hadn't been chosen, and no, he won't be a famed dragon rider, and he could choose his own path in life thank-you-very-much.

Keziah Layne
New Rider | Female | Mentions: Beatrice, Kenji, Dragons [Ind.]

Anyone who looked at the young woman could see the nervousness in her features, the sheer anxiety practically radiating from her person as she stood on the edge. Her hands rung the skirt around her legs, a habit she had whenever she was uncomfortable or nervous. Light hazel eyes darted around now and then, looking for her closest companions, Beatrice and Kenji, knowing it was likely they'd be somewhere nearby, and possible together.

As more dragons entered the valley, no doubt lured her by the bond driving them to choose a human, Keziah felt herself getting more and more tense. What if she was chosen? She wasn't at all Dragon Rider material in her mind, and it stressed her out a bit to consider it.

Biting her lips, she released her grip on her long skirt with one hand and reached up to push back some of her curls from her face. In the back of her mind she thought she had heard a familiar voice and turned her body to look around. When her eyes fell about two familiar figures heading in her direction, she let out an audible exhale of relief.

Tension and anxiety melted from her as she lifted a hand and waved, giving her position away to her two friends, and then called out. "Bea! Kenji!" Her lips parted in a brilliant smile, but she remained where she was so they wouldn't get seperated again.

Once they were close she reached out and ensnared her hand in Beatrice's free hand, taking comfort in the presence of her best friend. Truthfully, Beatrice was her comfort person, the one who gave her confidence when she was lacking, and helped her feel safe or protected when she felt more vulnerable. Having Kenji there helped too, since both of them were easily her closest friends, though Bea had been for considerably longer.

"I bet you guys are going to get chosen," she spoke, her voice calm but light, "You'd make wonderful riders." Her words were truthful, because while she didn't consider herself dragon riding material, they absolutely were. "Did any of the Dragons catch your eye?" She asked, turning her attention towards the valley where the dragons were. Would they start rooting our their riders soon? Or were they just as nervous as they were?

Rhyhor
Storm Dragon | New Dragon | Male | Mentions: Kenji [Ind], Others Ind

To say he was less than impressed would be a severe understatement. Rhyhor found himself almost seething, a pull in his chest, an ache in his heart, demanding he fly across oceans and continents to bond with one measly, pathetic human, and be surrounded by a bunch of irritating dragons. He hoped, maybe even prayed to a God he didn't care for, that the dragons he would be stuck with would at least respect some basic personal space.

The large storm dragon stood out against the clouds when he allowed himself to drift below them, dark colouring blooming like a bruise against fluffy white. He watched others approach, heard and witnessed the extravagant entrances, and found he simply didn't care enough for it. He cared not for the opinion of other dragons, why would those of humans be of any importance to him?

When a moment of calm settled over the valley, it's occupants perhaps assuming that was the last of the dragons, Rhyhor descended. The only noise that came from him was a low rumble in his throat, a constant as he placed his hind legs on the ground. He kept his forelegs up, the claws on his wings joint acting perfectly fine as forelegs when he chose. That being said, his wings landed with a heavy, solid thud.

Eyes of pure, electric blue, missing their pupils and sclera, scanned over the crowd as Rhyhor lifted his head. His stupid heart gave a stupid tug, pulling him in the direction of his stupid bond. He couldn't quite stop the rumble in his throat from moving up into his jaws, making itself known with a flash of teeth and a snarl at the part of the crowd nearest to him.

The storm dragons steps were heavy, uncaring of the humans in his way as he waded into the crowd, following the tug on his heart as if it were a straight line. The crowd of humans, in a moment of surprising intelligence, parted out of the way of his body to allow him an unbloodied passage.
